@xSnipeStroker any curved sword works. You need to have Quelaag's soul, a curved sword, 9 titanite shards + 1k souls to get to normal +5, 9 large titanite shards + 1k souls to get to +10, 10 demon titanite + 25k souls to get to Quelaag's Furysword +5. Titanite shards can be bought from Andre near the entrance to Darkroot (800 each), large titanite shards can be bought from the merchant at the top of Sen's Fortress (you have to jump to; 4k each), and demon titanite falls off of titanite demons.
new game+ the Forest Hunters in Darkroot Garden, give 6k souls per kill and easy to kill. I got like 21k in about 1.5 mins - 2 mins that includes the run back to the bonfire.
Lol, I discovered this way as well. And if you have homeward bones (which are very cheap) your farm will be even faster. And even more than that, there are big mushrooms a little bit further which drop guaranteed golden pine resin which gives a big boost to the damage. And even more than that if you have a ring giving more souls the farm is ridiculously fast
MyZCube well yeah, even on NG they are scary, however it's not that hard to dodge their attacks (they have like 2 types of attack, slow attack and an even slower one followed by another hit). I don't remember now, but I think that it's possible to block their attacks
AydarBMSTU blocking their attack will most likely still break your shield. ONE of the normal slow attack which they can even chain into TWO attacks is 70% of your hp on NG+ with smough's armor while the slower one with wind up is an instant one shot. so even if you dodge them it's not that safe of a farming technique.
Wow, I'm late getting to this game but this is extremely helpful. Can't imagine how many humanities you could pull off with the gold serpent ring and 10 humanities loaded. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the help, man! Anor Londo gets boring when I need to run back to the bonfire just so the Silver Knights and Sentinels respawn, at least these guys are easy to kill and I can just homeward bone back when I'm good with the souls that I have
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I just realized that to join the Darkwraith covenant you need to give the lordvessel to Ingward and not talk to Frampt which i completely messed up. Now I need to beat the game and get the lordvessel again but with this video you've speed up the process a ton. THANKS!
Remember, he's playing in NG+ so Soul drop numbers are higher...and, he's wearing a ring to increase the drop numbers as well. Baby skeletons are great for farming Humanity (and Souls) but, Darkwraiths in New Londo are also easy with the possibility of getting a Titanite Slab. Great video. Thanks.
The Crystal Golems in the Duke Archives give out 1200 souls per kill, with a chance of Blue Titanite Chunks in the standard game. Or if you're looking for Purging Stones or Twinkling Titanite, the Man-Eater Shells in Crystal Cavern are good for farming after defeating Seath the Scaleless. They give out a decent 1000 souls in the standard game.
Nice guide through the tomb, though for soulfarming, I would most definetely suggest going to the painted world of Ariamis, farming the Phalanx there is not only less dangerous but also more efficient as you get about...I think 9-10k Souls per run and depending on your equip you need less than a minute per run with a bonfire literaly 20 meters away from it. Best farmspot as far as I know. You can also afford to wear the Symbol of Avarice there. Still, like your style and voicework a lot :)
Thanks for the guide, really appreciate the effort you put into showing us. And by the way, it may not be hd 106546518694p quality, but it's still very clear.
Working on getting my setup in better shape so I can jump on RUclips. I'm thinking a RUclips Live full play through of Dark Souls 3 would be fun. This Dark Souls video was a lucky fluke, so I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. But, maybe I can keep a few people entertained.
use symbol of avarice, evel eye ring will compensate health loss(if it's not enough use leeroy shield) you'll get 20% more souls and most humanities you can (covetus and avarise item discovery does not stack)
It's been a while since I visited. Wow... thanks for checking out my video. Even if you hate it or have a different approach it is still amazing to see this video still being relevant in some way shape or form. I also want to apologize for the questions I left hanging, and to be honest I am not sure if I could answer them off the cuff right now. Thank you to those that have though.
