I've been loving all these new Scorsese interviews, it's really a privilege to get to hear one of the masters talk about his craft while he is still alive
80 years old! And still sharp and has a great sense of humor. Love to see it. Marty is from my hometown, he's a personal hometown hero and inspiration. I would love to meet him and shake his hand and tell him thank you for being inspirational.
Movie was incredible, audio in the film is incredible. Story is gut wrenching and worthy. It’s long, but long because you want to live in the space it creates. Bravo Martin! Thank you!
The motivation of characterswas not convincing. I did not understand why those women love white men even though they know they are the killers. There was no osage POV only White men POV.
@@Akash-xb7cd very true and great perspective. They definitely should have spent more time on the native wives and sisters as apposed to the middle of the movie when the FBI agent comes in and flips the movie into a murder crime mystery. If you find yourself doing research on the tribe and the women of the tribe along with many other settler/colonizers you’ll find that white men and native men are vastly different in many regards so that could be why the native women liked them because they were vastly different regardless of the white mans bad nature and I’ll intent. Great comment btw, thank you for your insight 👍🏼
@@Akash-xb7cdThey didn't really LOVE them. In real life native Americans were not legally able to control their own finances. They would have white government agents assigned to control their money, but if native women married white men then those white men would get control of their finances. Which would give them a greater degree of financial freedom than they'd have dealing with the racist crooks who the government assigned to control their money. So they married white men more out of convenience than actual love. They also did not KNOW Hale & Burkhart and the others were responsible for the killings until the early-FBI finally arrested them and put them on trial.
This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. Writing down every artist, film, composer that marty mentions was worth it. More research to do now thanks champs ❤
We're lucky to have Scorcese still making some of the best films of his long-living, massively varied career whilst so eloquently discussing how cinema has changed, his influences and so much more. I don't think any other artist that can explain their craft just as well as they make it. One of the greatest for a reason. We're lucky he's still here
I never thought Scorsese would do these kinda interviews but tbh…I LOVE them. Tbh after initially writing this it’s not a shock..he has music documentaries, directed a musical and directed Michael Jackson’s Bad video…music has always played a part in his career.
He’s one of the greatest film makers of all time…. His movies are some of the best movies ever made. What a gift this man has and what a gift that we can still get to see new art from him. ❤
What a MASTERPIECE Martin Scorsese just delivered to us lucky theatre goers Wow ! It is fantastic Everything ! The acting, the story is so powerful ( & I’m flabbergasted that I never knew about any of this ) the sets & cinematography, costumes, so real life in the 20’s I stand in AWE
Learned so much from this interview. Mostly the music aspect of his films that I wasn't aware of. Like the layering of songs in the soundtrack. Makes me want to rewatch Mr. Scorsese's films. TY. 🙏🏻
“Killers of the Flower Moon” may be Marty’s best film EVER. It is spectacular, beautiful and sad. It should sweep all awards. Lily Gladstone is a natural like Greta Garbo!
@@tbd407I can guarantee it is absolutely up there. However if you go in expecting another movie like Taxi Driver or Goodfellas or Casino or The Departed or The Wolf of Wall Street you'll be sorely disappointed.
If anyone wants a 4 hour film school, seek out "A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies". I've watched and rewatched that thing over and over. Overwhelmingly beautiful piece of work that one.
Another great one is Scorsese's longest film project, My Voyage to Italy, his 4 hours 6 minutes 1999 documentary on Italian cinema that is the same concept and format as 'Personal Journey' only with Italian movies.
a really great match between subject and interviewer. made for a more interesting conversation than 99% of the film critics who get to speak with Marty. really well done thx for it.
Saw this on Apple Music when it first came out! Sucked it was in 6 parts but now in full, it’s even more amazing!!!! I love how Scorsese “checks” respectfully Zane on some things he mentions like the split screen, Zane is a total rookie for that one lololol split screen is used by the greats! De Palma/Scorsese/PTA/Tarantino/ETC! It’s a great way to edit a scene, depending how it’s used. Loved the whole interview and it was amazing!!
SO true!!!! I always had a feeling of amazement in the Layla song scene in Goodfellas, that track fits perfectly...gives a sense of nostalgia and tragedy.
I could listen to this man speak for the rest of my life and not get bored. He has such a deep knowledge and passion for not just art but for culture as well. This was an excellent interview.
King of Cinema. Throughout his career, Scorsese has received numerous awards and honors, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Director, the AFI Life Achievement Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Interesting that Martin Scorsese mentions Carol Reed's 1952 film "Outcast of the Islands" based on Joseph Conrad's novel of the same title. Sir Carol Reed was a brilliant director.
80 isn't what it use to be. Robbie Robertson (a close friend of Marty) died last August at 80. I felt he died too young, still had something to contribute. Could also be that I'm of that generation ( a few years younger) and don't feel that old.
The only good thing about this prolonged strike is this Scorsese press tour. Dude is giving so much profound insight we’ll have now forever. God bless Marty. KOTFM for best picture, director, editing and actress
Zane, should you have Martin Scorsese in studio again. Please ask him about his experience and thought process when directing Michael Jackson 's Bad music video. Please.
I like Marty so much. please excuse me for being so familiar as to use Mr Scorsese name, Marty, with such, well, familiarity. He just seems to give one permission, or rather he has this way in putting me at my ease making me feel as if I know him personally, which is one of the things I admire in him more than anything; an honesty, sincerity with no masks or pretence, just himself for who he really is.
I don’t agree with you saying that the song “be my baby” was unsettling. I think the music of that era was the most beautiful it sustained and filled us emotionally like no other music. But you had to say it was unsettling so that you can say that MoTown was settling, wanting to go with leading culture.
Yes i saved soundtrack on Spotify.i was surprised they didn't put some country singer like faith hill or tim McGraw or kane Brown since he does some slow love songs
But I don't really understand why this film is Not on Blu-ray format yet. I didn't see the film when it was in Cinemas... And I can not buy it on Blu-ray. I'm not into platforms.. I just want to buy the Blu-ray!! 💯
The movie is an absolute masterpiece and a story that has needed to be told for a LONG time. Whats crazy is I recently found out that a native American filmmaker made a...well I guess youd call it a biopic...about what had happened, this same story, all the way back in *1926.* But the film is sadly lost to time, no copies still exist. You have to be prepared for a 3½ hour film, which apparently some folks cant handle, but every second is necessary. It's not a VISUALLY violent film the way _Goodfellas_ or _Casino_ or _Taxi Driver_ etc are. But it's an EMOTIONALLY violent film which is arguably more visceral. And the knowledge that everything happening in the movie happened in real life and that all the characters are real people who really existed and went through this, and in fact there are people alive today who were young children when this all happened...it's brutalizing.
