Thirsk AC has risen from the ashes? Who'd have thunk it? I used to fish that stretch back in the olden days. I even got offered a blowie from one of the local slappers hanging around in said play park, which I nievly turned down by the way. A decision that I deeply regret to this day. Let's hope Thirsk AC can get/ keep that stretch of Swale on the crake hill bank, opposite cundal lodge. That stretch was epic. Keep up the good work fellows even though seeing my old haunts "ont tinternet" slightly detracts from the magic I'm not complaining. Let's hope Thirsk AC goes from strength to strength.
Lovely fishing Paul and a great tutorial for anybody looking to go stick float fishing for the first time. Fab camera work and editing by Chappie as usual, well done guys. 👍🎣
Well, the Cream continues to rise to the top! Another exceptional video shot in brilliant lighting conditions Mr Chappie , with the added bonus of Paul showing us his Stick Float skills. Everything about Cadance really is Top Class. Thank you. Kind regards. Alan.
What a lovely little film.....shows perfectly why fishing is so enjoyable and certainly brought back fond memories for me...Great filming, too, well done Paul and Chappy . Plenty of helpful info in there, too
lovely floats them, look quite similar to the pin sticks on eBay that won me a couple of matches last season. Paul’s videos are always a cracking watch, love em
What more do you want than that Paul , we all cut our angling teeth on small rivers ' becks ' river Kyle at tollerton was very fishable years ago ' Walt ' Mick ' Paul ' Kev bull ' nige Thompson , myself all fished it happy days of a carefree childhood ' a green two piece fibreglass rod from bulmers' a black prince reel , that I still have ( dear God ) float's of all shapes and sizes and mustard hooks ' me and Paul used to make our own leads ' in Charlie's shed our molds were spoons of different sizes . Brought some memories back that bit of film Paul ' thanks .👍
Bulmers of York. Blimey that place used to hold some wonderment. I used to wander around there looking at all the cool stuff that I couldn't afford. Then it was round the corner to the model shop to look at all the airfix kits, paddle round to anglers corner for half a pint of mixed and go chasing roach and perch on the Foss.
Absolutely lovely way to fish. I also learnt the art of fishing, on my local river Blythe, in north Warwickshire, James would know it, many a happy days catching lovely big chub from a small river. Thanks for sharing an tight lines 👍
Paul great video thank you. All the memories we have through fishing. The trips me and my mates made slightly dangerous over loaded on the bikes! I'm actually heading to the river tone this morning stick float fishing for silvers hopefully a chub or two. First time in runnig water for 2 years!!! Cheers Jon
Also Directly in front of this peg is a lovely far bank glide that if fed from upstream would probably produce some quality fish early on in the session
I hope Paul puts a video on to show us how he made them floats. wink wink. Fair play to Paul though, he's a top bloke who does a lot for match fishing on the rivers and he's put a few quid in a float makers pocket
Nice little floats mate, great to see you have moved on in your line choice. Get your self on the Tweed/Annan/ Clyde for those big ladies:) Great vid as always Chappy.
From my limited experience up here as a lad I have had some great ladies from the Upper Clyde (Thankerton, Abbingdon), Avon (Strathaven-Hamilton), Earn (Crief and below), Tweed (Grenadiers is famous, Melrose, Tweedbank) Tay, Tummel, list goes on.
The trusty 505. Back in my "trotting" days I had several closed face reels, the black 501, red 505 and silver 506 but sold them when I switched to canal fishing although I kept the Ryobi CF1 for waggler fishing as it has a slightly bigger spool . Brilliant reels that can cost mega bucks these days.
Hi Paul what a nice little video and most definitely my type of fishing mate. Paul can you tell me what make of shot you use as I know some are easier to move up and down the line then others .
I’m having some made so will let you know the details very soon as I’ll need to try them out beforehand. If you’re on Facebook then just message me. Paul
No small river or stream here for me unfortunately, just the muddy, big tides bottom end of the Hull. Can't recall seeing anyone fishing it much below Beverley Beck in my time. Only fished it around Tickton myself, and not for about 15 years now.
I dont understand this feeding and casting downstream my father who was one of the great river match anglers in the 60s and 70s taught us to feed upstream and cast directly in front of our peg he said you want to draw the fish up so that as soon as your hookbait was near the bottom the fish were closer and you would keep the fish in your swim by feeding upstream not have them fall back into the next anglers swim
Much depends on the pace, depth, any slack water, and the general nature of a swim. In Paul's case in this video, the fish were mostly to be found further down, hence the appropriate advice. Your dad would behave been correct on a deeper river I would agree
Now I know that’s completely wrong where Dace and Chub are the target as they will sit directly under where your feed hits the water (well Yorkshire fish do) no mater how deep the water is.
I used to fish the River Trent and Newark Dyke regularly and always fed as far upstream as I could, specially in matches where distance was close to keep the bait out of the Guy downstream's swim. Something that's helped me loose feeding by hand on my local canal.
Also we had wire stem stick floats in the 80s in fact i have many of them from back in the day lol so nothing new sorry i dont mean to sound adversary but the advice on casting and how you are feeding is just wrong .
It’s how I cast but as always we keep on learning so it would be great to know how to cast a stick float properly and would be grateful to hear how that’s done, looking forward to hearing from you👍 Paul
I agree Adrian, specially in matches where you didn't have the luxury of long pegs unless you were lucky and had a spare peg downstream. We were taught to feed as far upstream as you could throw with your "spare" hand to keep your bait in your own swim and not the next Guy downstream,
Can you tell me how to do it properly then dude, because for the last 30 years I've been doing it wrong. I always cast and feed downstream when fishing like this, never in front or upstream. Always looking to learn though, always something new, hope to hear back from you 👍
Great video

