Great episode - I really like when you share letters you receive from viewers. When I started collecting as a kid in the 1970’s my mentor was a philatelic traditionalist so I learned a lot about US and Western European philately so I really appreciate the way you showcase world wide philately. There is so much out there to enjoy.
I am still pinching myself! I can’t believe the stamps I sent made it in the video!! I am so glad you like them as much as I do! Laura’s cameo was great, I am still so excited for season 4! I think you could film in front of a blank background and talk and we would all still watch your videos. I love how sending potatoes in the mail is a thing, that is so funny!
Don't I know it. I can't go to the Chicago show next month because our new house closes that week (yeah, like the house wouldn't be there when I get back).😁
I so much appreciate your enthusiasm for the hobby. In addition, I love learning and philately so much fills that desire along with the research. You and your channel are just awsome !
Another great video- I love a good Cinderella stamp story! Those stamps JNF overprint stamps are too cool. Also looking forward to watching Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller now. 👏👏
Those Revenue Stamps are awesome. I've recently started having great interest in Back of the Book Stamps such as Revenues. Some Revenue Stamps are the most beautiful and interesting stamp types in all of philately.
They sure are, even the new bright green/pink recent revenues are something worth admiring. They all had a purpose and they are quite something to look at.
"You don't need an expensive stamp or expensive collection to really enjoy and learn from the hobby." Well said and so true. Thanks for the new post and for reaffirming my small and inexpensive collection is "worth" something. And being from Nova Scotia, I love the new Bluenose stamps. The new issue is beautiful. How does one go about finding sources for inexpensive worldwide stamps? I would love to find a couple of reliable sources to order from.
Absolutely! All of our collections are worth SO much. There is so much to enjoy in this wonderful hobby. For worldwide stamps I primarily use Hipstamp.com and eBay. I also shop from the issuing postal company when new issues are released.
Love your videos. My plan is to draw and paint my own stamps on canvas and you've certainly given me some serious inspiration about what makes an interesting stamp. Best to you and yours
Graham, as always, I enjoyed watching your new video. Always learning something new. I am glad that you got the pair of flip flops I've sent you. If you open the packages, you'll see that there is a message on the edges of the flip flops. You are correct, they are unused. Thank you for all you do to keep this hobby alive in the digital world.
Fun and informative as always ... your correct pronunciation of "Pakistan, Afganistan..." I am sure is adding to your appeal with collectors from that region. Well done!
Thanks again Graham! Always fun and interesting! I vote for a travel budget! I'm sure a patreon account can reach your goals! Best regards, Wayne Augustine, Stamp accumulator.
This one was a doosey! I have many international stamps that I need to explore. I have been mostly concentrating on Early American, British Empire, and the rest of Europe. This episode has inspired me to delve into the Middle Eastern region and Africa.
Another great video Graham. Shame that the boss has tied the purse strings but I’m sure you will manage to cut them. You have been sent some very nice stamps there and love the rhino print. All the best (also) Graham
Not TikTok, but I have been thinking about making a Philatelic RUclips channel for quite some time now... I'm already doing a bit research and writing down words so who knows 🥴
I, as usual, thoroughly enjoyed your #philately. You mentioned about visiting a tropical island -I’ll suggest you and Laura to visit us in Sri Lanka once a pandemic travel restrictions are over. It’s a wonderful place to explore and who knows you’ll find a Dull Rose 😀. Take care!
I like your passion for the hobby, It’s the same as mine for early baseball cards. I was recently given the family collect of stamps that my great grandfather started way back when. I never understood the hobby and now regret missing all the years I should have been collecting. I finally get what is so appealing about it. It is a Beautiful hobby and I think of it as collecting mini art peaces and find just as art that some stamps just appeal to me regardless of its value though I do hunt the bigger valued ones while building the collection.
Hey Graham, great video as usual. I have moved. I have not watched your videos for a while. I came back to France...I brought all my collection with me, and it is finally here. Lucky me, I only collect two countries, and not everything. China and Hong-Kong) Remember me? Great video as usual. Until next time, David Colombier-Barban.
What an interesting and fascinating video this is, Graham - one of your best. I really do hope that you manage to get to the London Stampex in September/October. I already have a pass to go on Thursday 30 September and it would be a great honour and joy to meet you in person. UK is now accepting travellers from USA so let's hope that the reverse is in operation by then so that Brits can freely travel to the US. Jackson looks quite at home where you have out him ! Best wishes to you and Laura and stay safe.
It was interesting to know about revenue stamps. I live in Kolkata, here in the 70's I believe, some sort of revenue had to be paid for keeping a radio, or a TV. The person having a radio/tv had to get himself registered and pay through stamps. Special type of stamps were issued for the purpose. Stamps were fixed on the book of registration. The owner of the radio/tv must have the book of registration with him and get it stamped at regular interval of time with the required fees.
That one was obvious Graham, Laura wants more of your time dedicated to her and she wants a new dress ;-) So bring her to London and visit Harrods and Liberties
I wait till the last moment to book for London. Currently we can travel but have to test before the flight and again at arrival. Although vaccinated I still can get the virus. No issue to test before the flight but at arrival again is a risk, when that turns out to be positive it will get very pricey with a 10 days stay in an isolated hotel. That is subject to change though, so lets wait
Thanks Graham , appreciate the research you put in - makes the episodes very interesting. Thinking out aloud .. could # Philately be a medium that philatelists could use to exchange stamps. ? Would be fun way of making new friends, and sharing stamps . Look forward to the next season ..
They are indeed very generous! Yes I picked up some mail earlier this week that I am yet to go through, but I think I saw something from you, looking forward to checking it out 😊
It's cool to have a piece of Sawakin in your hands; a royal city, slave trading hub, trading port, abandoned ruins, all the crazy stuff that went on, one part of its history was a mail clerk cancelling a stamp, and now you have it.
I have a Shakespeare stamp in my collection it's over 400 years old ,I had buy some old books and got some new stamps out of it ,I would love to send you a picture of it maybe you can hopefully tell me more about it, thanks for teaching me a lot about stamps.

