  • At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.

Scorsese did what I thought was our impossible endeavor. A white storyteller accurately telling the story of the Osage massacre. Amazingly, he did perfectly detailed how the Osage people were victimized. The dominating Eurocentric culture allowed all of us to be unconscious of the humanity of these special people. Our entire culture felt a total disregard for the tragedy.

That's because people are much more than their skin color, Scorsese is one of the most, perhaps the most, legendary director alive, incredibly well-read on film and having the talent to bring important stories to the screen. He's not reducable to just a "white person" and that why it isn't right to think in these terms nowadays, especially when it's about someone who's talent and mastery far surpasses everything else.
Natives have certainly suffered terribly and anyone who is interested in giving them more visibility and honoring their stories, deserves respect!

Nope I want Blood Meridian first. Scorsese is the only director who can do justice to it, if there’s one literary work I need to see Scorsese adapting it’s that.

@@mxyzptlk...I would hardly call this a western. Aside from taking place in Oklahoma, there’s none of the classic themes, tropes, symbolism, or narrative elements of a western.

      It’s a Paramount Distribution.

After they changed it from a murder mystery to a character study, Scorsese and company had to go to Apple for the production budget, considering the streaming service doesn't necessarily need to make back what is a 200 million dollar budget.

@@30yearsoldiam1 I hate streaming services. At least Apple are giving this movie a proper run in the movie theaters. Unlike "The Irishman" which only had a limited release because it was a Netflix production.
