This is precisely the kind of review video I want to see - no shenanigans, no silly jokes, just straight-up, smart, concise opinion. You've helped me a lot here! I need a new camera (my last one was stolen in a burglary) and I haven't been able to put any new educational videos together for my students in a while. Though I'd love to go for the up-market FZ2500, I think my budget constraints will keep me looking at the older version...
Thanks for this. As a long-time photographer, I've just gotten into bridge cameras and finally see the benefits of a camera style I've purposely avoided for years. And I have a dozen digital cameras.
First of all.. thank you for this review.. I used to own an fz1000.... Finally got the fz2500..... Concerning photography it's almost the same.... For videography... The fz2500 is much more better.... Good job.
Here’s where Panasonic has added a little extra value. The FZ2000 now features a 20x optical zoom, which gives you an equivalent of 24-480mm in 35mm terms. The maximum aperture range goes from f/2.8 up to f/4.5 at the furthest reach of the optic. By contrast, the FZ1000 has a 16x optical zoom, or 25-400mm f/2.8 - 4 in 35mm terms - so the FZ2000 has gone a touch wider too. and... fully articulated viewfinder? and ibis was on fz 1000 .
Thank you so much! I have an FZ1000 and really love it, but I am considering upgrading from the FZ1000 because the 2500 allows simultaneous SD card recording while HDMI output is in progress!
Side access for the card! - I hadn't noticed that. I have the FZ1000 and wondering whether to change to the FZ2500 for the extra 80/160mm zoom. That side access may well be the tipping point.
@Suzette Allen Hello Suzette Allen, your review (Lumix FZ1000 vs FZ2500) is very details and useful. I am very happy to learn that the flash sync could be up to 1/4000 sec which is very few reviews had mentioned it. As I am using the fill flash with my pictures very often, would you please to tell me which third party TTL Flashes could be fully compatible to the Lumix FZ1000ii/mark 2. I am looking for your suggestions very soon. Thank you!
I really enjoyed your comparison between the two cameras. I wanted to ask, can I get away with using the FZ2500 for Weddings and Event photography? With videos, it's obviously not going to be a problem. With Portrait photography I would use studio lighting. My concern with this camera is will it be good enough to use in lower light conditions like for stills at a wedding or any inside event like corporate and party events that would not allow for extra lighting, and I'm assuming that with the 4K on the FZ2500, lighting won't be a problem doing videos. Though I do pretty good for a non-pro with the Nikon D7100 and now the D7200, I'd like to add video as an option to the business, and the FZ2500 would be a great addition to my tools of the trade. I appreciate any input you can give me; at your convenience, of course, thanks!
I'm using an old FZ30 for work and shooting macro with hand held; the anti-shake on even that camera is more than adequate. I'm looking to upgrade. Thanks for the info.
+Suzette Allen ...The FZ1000 dropped to $598 now, and it was only $499 on Prime Day, and it seemed too good to pass up, so I'll have to wait a bit longer for the FZ2500. You have to hand it to Panasonic though, they had a good 4 year run with the FZ1000
Thanks for the review. I'm a videographer with an FZ-1000 and I HATE no audio out and the SD card slot on the bottom, but overall I really like the camera. I'll have to check out the 2500
Hello Suzette! Thanks for your helpful review. In have some questions to you...Is it true that the external mic in fx1000 doesnt work during 4k filming?.. I want to buy one of these camera's. Which one is better do you think? For me are zoom and smooth video very important. 1- Lumix fz1000 2- Canon 750d 3- Nikon D5300
The external mic does work in 4K on theFZ1000. Since video is important, I would go with the FZ2500. You can record video at a higher bit-rate, and you have the headphone jack out so you can monitor your audio with the FZ2500.
I am seriously thinking about buying this camera in 10 days. 3 questions: 1) Can I manually focus the lens? 2) In the P mode, the camera will automatically adjust the aperture and shutter speed, right? 3) using this camera for nature photography, if my hand accidently presses a button on the back, all I have to do to fix it is shut the camera off and turn it back on, right? Thank you.
