Also i apologize if you already have made this video, but I would love to see a stream deck tutorial. I have a pretty good understanding of it but im sure you have some cool tricks that I would love to learn :)
One important thing to also account for is the background you're working with. A 90-degree field of view is great if you have a whole room at your back. For those who have a wall and/or use a green screen, however, it won't do much. In these cases, when just starting out just pick up a C920 and then starting saving up towards a Brio or better yet a mirrorless camera/CamLink combo.
I just use my cellphone with DroidCamX, connects with a usb cable. Looks comparable to these, been working really well so far and only $5 (there's a free version too).
I just tried that and it's not a bad idea! If there was an app that lets me take full advantage of the OnePlus 7 Pro's camera, especially with it's ultrawide lens, I'd be all in.

Best way to make your webcams look great: go into camera control tab and turn off low-light compensation, turn color space to 709 and color range to FULL, and THEN go in and adjust your sharpness, contrast etc. My c920 looks amazing and I made a video about how to do it.
might want to monitor your network traffic when using those Chinese webcams. also - C922 is a thing, and they had that weird enterprise one but it's not very good
"He who buys cheap, buys twice." Very often that's true. And btw it's better to support the production of more durable things in general. Just my 2 cents :)
We use 3 C390e cams in our radio studio. They’re great. We also have 1 old C920. The C920 has been dropped, tossed, stepped on, and just keeps working. We’ve only had the C390e cams for about two months. Hopefully they’ll be just as durable.
9:00 the Brio lens is using a rectilinear correction (all perspective lines are straight, such as walls and doors) whereas the Cheapo lens is curvilinear (barrel distortion as you move further to the edges).
As someone using the c920, this video has given some much-needed insight into webcams. Thanks Harris for the honest review. Just in case anyone was wondering, yes. His forehead is just as smooth on stream as it is in this video.
I might be completely off since you were going back and forth between several cameras in the the video. But I think the 4th webcam link in your video description is labeled as "cheapo #2". I think it was meant to refer to "Cheapo #3"?
Not sure if it's even possible but what about using an old smartphone rather than a webcam? I have an old Note 9 just sitting in a drawer that has a much better camera than my webcam. Just not sure if it's a viable option.
i use a Vitade 960A USB camera i got off Amazon, only $50 crisp 1080p 30fps out of the box but with some corrections you can get it up to 60 fps and still have it look great. Even comes with a built in ring light which helps give great facial lighting for streams. Very great camera i'd highly recommend it.
Because the cameras are in different positions relative to the speaker, the angular comparisons are difficult to judge. However, it looks as if the angles are closer than excited man seems to appreciate. Also, COLOR TEMP ADJUSTMENTS would be easier to accomplish and demonstrate if excited man included a standard color chart. If this was a HIGH SCHOOL Science Project, no A's in sight!
I would like to thank you, since I started watching your videos I was able to up my quality and also motivation plus I watch them to see what I can do to make my streams better and what mistakes I am making.
honestly, I would definitely go with any of the cheap cameras. Logitech doesn't allow to save your settings and it is so frustrating to be adjusting the camera every time you gonna stream
I would try: Walfront vs Aoozi, they are highly rated with good overall quality, this would be good to see which compares better in audio or video etc. Buying random cheap knock offs we know won't do well.... BUT! getting some cheap knockoffs that rated well, and have some videos uploaded from "battle camera" youtuber and other youtubers will go a long way in justifying the purchase, since there was a marketing budget.
Question following your tests: -> Did you lose the camera settings after you restarted OBS / Streamlabs? Did the camera revert back to default settings after you reboot your system? I'm having that kind of issue with a Logitech C170 and I'm wondering if it's software / brand related. I'm running Streamlabs in Admin mode. Thanks for this awesome video btw, really helpful!
the distortion at the edge of cheapo one isn't due to software processing. It ocular distortion from a cheap lens. The brio appears to have a lens that was engineered to reduce that.
I think something better is bound to come along really soon. It was for a long time impossible to get a decent low-cost chipset that would be capable enough to be a webcam processor and would have some flexibility, so there were a few dedicated solutions by a handful companies and they've gotten really stale. Now i can imagine the recently(-ish) released Allwinner V3s serving the duty paired with any semi reasonable phone camera, for a maybe sub $60 price point... well at least USB2, not USB3, which the latter would be slowly par for the course, but there again, we have to wait for the more open market friendly semiconductor companies to catch up :(
Yeah it’s the lenses they using. They might not be flat out lying because different sensor format sizes result in different FOv when paired with different lens focal lengths. Unfortunately there’s no way to make a standard. They SHOULD say 35mm equivalent 90 degree FOV (which is pricey. That would be a 14mm wide angle lens)
Hey Harris! I was wondering if you have heard anything about/ tried the Logitech c930e, it has a 90 degree viewing angle, and shoots in 1080p at 30fps, and at the time of writing this, it is around $71 US, only $10 more than the c920. I looked at a few different comparisons and the image quality looked pretty similar, the c930e was just wider, not sure if there is some reason no one talks about this webcam, or maybe people don't know about it, what are your thoughts?
