If you don't cover the topic, then I search elsewhere, but you are definitely #1 with me! Thank you, thank you, thank you from so many of us who sometimes forget to say that!
Thank you so much for these videos when Cricut change their DS features. You always explain them so clearly - unlike Cricut! And, usually in advance, so it's not a big surprise. The layer rename feature is so good. It may not be an actual cutting function, but it's so good for organisation, and knowing what layer does what in a complex design. I always use this in Inkscape and Photoshop, and miss it in DS.
You are a life saver! Thank you soo much for creating a detailed explanation on how to use all of the changes. I’m still a little unsure of how to use it but I’m grateful that I have your video.
You are one of the first "Cricut people" I found when a friend of mine got a Maker, and you're still the best! Even though I'm now fully comfortable with Cricut Design Space and the changes as they come, and quite skilled at Inkscape from your Design course, I still love to watch your videos and learn something new, a technique, a pattern, or just see what else you've designed for your fans!
Jennifer, Thank you for your very helpful videos! You have been my go to since I got my Cricut Maker two years ago. You always have the answer I'm looking for.
These are great additions to Design Space. I have made recommendations to Cricut to allow for naming the layers and I'm glad to see they are listening to their consumers.
I am so excited about these new changes in Design Space. I'll be watching your videos to clarify exactly how and when to use them, but weld was always so frustrating for me. These new changes are phenomenal!

Yahooooo! Happy Dance! I've been using illustrator for over 20 years and import my svg files all the time. Combine feature just saved me time on switching programs. Huge bonus for layer names... luckily I always named my layers before impoting just for that reason!

Great Cricut, we're getting there slowly!! Now just waiting for node editing for at least the free basic shapes which will make designing so much easier. I now have to design in Silhouette Studio save as svg and open in Design Space. I realise that there could be copyrighr issues with images but I'd settle for basic shapes!! It's been so much improved in the last year or so, so we're on the right track!
@@JenniferMaker I'll settle for basic shapes 😜 don't want to be greedy.. Asking for general node editing would really open a can of worms in the copyright field I think. 😁

These updates are wonderful! I just made something yesterday that I had welded and thought later on about something else that I wanted to make with the same image, but had to upload the image again because I could not unweld! This is great! Another thing that would be awesome for Cricut to add is the ability to do node editing! I had a scan n cut before my cricut and you could edit the nodes…it was such a great feature! Sometimes you need to adjust a shape just a bit, and you really can’t do that on the Cricut software. Maybe that will come at some point as well?? 🤞🏻. Thx you for going over the updates. I’m sure I’ll have to watch this a couple of times and play around with the new features. I’m new and just started to figure out the old functions. 😂
I'm with Mary...it's frustrating sometimes with the updates. You step away for a bit and then jump on Design Space to do something quickly and it doesn't look the same, buttons appear/disappear. With that said, I am glad Cricut continues to improve/add cool methods and understand it's progress. HOWEVER, one simple thing they did that aggravates me to no end...I HATE having to type in my entire email address every time I log in. Come on Cricut, many of us are single system users. You could at least have a drop down box we can select from or in settings be able to default DS with single user or multiple users - that way single users wouldn't have to type so much. Now, let me watch more of your amazing videos! Please keep 'em coming.
This is very exciting news! I was excited as soon as I saw combine was added! I just learned how to combine thru path in Inkscape from Vicki the other day. Jennifer, she is absolutely awesome!! I don't know what I'd do without her, when your not available 😃
I have also been using Photoshop/Illustrator since it was released and am so glad DS is making these changes. It is getting better and better. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for all you do. I am making a card that I need a circle cut out of my base card and my layered panel in the same place at ghe same time. None of these worked they welded it all together not slicing, the other options cut through the square which was my layer panel and not the circle. So I ended up just hiding one at a time and slicing. They really need to allow us to slice through multiple layers.
Oh WOW! Thank you for sharing and showing us the new rollout.. It's been a few years back since I used AI. This also reminded me of Inkscape. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! You created an awesome tutorial as always. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this. You are a gem! The things that I have always disliked about Cricut is the limited ability in DS and I prefer Silhouette Studio because it is more like Adobe Illustrator where I can do soooo much more. This new update is a huge advancement towards the capabilities of DS. I guess I will be sticking with my Cricut after all. thanks again!
Thank you for your excellent videos! I went to my settings and changed to this Beta version to try it out. The new features really helped me with a new project! I have rewatched your video and I am just not clear on Weld and the new Merge. They seem pretty much the same to me. I understand weld. How is Merge different? I liked seeing Basic cut, etc. in my Layers field, I widh they could have left that too. I am getting used to the new Design Space while waiting for me to get it. It is talking some getting used to, but I like the new features.
Love most of the new features, especially being able to rename a layer. I don't like that they took the text labels off the top buttons. Combine options are confusing. I appreciate your clear explanation of the changes.

