A masterpiece played by true masters.
Fabulous musicianship, and glorious energy even if the ensemble was not very tight (1st cello was perhaps too far away to hear across the stage...).
I love the sound that the first violinist produces. So warm and gutsy!
Listen to the tenderness of the Vienna Octet the attention to line and sheer beauty of sound: no scrunches!
Maestros,profesores grandes
I have listened to and watched a lot of versions of the Octet (1825) - its one of my absolute top favourite pieces along with Schubert's Quintet (1828), and Beethoven Op 131 (1826) - most wonderful and so different from the same time.
I really really love this version! Obviously having such fun playing it, and wonderful playing too - applauding violas, cellos and especially first violin. Lots of great touches, like the contrasts in texture in the scherzo when there is suddenly a shift to a long sustained notes - you gave those moments a great amount of breathing space in the music.
Please upload all the other Mendelssohn pieces from the concert because I’m a very big fan of Mendelssohn and Heifetz institute always has very likable interpretations on pieces that sometimes even makes me love a piece that I had disliked previously.

Lindo Octeto este de Mendelssohn. Buenos músicos también.
Just wanted to leave a sincere thank you to the Heifetz International Music Institute
and the musicians for a beautiful performance. I had been searching for a piece of music that had 8 performers for an art piece I did for World Bee Day. This was the perfect piece and your talent was great inspiration and reference for it. If you wish to see my creation it can be found at Facebook.com/roxyreedcreations. I also posted the link to this video so others might enjoy it too. Thank you each and every one of you for sharing your love and passion through the music.
Bellísima música. Soy Carmina Toledo.
On a du mal à croire qu'un si jeune compositeur ai pu composer un tel morceau de musique !!
I've never heard music so murdered by scrunches, pressing on the string for tone quality and exaggerated amplitude of vibrato and swell for tender moments. And this is considered the ideal in string playing judging by the comments below. Heifetz who never committed such sins is rolling in his grave.
"Pianos and fortes must be strictly observed and more strongly emphasized than is usual in pieces of this character."
-What Mendelssohn wrote on the manuscript
Heifetzs recording of this was one of the worst anyway he was only a prima dona soloist
This isn't an institute in honor of J. Heifetz. Daniel Heifetz is a living American violinist who started the institute, though I believe he is more of a figurehead.
@@michaeltyree5007 they were clearly going for the obvious misnomer otherwise they would've gone for D. heifetz institute.
Standing takes the attention away from the music, while giving the performers more importance.
They don't even have good ensemble. This should not have the name Heifetz attached to it. He would not approve.
