Wow, manual transfer between Commercial and Generator. So if something were to happen and you lost commercial power, and one of you guys are somewhere off base, the facility would be down until you hightail it back to base to operate the manual transfer. You should suggest to your Supervisor that it would be best to invest in an ATS instead.
Does the ATS have an off position? Change over contactors can only engage and disengage it's coil. Is the generator hooked into a SCADA system? It's easy enough for personnel to start the generator then throw the switch once genset is online. It's not exactly switching that is fine remotely for safety, like HV.
