I’ve had so many bikes… most brands really… all of which I have loved, but I still hark back to an old RE 500 with battered panniers that I bought quite a few years back… I had to get a train to Staffordshire to ride home… had never ridden a right hand gear change and had a somewhat challenging ride home but I loved doffing around the Oxfordshire lanes on that bike… endless hours of pootling! Thanks for these vids Freddy and Monica… they are reminding me of the simple pleasures and how one can take real pleasure from a ride, a coffee, a good old book or bike… lovely stuff 🤗

Freddie has ridden so many modern bikes, he's absolutely qualified to appreciate and re-appreciate his "old" Bonnie. He's not into impressing his followers with ownership of a string of fancy new & expensive rides. Instead, he prioritizes his $ so he can enjoy and share the broader aspects of motorcycling. Something all us bikers should remember.

I bought a new bike in 2020, my first brand new vehicle. I bought it outright with the intention of keeping it for a long time for the reason you discuss at the end of this film, to write a story with it. It started out perfect, spotless in the showroom, no miles, not a single blemish. A blank page, the same as every other bike of that type but now, three years and 15,000 miles later it’s been lightly modified to suit me, it’s been to 10 countries, it’s got emissions stickers and autoroute stickers from across Europe stuck to it, it’s got little marks and dings on it and I know exactly how, when and where every single one of them happened. I still find the grey dust from some Polish roadworks under the seat, it has a chain fitted in Lithuania, I have a picture of it with a little Estonian girl pretending to ride it. Three years in and we’ve only just started, I intend to ride it through every country in Europe and possibly beyond and one day when I can’t ride any more I hope someone with your viewpoint will buy it and keep adding to it’s story. A brand new bike on finance every two years is very nice i’m sure but I would feel like i’m missing out on something quite special if I hopped from bike to bike like that. I will buy another bike in the future, but I’ll always keep this one.

The most comfortable was a Harley style bike feet up front but simply could not get to grips with it I think I will always need two bikes one for out and out fun the other to trundle about like the old fart that I am !!!!!!! I do need to do something because it is putting me off riding which I never ever thought would happen !!

An urban fox trotting along the road in front of me. l loved my glimpses of Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk...I'm from Southend originally.. l will no doubt see some of the Kent, Sussex countryside.... all parts of my motorcycling youth.....long before l was visiting children in Blackheath. Lovely apartment Freddie, look forward to riding the Kent countryside....

Old bikes appeal to me most now as I am a retiree, having owned and ridden 43 bikes since 1968. In the beginning it was a brand new '68 Yamaha 250 DT-1, followed by years of multiple race bikes, and a 1970 CB750 Honda, all bought new. After marriage and no more racing, my last new bike was a 1980 RD350LC Yamaha. Thereafter was a series of mostly forgettable used touring rigs, and finally back on a brand new Ducati Monster in 2006, then a new ZX-14 in 2008. Then back to used bikes up until this year. Having sold my VFR500 V-Four '86 model on, I'm looking at a sub 500cc Adventure bike, new, in the spring. I love riding and hope to ride out my twilight years, enjoying the feelings I get while riding. Freddie, keep on making these great videos! You are an inspiration.

Totally agree with you about older Motorcycles and the character with history…earlier this Year I was absolutely gobsmacked to see a Honda CB500 in racing green which happened to be my 1st big bike. Upon closer inspection I realised that it was indeed my 1994 bike!
The memories came flooding back on the adventures I’d had including the previous owner to me…got to admit that I was also upset at the state it had become because of the attention it had been given after myself.

As a very little boy, my Dad, who was a very keen Motorcyclist and Motor Racing fan, took me to The British GP at Silverstone in 1956. Amongst the drivers were Stirling Moss and of course Fangio who won this GP. Vanwall, BRM, Ferrari and Maserati were some of the teams. I can remember little of the day sadly, but my dad saved the program which I still have! It is priceless to me. My 1972 Honda CB450 K5 is a wonderful reliable bike, when it's parked up in the garage I just stand and look at it wishing it could share it's memories as it started it's user life in the U.S. but something as old as this is not something I'd recommend for you Freddie, it's a bike to ride on good days and likes to be kept clean and well polished, stick with the riumph. Ride safe.

Freddie I am one of your viewers from Greece and I plan with my wife to come early in the spring to London. I need your help regardless where to find a place to rent a Bonneville and what you recommend for a place with a garage for 2-3 days near London area. My plan is to visit Bike Shed, some other motorcycle places and see some things of the beautiful London.

Morning. 7am, did the traffic noise wake you up? I know when I moved to London from, oddly enough, rural Brittany it took me weeks to get used to the constant sounds of the city, from the ever present hum of traffic to the seemingly constant sirens.
Thank you for the trip out to Blackheath, especially as it looked like miserable weather. Blackheath Tea Hut is one of those gathering points for us before we set off for a ride into the, careful how you say it, Kent countryside.

      What a coincidence!🇫🇷🇬🇧
Luckily the windows in the flat stop 95% of all sound, but I did forget about the constant sound of sirens!
The Blackheath Tea Hut- I must visit here👌🏻

@@FreddieDobbs I'm not certain it's worth a special trip, and definitely wouldn't fill a whole RUclips video, it is literally just a hut serving tea and greasy burgers, that you stand outside. I'd say it's more a place to meet up with someone on a nice day who's ridden from a different part of town before heading wherever it is you're both heading.
It's a bit like the 13 remaining Cabbies Shelters dotted across London (now that is a video), but without the variety of food and quirky history.

I don’t think the famous tea hut is there anymore Freddie if I remember rightly it was demolished a few years back when a car or lorry smashed into it? It was a meeting point for bikers & came in handy early hours for a burger & a tea! Welcome ack to London Oh & good call you didn’t choose Thamesmead!

The cost of bike insurance can be a problem in London if you have to leave it outside . A decent bike cover would help maybe but then you would have to take it back to the flat every time you go out which would be a pain

I forgot why I even started watching you 2. This episode is heart warming because I loved London as a kid. Sorry to see by the law of probability you witnessed shoplifting on the first day. I'm still dealing with the probate in Ipswich. Have missed a lot of your videos but life events ( I turned 73 yesterday the 11th) have overwhelmed us lately. Yes I feel guilty not being true to the Feddie/Monika Show but will try to watch more often as troubles iron out. Yes you haven't lost y'alls appeal.🎸

Freddie, been watching every video you post for a couple of years now, I'm always inspired by your travels which led me to get my own triumph and go on few trips. Now you've moved closer to kent it might be worth going to Aylesford Wharf, Forstal Rd ME20 7XA. There is a big Harvey davison showroom with cafe etc and its right next door to a new triumph show room too , great to compare side by side. Keep doing what you do. Also have you ever thought of using some of Monkias photos of the bike scenes to produce a 2024 calendar, youve got a captive audience who love bikes and your journeys ..

Oh yes, that Red Chesterfield... very 'in ya face', but somehow I like it, and all those amenities just outside your door..., just need some better weather now to cheer up the general outside view. Welcome back dann souf mate!

Hi Freddie - agree with your comments re old bikes. I’ve an old Honda VFR 750, which I bought new in 1995. Though I’ve also a new bike (T120 Bonnie actually!) I’ll never sell the Veefer - it’s still reliable and I’d be happy to ride it anywhere as I know every inch of it. Blackheath looked nice - I used to travel trough when I lived down south, but never stopped to sound the place out. Enjoy your videos. Look after yourself and ride safe.