This is so, so much more work than farming the Phalanx in the Painted World of Ariamis. Put on Havel's set and Chaos Firestorm and just rinse and repeat. Clearing them out takes less than a minute and gets you more than 8,000 souls. Plus it doesn't have any of the hassle of being in the tomb of the giants.
great video. i like the forest hunter's woods for my souls farming though. A combination of the silver serpent ring, the slumbering dragon ring, and the hidden body spell makes it to where I can kill all the woodsmen without any fighting, just sneak up and backstab, and I get 64,800 souls per run. the bonfire is really close by, and each run take about five minutes. but to each his own. your way gets you a bunch of humanity it seems, so that's pretty sweet.
Not everyone is into, or has access to, pvp'ing. You certainly can make get a bunch of souls pvp'ing, but in the event that you'd prefer not to, this method is an alternative.
@Caspyrify A few tips if you want the Furysword. 1) Buy the Scimitar from Undead Merchant in first level 2) Save all your regular Titanite to bring a curved sword to +5 3) Farm any remainder you need of 'Large Titanite Shard' from slugs in Blighttown 4) Save all demon titanite (I was able to get my Furysword to +4 after completing most of Anor Lando)

I use the painted world trick too. The 10k in 2 minutes is for first play through. (And using a nice, strong, sweeping weapon, it takes a lot less than 2 minutes) The 100k in this video is done on the second play through it seems. Considering exp is doubled in NG+, and you have symbol of avarice/covetous silver serpent ring equipped you get a little over 20k souls every minute or so. What's nice about the method in the video is that you don't have to run back to a bonfire every time.
It's a nice location, since you can farm humanity as well, but I preffer the Darkroot Garden and the bandits that reside within. There are 4 of them, 3 give you 6k souls, 1 gives you 3k, if you put the Covetus Serpent Silver Ring, it goes up to 7.2k per bandit, if you wear the Symbol of Avarice, it grows even more, and it only takes you 1 to 1.5 minutes to clear them and return to bonfire. So it's over 25k souls every 1.5 minutes, times 40 attempts in 1 hour = 1.040.000 souls per hour.
Yea that's funny, I figured that one out too when I got to the painted world. But still was not sure that it was better than this since I never tried this method. Thanks for letting me know. Made about 250-300k souls that I needed in order to beat the 4 kings. That boss as a dex char is just painful.
Using Wrath on the spear blobbies in Painted reaps 20,000 every run in NG+ (~1-2 minutes). Following this tutorial, it actually takes MUCH longer to harvest souls than this guy says. I don't know if From changed the drop rate or souls the baby skeletons drop, but it's taken me several hours just to get a couple hundred thousand souls in there, and that was wearing both the Symbol of Avarice and the ring.
red things with spears at the statue in Painted World of Ariamis . ~1 min per 8500 souls, you have to have great fireball or area attack.. pure mage soul farming> anor londo's 6 big giants, 9000/2 mins. great heavy souls with power within is one hit kill for the giant at intel >50 happy farming guys!!!!
Combo this with crystal soul spear, crystal catalyst, crown of dusk, bellowing ring, and symbol of avarice. Symbol of avarice + silver serpent ring + overkilling by 50% of enemy max hp gives a huge boost. 50 int crystal soul spear with crystal catalyst, magic booster equips and power within will overkill guardians for like 7777 souls
NG+, Painted World of Ariamis, kill 3 hollows at the entrance, run to Phalanx, kill them efficiently, run back. 40 seconds, 24k souls (around 16k in simple NG). Put on some music, relax, rinse and repeat, and you'll have 1M souls in 15-30 minutes. Do this method until you reach around 250 soul levels... or however patient you can be with the ever increasing amount of souls required for a level, then move on to another NG+. With my INT build (when I started, I had over 50 INT... now it's 70), I used Enchanted Uchigatana for fast, yet still overkill (
I like farming in painted word , the phalax drops around 10000 souls per go when you use silver ring and symbol of avarice . Area effect spells like wrath of gods kill them off quickly . For humanity best place is the abyss . Black spirits drop twin and single humanity at a very high rate with a gold ring .