Graham, I would like you to note how the first president of India's eyes seems to peek through the letters somewhat ominously, or maybe just suspiciously.
Hi graham te veo desde ase algunos anos a predemos muncho tengo como 100,000 estampillas de 100 paises las estampillas son desde 1890. al 1960 desconosco el valor de las estampillas como puedo saber el valor

Gotta love them Cinderella stories. YES definitely watch the classic Tommy Tricker... its a bit of a dated movie, but it was a fun one for its time.
Another fabulous #philately episode. it was great pleasure for me that u finally received the letter I hope u like it ☺️ best regards and greetings 🙂😊

"You don't need an expensive stamp..." No, but the airfare might run you some bucks.
Its really nice to watch #exploringstamps as you share tons of new things.
Love your videos. My plan is to draw and paint my own stamps on canvas and you've certainly given me some serious inspiration about what makes an interesting stamp. Best to you and yours

Fantastic video!!! I like this long format videos!!! And many thanks for your letter!! I appreciate it!! 😊
I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of all the cool modern postage stamps you receive in your mail! Great episode Graham!
Fun and informative as always ... your correct pronunciation of "Pakistan, Afganistan..." I am sure is adding to
your appeal with collectors from that region. Well done!
Another great video! One of your future videos should include an interview with your mail carrier.
Great idea! I think Rodney is camera shy, but I will have to ask him. 😊
That was brilliant -- made me smile the whole way through.

I imagine the mail clerk thinking, "What's with this guy and all the flip-flops?"
🤣 I imagine that they are not too happy. The clerks at my post office don’t seem to be having a good time.
They are thongs…
I thought thongs are some threads worn as panties? I get confused 🤔

Finally watched Charade last night (I’ve been pestering my partner to watch it with me since I saw the episode where you first mentioned it). Let’s see how long it is before I can get him to watch Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller with me 🤪
As always awesome. So what your saying is, you won't be buying an authentic inverted Jenny anytime soon...🤣

Replace those cut stamps with my arm and we have had a similar experience with drones, lol.
I also have a question about a stamp that I think may be my favorite but can’t find not one for sale on EBay or any references on line.
I believe it may be worth $300 as a single.
The stamp Is a south Australian-New South Wales and a beautiful light blue 50 shilling duty stamp.I know about the name change .
Is this correct and would the value be more if two are still connected?
What’s also great about the stamp is that it’s stamped as a New South Wales along with old the South African on top on mint unused with gum still intact.