Bit too much info? Lol🤣
Such a lovely gentleman, he gave some great advice there.
Lovely fishing Paul and a great tutorial for anybody looking to go stick float fishing for the first time. Fab camera work and editing by Chappie as usual, well done guys. 👍🎣
Great demonstration of stick float fishing and great for all new anglers who want to learn the technique
Well, the Cream continues to rise to the top!

Kind comments Alan. Cheers. Chappy👍
Thanks for the positive comment Alan it means a lot👍
plumbing up advice is spot on though
What a lovely little film.....shows perfectly why fishing is so enjoyable and certainly brought back fond memories for me...Great filming, too, well done Paul and Chappy . Plenty of helpful info in there, too
Love rivers like that another great video.
Brilliant video! Absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much!
lovely floats them, look quite similar to the pin sticks on eBay that won me a couple of matches last season. Paul’s videos are always a cracking watch, love em
Yet another cracking film Paul. I think I last fished Cod beck around 1976 used cycle from the village with Blue Match rod and a Mitchell 300 reel.

Lovely response Martin. When all is said and done, life is just memories and it's great when the majority are good ones.👍
I reckon that green fibreglass rod was from Bulmer’s👍

Good luck and enjoy the day
@@paulkozyra4467 cheers Paul not quite as many as I'd hoped but a lovely day out trotting biggest chub to 3lb just what I needed good for the soul
Lovely video Paul and Chappy. Just the sort of fishing I love. I have the 11' #2 rod and CST 3000 and they're a joy to use.
Such a lovely way of fishing!
Superb educational video for anyone wanting to learn how to fish the stick float
Also Directly in front of this peg is a lovely far bank glide that if fed from upstream would probably produce some quality fish early on in the session
It did👍

Yes, we surely will. Just need some local guidance if you know? Drop me a message on FB. Chappy or James
@@cadencefishinguk Talk to Jeff Smith, local guru on all the rivers here.
Think Scott Jose has had a few sessions up here too.

Teviot produced some to 3.5lb on a feature for a fly mag. Awesome
No ABU 505??!! Can't believe it, must have stick reel when I were a lad.
Paul's family were very poor, first up best dressed😆👍

@@davetaylor8858 I forgot about that Ryobi reel, I still have my 505 and an ABU 1044 'Syncromatch'.
Beautiful

Cracking video
Cracking vlog as always Paul, love the floats, are they home made or available in tackle shops, could you use them on the Warwickshire Avon at all, cheers
Paul may well reply too, but he mentioned a pal was making some for him, so they may become commercially available soon.
I’m having some made so will let you know the details very soon as I’ll need to try them out beforehand. If you’re on Facebook then just message me.

Thank you Paul
Hi Paul where do you get the Silstar match team line i ran out a couple of years ago and couldn't find it any more Thanks
My local tackle shop (Mitre Angling) in York, if you can’t find any then I’m sure they’ll post to you. If not let me know and I’ll sort you some

Investigate the Hull around Aike and West Beck👍