As I remember it, humanity despawns as a new skeleton is given a spawn placeholder. I ended up just taking the loss and kept killing because I was most interested in getting the raw souls. In order to minimize losses I made sure the skeletons were as close to me as possible before killing them, and killing them while stationary.
If youre a pyromancer its quite easy to kill them with chaos firestorm or fire tempest. Just run towrds them and start casting when youre close to them. They will need a second before they can attack and that is usally enough time to cast the spell and kill 7 or 8 of them with one hit. Finish the leftovers, go to the bonfire and repeat.
And good luck, 'cause getting out of Tomb of the Giants without the Lore Vessel at a low level, and especially if you aren't an experienced player, can be one of the hardest things in the game!
It's not queelag's furysword it's the great scythe. You get it in the catacombs right before pinwheel off the last respawn guy. Where he falls down into that big chasm and those rolling dudes start chasing him. It's in the room on the exact opposite side of the boss chamber.
I don't know that this nets you anymore souls than the secret bonfire/Darkroot forest warriors trick, but it nets a surprising amount of humanity and with Gold-Lined armor set for toxic protection you're set.
This is the one of the things I really hope they improve on in DS2. These places that are extremely far out of the way without connecting to other areas. It's such an annoying chore getting down there, or down to Ash Lake. And these oppressively dark areas are pretty tedious.
allrequiredfields on the up side, once you found the bonfires you can teleport to many hard to reach places. still it's quite a walk to bosses sometimes
you can also combo that with the mimic helm to increase soul gathering even tho it drops ur hp the ring of the evil eye (if u kill the skels quick enuff) and sanctus u will always be topped off and ur getting 40% more souls (20% from silver serpent ring and 20% from helm of arvice). so go farm guys
There's also an illusionary wall in the Catacombs that leads to a bonfire (near the ladder up to the place where you first meet Patches the Hyena, the guy who kicks you into the pit in the Tomb of the Giants) I only just found it in Ng+
I remember the first time I was in the Tomb of the Giants. I didn't even realize I could use the skull lantern and I navigated the entire thing without any light. I can't count how many times I died.
OR, you can take symbol of avarice(It's not really necessary but i like to use replenishment with it), silver serpent ring, dragon king greataxe/firestorm/obsidian greatsword and do the phalanxes... Cast replenishment, 2H your greataxe, running attack the first hollow, run past the boxes from the right side and there will be a little hole between the phallanxes. run in there, strong attack, +over10 000souls. running attack the remaining 2 hollows on your way back +1000 souls for the three of them. rest at the bonfire, your replenishment just wore off and you made over 11K souls in exactly 1 minute :)
How about the Painted World farming method? Just use Fire/Chaos Storm and/or any large weapon, such as a Great Scythe or Halberd, the Homeward miracle (if you have enough faith), and a Symbol of Avarice. In NG+, I average around 18k Souls in less than 1 minute, making it take just over 5 minutes to get 100k souls in NG+, not even considering other NG+ difficulties, which this strategy in the video doesn't scale with NG+, making farming the Painted World far more effective.
If you use decent gear, you can farm anor londo's giants, silver knights, (whatever those bat things are) and sentinels, and return to a bonfire, (preferrably homeward bone). Each run of just killing the giants should yield nearly 30k souls, which only takes a few minutes (1-3 depending on your gear) to commit to, and should be much more exciting than killing infinitely respawning npc's (Which is a good method for people who hate grinding constantly).
You can still farm the npcs in forest(door that is glowing after the 1st blacksmith) run a big circle stand to the right on stairs near the edge cliff. Nets about 7k souls in a 1 minute if the NPCs don't go dumb.
Another Method of soul Farming (and this is if you dont have a new game + or if you do) Go to the Painting in Anor Londo and there will be a statue with blob demons that have spears, use any crowd control attack (I personally use Chaos Storm) and run back to the bonfire and this is really quick and can gain fast levels
You can replay the game perpetually. I think someone determined that leveling is capped at 740 or so. I played it through three times, and each time the the stats for the baddies increased.
Exactly, I won't play the Elder Scrolls MMORPG but I like the community involved behind the series, played it since the first game and I have them all. As I do with Demon and Dark souls.
