Beefcake is full of crap. It’s well known Haku grabbed him by the throat in the locker room and lifted him off the ground and it took Tonga kid, Hogan, Pat Paterson and Vince to talk Haku into letting him go.
They still look like a team. More like a beer drinking team than a wrestling team, but still... I love these guys. Lovely people and great, memorable characters. Almost 30 years since last I saw them on tv, but so many memories of them remain as fresh as if it were last week.
He was a Car Salesman here in Central Florida for years... Came into Amura all of the time to get sushi for Lunch. I knew I recognized his face, but my friend whom is a big Pro Wrestling fan came in to see me and grab a beer once and immediately said 'DUDE! THAT IS HAKU!!' Super nice guy and clearly in pain as he has quite a hitch in his gait.
I saw the last Monday Night Raw, before the WWF became the WWE and the small crowd was packed into one section of the arena, so it would seem more packed. They let me in, with a sign that said, "Below Me", w/ a downward-pointing arrow (yes, it was taken from an SNL Jeopardy skit). Every time there was a lull in the action, I would stand up, put the sign over my head and bellow out, "BELOW ME!". That one packed little section of fans cracked up every time.

It's crazy how much I loved the "good guys" as a kid, and how much I loathed the heels. And how that's kind of reversed now where I really appreciate how great the heels were in creating that magic. I'd seriously rather hang out with these guys listening to their stories than my rock heroes.

The Dream Team! Loved watching these guys wrestle. The Hammer was outstanding and Brutus of course went on to bigger things as the Barber. Great interview.
I'll give credit to Brutus where it's due. Around 1998-99 Brutus was doing the small show circuits and stopped by Worcester, Ma. to do a small match show. I remember watching Greg Valentine in Toronto back in the later 70's and was insane in the ring. I went to all the Maple Leaf Gardens shows back the and ringside first row was $12. I would buy the tickets the following Monday at the Box Office after a show and always had the best seat for $ 12 and I was 13 years old. Good times.

In Joe Namath’s rookie training camp his then teammate Wahoo McDaniel jumped on his back during sprints. Joe’s contract was for $427,000 and that was an unimaginable amount for that time and his terribly underpaid teammates resented him. After the Wahoo incident, Namath called a players only meeting where he said he didn’t care if he was liked or not but if anybody had a problem with him he’d talk about it with them. He added that if talking couldn’t solve the problem he was willing to settle it with them any way they wanted. Unchallenged, that was the day he became the team’s leader.
Their pivotal match with British Bulldogs in Wrestlemania 2 still leaves me in awe. I recalled that was when I first started watching wrestling and wondering how a brawl could last that long. Lol.
