Top Tens are notoriously difficult to compile and even worse when trying to put them in order. For me there are a handful of films I’d say would be included any day of the week primarily The Wicker Man (The ‘73 original, of course) which wormed its way into my brain when I was 14 and never left. Now it’s an annual event and still stands up today as one of the most intelligent, unnerving, fascinating horror/thriller/drama/musical hybrids ever … … other would include The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Back To The Future, Blade Runner, The Thing and Silent Running. Lost In Translation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are my two favourite romantic movies then the likes of Candyman, Strange Days, Deep Red, The Fisher King, Taxi Driver, Happiness and Gummo, the latter being a film I’d put off watching for ages but grabbed the Criterion release last year and instantly fell in love with it. Bizarre, disturbing, hilarious, heartfelt and utterly unique it comes highly recommended! But I’ll leave it there before I end up posting an essay but it’s always great to hear other peoples favourites.
Awesome picks there Stuart - I really need to see Long Good Friday. I've always thought the middle of Saving Private Ryan is a bit too talky and clunky making it a very good but not great film.
Interesting idea for a video matey.. not sure many of those would make my Top 10s overall but certainly some quality films.. big fan of American Psycho and Wolf of Wall Street .. I picked up Quadrophenia recently but never seen it before so looking forward to a first time watch shortly 😁👍
Can’t go wrong with Long Good Friday. American Psycho is captivating, it’s very different to other movies that revolve around a killer. Superb video 👍😀
This is a great idea for a video 😃 American Psycho is a great pick as is Whiplash 🥁You have to watch that ASAP especially if you love music , the JK Simmons performance is A1 👌🏻Schindlers List is a masterpiece and probably the saddest movie I’ve ever seen.. brilliant video Stuart great idea 🤩
Great video mate. Yep Lee has great taste. Better than yours....no sign of Grease 😅 Get on Whiplash Stuart absolutely phenomenal. I think Damien Chazelle is my favourite working director ❤
That's a great top 10 Stuart. 2 scenes in The Long Good Friday stick out for me. Obviously the taxi scene at the end, but also when Bob Hopkins has just arrived back from the states & is striding through the airport to meet Derek Thompson, & suddenly the music just kicks in, absolute classic. Quadrophenia, well I'm a huge fan of The Who, an absolute no brainer for me 😂. I've never seen Whiplash, another one for the "check it out" list I think. Cheers mate 👍.
I agree top films lists are constantly changing. I have a list of my favourite 500, and even though i change the order, and put new ones in regularly, there are a lot of them i still think are too high or low. My favourite 20 at this moment in time, feel free to give your thoughts: 20 The Conjuring 2 (2016) 19 The Silence Of The Lambs (1991) 18 The Excorcist 3 (1990) 17 Kill Bill (2003/4) 16 Scream (1996) 15 Star Trek: Generations (1994) 14 Django Unchained (2012) 13 Dirty Harry (1971) 12 Red (2010) 11 Halloween Kills (2021) 10 Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) 9 Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country (1991) 8 The Hateful Eight (2015) 7 Beverly Hills Cop (1984) 6 Love Actually (2003) 5 Die Hard (1988) 4 A Fish Called Wanda (1988) 3 Damien: Omen 2 (1978) 2 Halloween (1978) 1 Pulp Fiction (1994)
If nothing else this list shows my favourite genres are usually horror, action, and comedy. That i'm a Star Trek fan, and my favourite director is Tarantino.
Your friend Lee has very good taste (apart from Flash Gordon of course 😉) obviously we would all pick different titles for a top ten but I could watch all of these over and over (except the one I mentioned 😁) nice mixture of genres and from different decades. I live just around the corner from Quadrophenia Alley 🧐 take care mate👍😃👍
Awesome video Stuart 😀🍿🎸🎶 ‘Whiplash’ is incredible Stuart; also one of my fav films ever 🙌 Absolutely adore ‘Quadrophenia’ aswell bud; seen it multiple times 🤩🍿🇬🇧🎸🎶 Private Ryan is one of my fav War films and one of my fav Spielberg films 👍 Love Wolf Of Wall Street; absolutely fantastic film man 🙌 Excellent list from Lee this is mate; keep up the awesome work Stuart 🤩
Interesting idea Stuart, think your friend has got good taste. You should get him on a video with you. Haven't watched Whiplash, you two have similar tastes. Can see why you are friends
Whiplash is good, watched it once. Not sure i'd watch it again in a hurry. Too much to see😂 Full metal jacket is probably my favourite war film but am sure theres better. Saving private ryans good, but tom hanks annoys me😂 Fury is another war film i'd watch over it. The Long good friday. Can't argue perfect film. Goodfellas over casino for me too, but great performances in both, just more fun in goodfellas 😂
Great video Stuart 👍 Your friend has a great variety of taste in movies 😎 My list of movies not in this video would include:- *Back To The Future. *Die Hard. *E.T. *Scream 1996. *Halloween 1978 *A Nightmare On Elm Street 1984. *Crocodile Dundee. War movie wise is hard. I also like, not mentioned: Full Metal Jacket. Casualties Of War. Gallipoli.
The Long Good Friday is on my to-watch list. You mentioned it's British, so the Derek Thompson you mentioned, is that the same guy who played Charlie in Casualty for about 30 years?
Hey Stuart, your friend has some good taste, “whiplash”!is a really good film and I fell in love w/ Melissa Benoist after watching this. Star Wars 1977 I’m not lying. I think I seen it at least 9 to 12 times that summer., I was fortunate enough that the shopping center my mom shopped at had a two movie theater and she would drop me and my brother off in that mall. It was a little mall instead of shopping. We would see the movie as she said it was quicker. Lol Because I was seven and my brother was five, So she would put us in our seats and then be back when the movie was over. Couldn’t do that stuff today, my friend, Take care of yourself
@stuartgeorge2324 my son recommend your channel, I can't stop watching it, you are a top man Stuart, I've had to give up work due to ill health, and it makes my day to watch your reviews.