Possibly the best review I've seen of the FZ2500. I particularly liked how you added that bit about the sync speed - no one seems to mention it. Only suggestion - pick a better thumbnail haha!
Can you help me understand the difference between the FZ 1000 Ii and the FZ 2500? I can’t decide which to buy, very similar specs but slight price difference. Thanks!
Hi Suzette, aspiring videographer here - would you think I'd be better off with the FZ2500 or Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera? Both similarly priced. Or... could you do a comparison video for both products?
thanks for a very comprehensive review. I am debating whether the 2500 is worth about double the price. Are the touch screen, built in ND filters, and improved stabilization worth it? This I am not so sure of. Anyone have experience with both?
You could give a comparison of pictures and videos from both cameras, no mention about 4k not having image stabilization is it same in 2500? I've heard that the FZ1000 gives better image quality because the 2500 has a bigger zoom but not many show a good comparison. My FZ1000 was used daily for over 500 days the flip screen eventually stopped working and my audio in is now sensitive I still love it next time ill be more careful a few times I almost dropped my FZ1000 and caught it with the flip screen, kinda saved the camera at the same time but broke the LCD, I'm looking to get an external monitor for my FZ1000, no money for a new one to finish my documentaries.
This is a great video I have the fz1000 and I still love it. Could u please do a video on how to use the camera on manual mode I think it would really help
Thanks so much for the video. I have been in love with the 2500 for quite some time now. Sadly i can't have it at the moment so i am stuck with my D3200 and a stupid Tamron lens 18-200 which shoots anything but sharp pictures. The original nikkor 18-55 is much sharper.
What is the manual focus like during a zip zoom on the FZ2500? If you auto focus on a far distant subject at maximum zoom, then switch to manual focus mode and fast zoom out to wide and back in again at close up, does the lens maintain focus throughout the range and hold it at the wide angle end? Almost performing like a par focal lens ( although I think the lens itself is not actually a par focal lens?) Thanks
Luis, I've used the FZ1000 in quite a few situations (including events such as weddings) and at the wide end of the zoom range, the FZ1000 (and FZ2500) has an f/2.8 maximum aperture and does fairly well in low light (though it requires pushing the ISO a bit higher than you may prefer, resulting in lower quality images). When you zoom in, however, the FZ1000 moves to a max aperture of f/4 (the FZ2500 to f/4.5) which hasn't worked too well for me when shooting in low light. My solution is to carry a Panasonic GX85 body ($300 used) with a low light prime lens (such as the Pansonic 20 1.7, 24 1.7 or 42 1.7) and that works out very well. I shoot with both cameras rolling at the same time (the FZ1000 for the wide shot and the GX85 for the medium/tight shot) holding it on a 2-camera bracket. See videos about putting 2 cameras on one bracket here: ruclips.net/video/CDG5819slec/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KAb6Q3GLJGM/видео.html
Hello, I do not speak English, so I'm going to ask a translator. I would buy a 2000, but several people said that the photo was not as sharp as the 1000 photos. Is that right too (I would change from Fz 200)
FZ2500 has sd card where you can get to it but battery door is still buried on the bottom so you have to take it off the tripod. One fix is to get an adapter plate for $80.
Is this camera better than P900? I'm new at photography. Just starting and not ready for a dslr. I want something easy to use and take awesome pictures. Any advice is much appreciated.
@@crustydog1666 You are right the FZ300 has very good weather sealing. I got it over the FZ2500 I rented both and the FZ300 the lens was sharper and faster focusing.
I think the FZ2500 because of the Touch Screen focusing. It will allow you to quickly shift the point of focus if the camera locks on to the wrong subject.
We shot a wedding ceremony with the FZ1000 in 4K and I believe it was about 40 minutes. We did have the monitor off and no zooming while shooting. My gues is the FZ2500 is the same. Shooting 4K allows you to "zoom in" in post.