You can get approximately 200k souls per 10 minutes in ng+ in the painted world of ariamis by farming the phalanx guys. Wear the covetous silver serpent ring and the symbol of avarice. 1500 or so souls per kill. About 21k souls off the phalanx guys. 3k off the 3 undead by the door. If you have the Dragon Greataxe (that comes from the tail of the gaping dragon) fully upgraded, one well placed swing will kill every phalanx. 21k souls per swing. Bonfire just outside, easy repeat.
It’s so much faster to get to Nito from the first bonfire. Just jump off the ledge behind the archer behind Patches, where you find the silver covetous ring, and jump down from there to the path where Leroy invades. So much faster than going from the second bonfire, especially since the first bonfire can be warped to.
Theres a path that hugs the cavern wall near where you meet Patches. Folowing that will lead you to near the Pinwheel Boss arena. From there theres a path to escape near the ladder you climb after defeating Pinwheel.
another great place to farm is in the painted world of ariamas you can kill the blob guys and including the 3 undead you kill between the bonfire and the courtyard you can get around 8500 per run and you can do a run once per minute if you have decent stats
You rescue a sorcerer in the Lower Undead Burg using a key you purchase from the undead merchant in the undead burg. The mage returns to Firelink shrine adn will offer to sell you sorcery if you have high enough Int.
Ascension refers to going to a smith and having your weapon fundamentally changed. Rather than modify, you ascend. Just go to a smith and it will be one of the options on top of their list.
up to 10 increases item find and up to 20 massively increases curse resist. Otherwise it increases defenses all the way up to 100 by a bit I usually always play with 10 humanity on as it makes so that when you lose them maybe after a hour or two of play you will atleast have gotten 10-15 extra humanity because of the increased item find.
For later game farming the best (or perhaps second best after this video) is going to the painting place from Anor Londo. After a while even the garden doesn't cut it anymore.
my fav farming spot is the phalanx in the painted world. they die pretty easy/fast with spells like chaos storm or chaos fireball. in NG+ 1 run takes about 2 minutes (most times less, when you got routine) and you get about 22k souls. do the math :D
I agree very good location to farm souls but i didn't realize it at first because i was mainly trying to obtain a white titanite slab from pinwheels. The symbol of avarice is a must for titanite slabs, i must have levelled up ten times before finding that damn slab! This was new game plus and yes i already found the one in the passageway.
I'm on the first playthrough still, not quite on NG+ so can't confirm if it works or not, but I find that using the Ring of Fog on the Pinwheel clone area allows me to hug the left wall and jump across to them to melee before they become aggroed enough to land a hit. :)
I posted the comment by accident, so here is the continuation. Not every game needs multiplayer to be good. They are currently making a elder scrolls MMORPG, but i don't think they should. Skyrim is single player and it should be. Dark Souls is great and has a great multiplayer, really original. I love both games too, they both have stuff the others dont
Have boss soul in hot bar swing a weapon I use long sword two handed. Before it ends the animation use the soul and hit pause button. If it goes to the menu screen proceed. If it says use soul hit no cuz u did it wrong. Once in the menu use estus flask even if the flask is empty it will still use the boss soul without ever dissapearing. U can also use this on fire keeper souls for humanity and a cheap way to heal health. Is mainly used for pvp building because hackers r scrubs and someone has to stop em. Makes the game more fun when perfecting a acc rather then grinding mindlessly. I love this game sooo much. \[V]/ praise the sun casuals :)
On your way to lower undead burg there is a mage locked in a house (shortly before capra demon boss fight)... free him and you can buy "fall control" from him at firelink shrine. I don't know if he sells "cast light" too. But isn't that a miracle?
I found that the best you can do to counter this is by killing the skeletons as fast as possible, in order to minimize the amount of them that are currently spawned, and after its dead, just go over on top of the dead one and spam pick up. Use a weapon like a halberd (or something that isn't a sweeping attack) so that they don't get to spread out. It's not perfect, but I found doing this helped a lot with missing Humanity.
