Great episode Joe. I reckon you did well with the tyre change and no shame having a break from the ground and spending a wet night in a van. Looking forward to your net episodes. Cheers.
Beautiful as always, Joe. And you'll relax more about tyre changing once you've done a few dozen! Top tip just in case you didn't already know, try to put the new tyre some place warm while you're removing the old one. In the sun, under an electric blanket, on the bonnet of a car, whatever. Warm tyres are softer and much easier to fit. Have fun and ride safe!
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. Yer I’ve changed the tyres on this bike 4 or five times (pinch the tube once 🤦🏼♂️) . Thanks for the tip, I didn’t know that but it does make sense, I’ll try it next time. Thanks mate
Stunning colours and textures from the sand and water Joe. The pink lake reminds me of a visit to something similar at Shark Beach just out side of Ceduna. One of the best accessories to have is the good old centre stand. Great vid 👍
Hey Joseph, this trip is so much different!! Your video is absolutely captivating! Your shots and storytelling took me on an incredible journey from the comfort of my screen. Keep living the adventure and sharing it with us. Can't wait for the next one! 🏍️🌍
Absolutely fabulous! Each episode gets better and better. That intro was soooo cool. Perfect sync on the letters. Kudos. Please please make the drone shots longer. They are so good, I'm sure you can pull another 2-5 seconds out of them. The outro photos were fantastic too. Great selection. I've been moving house these last three weeks, so no motorbike riding except transferring them (3!) from one house to the other, but watching this video has pulled me out of the doldrums. Thanks so much.
People tell me crossing the Nullarbor is boring, with nothing to see, how wrong you prove them with just this video. Beautiful images, lovely colours & a beautiful soft focus. Stunning work 👍
Fantastic photos Joe. The drone shots of the lake in particular. I spent nearly 3 months there in the early 90s. Broke as, eating salmon and rice ,waiting for the tax return so i could leave. Not that i really wanted to untill we found half a seal!
Love following your adventures Joe. I'm glad to see im not the only one who likes to take photos od their bike in nice places .😉👍🏻 love your pics at the end of the videos
Hey Joe, top stuff man. Im sure you have a well oiled system by now, but a ratchet strap through the wheel & over the seat will hold the height while you pop the axle & spacers in place. Great video again, I think your waiting for the shadows adds a lush feel. Cheers
As always I enjoyed u sharing your travels with us all, we have been on road for weeks and tonight our last night on the road and no more camping, new motorcycle did well, should be a real bed tomorrow night, anyway really enjoy your shows, thanks again
That drone footage of you crossing between the contrasting water colours is epic, love it. Enjoying your travels again/still. What do you do with all those fabulous images you take, are you putting them into print ?
Hi joe Incredible footage mate !! wow that drone footage was just awesome !! Thanks for a great episode .. looking forward for more We just came back from riding the Himalayas on Himalayan !! thats an awesome machine .. hand on heart we flogged that machine to the max .. to altitude up to 18000 ft .. dint miss a beat !! Thanks again
thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. Your ride in the Himalayas would have been epic, hopefully one day I'll get to ride up there. Nice to see the bike did what it does best, keeps on going.
Another great video Joe!! I don't know what you plans were, but were you going to go on the old nullabor road or the Eyre Hwy. The old nullabor road is quite the adventure. Stay upright
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. I am a bit further along than this episode as it takes me a while to edit, I do a section of the Old Eyre HWY, while dealing with the south Australia weather 😳
I agree...always take the side track. Plenty of hidden gems. Thanks for the tips on changing the tyre and tube, something I've been dreading. Stunning drone footage again, thanks
Glad it helped, the best thing to do is put on your own tyres at your place front and back so you have done it at least once before having to deal with it out on the road.
Great video’s Joe 👌🏻 love the stills and the droneshots ❤ wish we had such empty roads here in Europe keep up the good work and drive safe! Greetings from a Dutch himalayan rider
@13.27. Not a good start when you try to get the axle nut off the wrong way lol. You did well though mate. Watching this trip I'm contemplating riding over to WA myself to visit my son in the coming months. Might be warmer and dryer too haha.
I was expecting a bit more footage of cursing from the tyre change , bugger . I reckon the caravan must have felt like luxury after windy and rainy nights in the tent . Cheers mate .
Great images mate, the drone stuff looked great, high AF.😆.Changing tyres..It's lways harder in the cold. Skinned knuckles and then hopes n dreams that it goes to plan. A tyre did take me a couple of hours once or twice....
Awesome video mate, how i wish i could do what you are doing atm,i have the Himilayan but dont have the time, keep up the awesome videos, cheers from Brisbane...

Lovely. So how long did the tire replacement take? You mentioned it could be 15 minutes or 3 hours. You seemed to finish at night. So was it close to 3 hours? Amazing still pics at the end. With this much flat land, you must get some strong winds from time to time, eh?
Getting the wheel off the bike, taking the tyre off the rim, swiping the tube get the tyre back on the rim then the wheel back on the bike was about 25 - 30mins, I waited a couple hours for the glue to dry on the patch on the tube I repaired so that was the reason I finished in the dark. Yes if the next couple of episode I have to deal with very strong headwinds forcing me to change where I camped as I needed protection from the wind.
yes there was a bit of tread left even though it was on the wear indicator. But the next town with any help if I screwed it up or had a major tyre issue out there was Norseman which was over 1100km away. Hi Jimmy, I got my Himi second hand as it is all I could afford, so it maybe sometime before I can get a second hand 450. But the 450 looks like they have improved it in just about every way, 6th gear will help, the better suspension will help get through the rough stuff quicker and easier, (with the 411 I have to slow it up a bit, it will still do it but the suspension throughs you around if you go too fast). The power will help when the bike has all the extra weight with gear. It will be interesting to see the torque difference at the same point in the rev range, the peak torque on the 411 is low, in the 450 it is quoted at a lot higher rev so I would like to know at the low end what the torque is on the 450 to compare (I still think it will be an improvement). I'f like to try one, if I had the cash and the test went well then probably.
My girlfriend Deb says you have a good last name, she's a Ryan as well. Beautiful camera work. I got into a hotel just ten minutes before a storm hit on my trip. Later, after leaving a stormy Georgia, I dried my tent and sleeping bag at another hotel, but I can't remember which state just now..... 🤔 Fortunately, a tire change was not required. How did you maintain the tire balance?
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. ahhh the Ryan, a bit of Irish heritage doted in all parts of the world 😂. Making it by 10min is well timed 👌🏻. To balance if I had weights to attach, I put the axle back in then find somewhere to prop it up one side, hold the other and spin it, the heavy side will settle at the bottom so I make the top and attach weight to that spot, repeat that until it's balanced. But sometime I have to go with out if I don't have weights with me.
@@freewayproject she's a Canadian Ryan, so yes, the Irish did get around a bit. 🤣 As for the wheel, I was wondering if you might have weights with you for the eventual tire change. I would have used the same method as you, and have before when services were not available. That said, I prefer using a service, changing a tire is a PITA! Scenically spectacular episode Joe, thanks added this quaint little place to my round Oz trip bucket list
Yes, I have no idea why this isn't one of the most well known spots. So much within only a few km.
I love the mountains but there's something special about an ocean coastal environment. The contrasts in the area were awesome.... thanks
