As of writing this the Sleep Token vid has 24k views , massive respect to the drummer whoever you may be and the rest of the group , may the joy you bring to your fans continue for many years.
He is an awesome drummer You can tell that he is in a connected state with the music ..that it lives in him Sleep Token is comprised of true artists that live and breathe their gifts/art and that's why they are so damn good Worship
This guy is really really phenomenal. A couple points you made that I want to re-emphasize, his use of decoration is just so tasteful and rich. That aspect of his playing reminds me a lot of Aric Improta, actually. But the similarities kinda end there. II has his own very VERY distinct style of playing. You can hear a ton of jazz influence in his fills. I know a bit of his pre-ST history, but I would love to know if he ever studied under some gospel or jazz fusion types. There's a bit of that that I can hear and it's part of that signature sound of his. Also, his relaxed nature is so unusual when compared with the music. There's some drummers I've pointed out before who seem "bored" behind the kit, which is a big turnoff for me, but that's not what I mean in this case. He doesn't seem bored, but he seems very fluid and at ease. It adds a delicacy to his playing that is really neat. He has this odd choppy flick of his wrist that you don't see much of when he's attacking the cymbals on the further reaches of the kit. He comes at them very horizontally. Anyway... Enough rambling. Major kudos to II. If he's seeing this, bravo 👏👏👏 Out-freaking-standing work. Awesome video and awesome commentary. I'm gonna rewind this and watch it a few more times 😆
Idk who any of the band are (which is ok with me lol) but I definitely get the jazz feeling, too. The complexity and the in the pocket feeling reminds me of jazz musicians. I also get the feeling that Vessel has, at the very least, a music theory, if not jazz, background too. The playing with dissonance and chords with 7ths and 9ths feels familiar in that way. They're phenomenal musicians.
I witnessed the worship of sleep token a couple of weeks ago from directly above and behind II they're just as good live as on the record. Definitely worth making time to see when the church is in town.
He's not in any other bands, Though he is working on solo material between things. He was in a minorly successful UK deathcore band before forming ST, If you look hard enough they have some videos up from when that band was active. The only member I have not found info on is III, The bassist.
The guitarist is the only one I can't figure out! Think I managed to figure out the old & new bassists and I think the "solo project" is the old guitarist. Don't tell me though 😂
Also, good on ya for mentioning the poly rhythm on the cymbal at the end! Yours is the only reaction I've seen where that little nugget was picked up on.
Just found your channel with this video! Not sure if you heard, but ST recently released Sundowning (first album) and This Place Will Become You Tomb instrumental albums, really lets you hear all the little details in each song. But the mention of how relaxed he looks is one of my favorite things, as well as their whole vibe. I hope to see them live one day!
Vessel II is amazing. I have seen some of his solo stuff as well and I could listen to him play for ages. And as you say this isn't challenging for him, one video I've seen with him is a fair bit quicker than this.
Never heard of this band before they sound like Deftones even though I haven’t heard any of the singing yet but I’m definitely going to check them out thank you.
I’ve not been cymbal shopping in yeeeears. I just use an electric kit these days as I live in a terraced house in London. When I was drumming on acoustic kits my first kit came with basic Meinl cymbals which were very low quality. I then went onto Sabian since then. I was super narrow minded and basically didn’t even look at other cymbal companies. Just expanded my Sabian collection with AA, AAX, and HH cymbals.
I will not spoil it for you, but all I can say is that if you really want to know, you're just one Google search away from knowing. But I will not be telling you myself as I respect the people who wish to remain in the dark and respect their anonymous nature. Though, it's almost as Sleep Token wants you to know who they really are at the same time. There are also some cryptic clues about in their latest album in a couple of songs about Vessel (I)'s identity at least. But again, if you really want to know they your answers like in a simple search.

I absolutely love it when he carries over fills into the next measure, and he does it a bunch in this one.

I'm sure you ate up the recent interview with Drumeo; sounds like you know what you're talking about!
I think there is no words after watching Hypnosis, you just REACT.
That drummer is from another world.
I'm most impressed with the fact that a drummer has never heard of Istanbul cymbals. II is a legand
I haven’t bought new cymbals in yeeeaaaaars. I was a Sabian AA and Hand-Hammered fan before going down the electric kit route.
funny actually. so much of this makesme question the "drummer". no disrespect...but a lot of this makes me question.
Was so excited when they dropped the tease for this - II is a beast! Worship!

The way he hits the right crash back and forth is interestjng

What’s the other band called?

I can tell ya who the bassist is, his other band is a polar opposite of sleep token lmao
@@mattsolegod let’s hear it!
That kit is fuckin sick

I'm telling yall, II Mario Duplantier and Austin Archey are on a league of their own
Increíble este baterista, una pasada tiñe un nivel muy alto!!!!!!!! Demasiado.
Istanbul are custom hand made cymbals,i think quite expensive.
The drumming is amazing. Personally not a fan of the bands music but damn, that drummer is insane.
Brilliant drummer. A cross between luke holland and nic from northlane.
O.M.G it's very good drummers
Never heard of this band before they sound like Deftones even though I haven’t heard any of the singing yet but I’m definitely going to check them out thank you.
Vocalist is nothing like deftones
@@stannats1493 yeah I saw that. I’m three songs in and they really don’t sound anything like Deftones. Still a good band.
@@SimPoolman they are a PHENOMENAL BAND. You should check out their live stuff. So cinematic. Honestly so unique
@@stannats1493 you’re right. Vessel is significantly better
They cited Deftones as an influence early on, But I really think they've evolved way beyond any serious comparisons now.
How do you not know Istanbul symbols?
I thought the exact same thing haha! Very surprising to see a drummer that isn't familiar with them
You’re the man
Very kind, thank you for sending that slice of positivity 🤘🏻
ii is a monster.
Also, Go Birds!
Worship. 🙏🏼
E-A-G-L-E-S-EAGLES! 🤘🏻
He plays like Delta Empire...
I thought i was the only one 😅
He's in a few bands right now. Use your ears and you'll eventually figure out which ones 😉
I’m not that good what bands
He's currently just in Sleep Token & working on a project with George Lever, Possibly a solo project.
@@BLeeFAFO he's got some drum playthroughs on RUclips from his (old?) band, they're pretty sick.
This guy plays too much!!! It's the heart of the band.
React to Bts jhope more mv 💜
Just my non-spoiler theory as to who II is, I'm thinking they're a studio drummer given his insane drum talent.
You are a drummer but never heard of istanbul cymbals? Yhea right 🙄

[spoiler alert]
Adam Pedder
Adam Pender is white. Vessel II is black.