I do basically the same thing but with the Symbol of Avarice headgear instead of the Silver Serpent ring because it gives both bonus souls and increases your drop rate. With the health gained from the Ring of the Evil Eye the health drain for the headgear is quite negligible.
I know this is an old video but if you buy firebombs, throwing knives, and wooden arrows from the merchant in the undead burg than you can sell them to frampts for more money.
Imo, the best way to farm souls is the human enemies in the forest, especially in NG+. In new game you can get 7k souls every minute (about) and on NG+ its closer to 21k or more if you use the silver serpent ring
If you have the ring of evil eye on why no0t also equip the Symbol of Avarice helmet (i think) that slowly drains health but also increases souls dropped and item drip chance, so you can heal, gain souls and humanity :D. Win win win!
If you have the DLC, a really good farming place for Humanity is the Humanity Wisps in the Caverns before the big boss after Artorias, higher chance at dropping humanity and get about 5-10 per run And they a relatively easy to kill
You can farm the humanity enemies in the Chasm of the Abyss with 10 soft humanity and the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring for 15-20 humanity for each 5 minute run. It's less fun than invading people but more reliable.
it's not as reliable but if you're good enough to pull it off, the invasion rate in darkroot is INSANE in the ps3 version of the game, around level 75-80 each invader you kill averages around 30-40k souls per, i suggest summoning someone to help though because at this level you're going to be chain-invaded and you'll pretty much ALWAYS have 2 invaders in with you. (use the dried fingers from painted world). Generally nets about 1.25mil/hr around level 80, higher if you're higher level
its not easy but there is a way to get out of tomb of the giants without the lord vessel, if you start at patches and start heading back towards the catacombs hug the left wall and you will go up a ramp, eventually you will see a ramp leading up with archers at the top, after you get past them there should be a ladder on the left side you can climb that will get you towards the beginning of the tomb of the giants
I agree with Hollywoodx21x, you navigated this place quite amazingly. Even after my like 30 deaths in this awful place, I don't think I'd navigate it as well.
I'm not addicted, I can quit any time I want... (gently pets controller)
Oh yeah? You still playing this game 10 years later

You should put on that you require to have no fear to do this
This is actually very useful to know as a first time player! Thanks for sharing.

A few tips if you want the Furysword.
1) Buy the Scimitar from Undead Merchant in first level
2) Save all your regular Titanite to bring a curved sword to +5
3) Farm any remainder you need of 'Large Titanite Shard' from slugs in Blighttown
4) Save all demon titanite (I was able to get my Furysword to +4 after completing most of Anor Lando)

You have to beat Ornstein and Smough and then get the lordvessel.
Your voice is oddly hypnotic and relaxing. Keep doing your thing.
It is the Quelaag Fury Sword, and is crafted from the material dropped by Quelaag (the big spider witch).
"Recorded with a toaster"
In Anor Londo's Castle when you've enough strenght to one-shot dragon guard and giants you can farm even more souls.
I regret so much for doing that, it took me 1 hour and a half to go back to the firelink
Get the lord vessel first so you can warp :P it's a life saver late game.

Symbol of avarice + silver serpent ring + overkilling by 50% of enemy max hp gives a huge boost. 50 int crystal soul spear with crystal catalyst, magic booster equips and power within will overkill guardians for like 7777 souls
I gotta say that the skull lantern you find in the giants tomb is also extremely effective against the dark gameplay
Thank you very much for this, will try it out.
Dat 4k quality tho.... but in all honesty this is a good video. it helped me out alot. keep up the good work bro you earned my sub
this is super sweet. fantastic job on the video.
That's part of the charm.
allrequiredfields on the up side, once you found the bonfires you can teleport to many hard to reach places. still it's quite a walk to bosses sometimes
well getting to ash lake the first time must be hard and tedious. Once you get the lordvessel you can simply warp back to it...
Yeah, just picked that up, so I feel like a bit of a tard for complaining.
2 months later everyone agree's that Dark Souls 2 is a flop.
An awesome farming spot! The only problem with this area though is that if you don't pick up the humanity drop (almost immediately) it will disappear.