I just learned how to combine thru path in Inkscape from Vicki the other day. Jennifer, she is absolutely awesome!! I don't know what I'd do without her, when your not available 😃
Wonderful! I'm so happy to hear that! 😊🌻
Wow! This is a big update! Thank you for explaining how to use it.
You're so welcome! 😊🌻
Excited about the ability to name the layers! Thanks for doing the demo.
You are welcome, Stacy!
Thanks! I'm so glad you produce these update videos. As well as all your other videos!
Glad you like them!
Thank you! Best teacher ever.
You're so kind, thank you!!
I have also been using Photoshop/Illustrator since it was released and am so glad DS is making these changes. It is getting better and better. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching! 😊🌻
This is so helpful Jennifer! Thank you. Looking forward to using these new tools.
Glad it was helpful! 🌻😊
Thank you, once again Jennifer! You are the BEST! Love You!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for always explaining things so I can understand.
You are so welcome!💗
Thank you for all you do. I am making a card that I need a circle cut out of my base card and my layered panel in the same place at ghe same time. None of these worked they welded it all together not slicing, the other options cut through the square which was my layer panel and not the circle. So I ended up just hiding one at a time and slicing. They really need to allow us to slice through multiple layers.
That would be a very useful feature!
Jennifer, thank you for this comprehensive video. I’m very happy about the ability to name my layers.
You are so welcome!
Jennifer thank you so much! You are so talented, knowledgeable, and a great teacher! Your amazing
Thank you so much!!😊🌻
You’re the best! Thank you so much for educating us because I would have been lost! ❤
Happy to help!
Oh WOW! Thank you for sharing and showing us the new rollout.. It's been a few years back since I used AI. This also reminded me of Inkscape. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! You created an awesome tutorial as always. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the kind words! 💗
thank you so much for doing this! I was at a loss on how these new changes were going to work. You are awesome.
You are so welcome, Lynn!
It really is! You are so welcome!
Thank you Jennifer - you're the best!
I'm happy to help!
Thank you I was wondering why my DS was still the same and not updated! I went and updated through my settings to Beta Tyyt
Merge Layers makes a Combine action permanent, and turns a Combine group into a single-layer object.
Thank you for clarifying things for us. You are amazing
Aww thank you so much for your kind words! 🌻😊
YES! Super excited for this! Love we have functionality like Adobe Illustrator now!
Me too!!
You are AMAZING Jennifer, thank you
Thank you so much! 😊🌻
I hope it is ok, but anytime anyone asks me about buying a Cricut or is it hard, I tell them to watch Jennifer Maker
Love most of the new features, especially being able to rename a layer. I don't like that they took the text labels off the top buttons. Combine options are confusing. I appreciate your clear explanation of the changes.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much your so amazing and easy to follow i learn so much every time i watch you 😊 Thank you
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much Jennifer. You are the best !

So glad I found you when I started this cricut journery. Thank you!

wow going to have to watch this a few times lol. Thank you for all your hard work
Same here. I will definitely have to watch it a few times to understand this. LOL
I recommend you try the functions out when they are available to you -- that's the best way to learn!