"Sealed by the great lord's power"
-flips everything-
you can also combo that with the mimic helm to increase soul gathering even tho it drops ur hp the ring of the evil eye (if u kill the skels quick enuff) and sanctus u will always be topped off and ur getting 40% more souls (20% from silver serpent ring and 20% from helm of arvice). so go farm guys
There's also an illusionary wall in the Catacombs that leads to a bonfire (near the ladder up to the place where you first meet Patches the Hyena, the guy who kicks you into the pit in the Tomb of the Giants) I only just found it in Ng+
Awesome thanks! I had to watch your walkthrough step by step cause that place is freaking dark! XD
What do you kill there?
I think its those pink guys with spears and shields. They drop quite a lot of souls.
Also, you don't have to find the symbol of avarice in the archive's, mimic's have a very low chance to drop them everywhere
This is a GREAT way to stave off boredom while waiting for Co-op summons.
Great video Caspyrify! Please upload more tips. Thanks.
another great place to farm is in the painted world of ariamas you can kill the blob guys and including the 3 undead you kill between the bonfire and the courtyard you can get around 8500 per run and you can do a run once per minute if you have decent stats
5:13 THIRD BONFIRE? OH SHIT. That would've saved so much time.
up to 10 increases item find and up to 20 massively increases curse resist. Otherwise it increases defenses all the way up to 100 by a bit
I usually always play with 10 humanity on as it makes so that when you lose them maybe after a hour or two of play you will atleast have gotten 10-15 extra humanity because of the increased item find.
So I don't remember when the DLC came out, but how is Baby Skeleton Humanity farming compared to Humanity Sprite farming in the Abyss?
I'm on the first playthrough still, not quite on NG+ so can't confirm if it works or not, but I find that using the Ring of Fog on the Pinwheel clone area allows me to hug the left wall and jump across to them to melee before they become aggroed enough to land a hit. :)
Taurus demon is the very first for most players who don't go past Havel.
Usually either capra demon or Gargoyles are 2nd for new players.
If you have a "sunlight maggot" helm, then you can skip using a skull lantern or using the cast light spell. Nice vid btw. Thanx.
+Danny dee how does the estus part work? do i use it from the menu? please tell meee
+Danny dee nvm i got it. thanks!
+Danny dee finally a way of getting souls thx
+scorn193 you forgot something the noob way
+Danny dee So what ur saying is, have a boss souls in hot bar, swing a weapon, while in animation use the soul and go to menu? then use estus flask?
There are Necromancers the first time you go there but once you kill them once they don't respawn.
very nice vid, i wont be able to do it just yet to low lvl but its still good to know thanks
I know this is an old video but if you buy firebombs, throwing knives, and wooden arrows from the merchant in the undead burg than you can sell them to frampts for more money.
the silver one does stack so if you have the symbol of avarice and silver serpent ring it gives you 40 percent more souls
Thanks because my save is currently right before the for gate in that room. Now I can back to my game and farm.
If you have the DLC, a really good farming place for Humanity is the Humanity Wisps in the Caverns before the big boss after Artorias, higher chance at dropping humanity and get about 5-10 per run
And they a relatively easy to kill
you are the greatest person EBA!!!!
What is your class? Knight? Warrior?
What is the most balanced class to use? Pyromancer?
its not easy but there is a way to get out of tomb of the giants without the lord vessel, if you start at patches and start heading back towards the catacombs hug the left wall and you will go up a ramp, eventually you will see a ramp leading up with archers at the top, after you get past them there should be a ladder on the left side you can climb that will get you towards the beginning of the tomb of the giants
I agree with Hollywoodx21x, you navigated this place quite amazingly. Even after my like 30 deaths in this awful place, I don't think I'd navigate it as well.
Actually 10 humanity is the maximum droprate modifier. Everything after that only increases curse resistance. Dark Souls Wiki DOT wiki confirms this.
you keep your weapons, armors and almoust every items / rings. and you keep your bottomless box.
embers and keys got lost too (except of masterkey).