Konftel Cam20 seems to be a step up from the Logitec webcams. Does cost a bit more but could be worth it if you need a USB only webcam and not the DSLR stuff.
i bought the $42 webcam, and am promptly returning it. Towards the outside of the frame the image begins to separate into a sort of "double vision" type of quality, think of the VHS out of sync color channels effect, except it's not different channels so it just looks like crap.
Harris if you do this again, stick some text labels on each of the camera scenes with the camera information in, to save poor Sam having to do it in post :')
I actually got a Kiyo for myself this christmas, because my setup is so frickin' dark. The ring light makes such a difference, and I'm pretty happy overall, but I will admit idk if its the best value purchase I've made haha
I use alot of Logitech software and it's all linked through 'Logitech GHUB'which allows you to change everything about the BRIO. If you know what you're doing you can have a 1080p60 90fov webcam is in a league of it's own. Legit the best webcam on the market.
I actually used a chinese knockoff for 4 months (that glitched out a couple of times a week) until I could upgrade to a mirrorless this week. It made my pink walls look an ugly grey and made my face look bleached white. Basically Cheapo Webcam 02 colors. I didn't realize just how bad it was until I saw myself in a proper camera. It WAS 90 degrees though.
hey harris i get a lot of this type of stuff for free for review (cheapo cam #1 is in my previous orders) and "90 degree" is just something they put in the header, the sellers don't even know what it means. same thing with the "action cam" gopro ripoffs. they say 4k, and technically the video resolution is 4k, but its very clearly just 720p but made larger. i will admit i tried the 4k model of cheapo #1 and it's actually notably clearer. it's not as noticeable with a small window in front of a game capture, but when you do a full screen cam scene you can absolutely tell.
also if you want a much wider angle for webcams, jump on amazon and get a cheap iphone wide angle adapter. before i started using my mirrorless to stream i was using the c930e with a wide angle adapter. if youre at all interested i can link you to my little comparison
In my experience, a Logitech Brio gets destroyed if I just use an old iPhone (In my case, I used an old iphone 6s plus from 2014 which actually does 4k) as a webcam using the iOS Camera Plugin for OBS Studio. All I need to buy is the OBS app from the iOS Store for like $9 and a $10 monitor mount.
Could you see yourself picking up any of the Chinese knockoffs?

Also i apologize if you already have made this video, but I would love to see a stream deck tutorial. I have a pretty good understanding of it but im sure you have some cool tricks that I would love to learn :)
Harris watching your RUclips and twitch videos makes my channel look like trash. LMAO. Keep up the good work bro!
Great video man. Hilarious actually. Thanks!!! This was great.
I'm surprised he didn't make the camera comparison with blue yeti... Like that mic is 10 YEARS OLD, and is still $100+ yikes
Would you like a free 60fps webcam?
#1 has a fisheye effect, it looks like, just to kinda-sorta-barely qualify as 90 degree field of vision.. so you'd look bigger in the center.
“Why don’t we get rid of that one that’s like 60°” 😂😂
Would you like a free 60fps webcam?
Such a helpful video! Thanks a ton man! I can't wait to share this with my friends!
I just use my cellphone with DroidCamX, connects with a usb cable. Looks comparable to these, been working really well so far and only $5 (there's a free version too).
I just tried that and it's not a bad idea! If there was an app that lets me take full advantage of the OnePlus 7 Pro's camera, especially with it's ultrawide lens, I'd be all in.
i tried to do the usb connection with droidcam and it didnt work at all plus the usb port on my pc doesnt keep my phone charged long enough for a stream
@@tyisafk You can select which camera with DroidCamX!
@@theamazingmarti812 What happened? I think the most common issue I see is that people forget to turn on usb debugging on their phone...err I did that too haha. My phone used to discharge too, but I just bought a new cable from Amazon and now it stays at 100% thankfully.
Best way to make your webcams look great: go into camera control tab and turn off low-light compensation, turn color space to 709 and color range to FULL, and THEN go in and adjust your sharpness, contrast etc. My c920 looks amazing and I made a video about how to do it.
Most webcams have a permanently attached cable. Not those ones!
9:12 You can totally see the Cheapo #2's distortion on the wall and door to our right (Harris' left) 🤣 That wall be crooked as hell
My gawd, Sam really earned his pay on this one.. Switching between all the cams and tagging them lol
LMAO the beginning I was like "Well don't let it focus, I know logitec has their brand name on it" and then it focused XD
might want to monitor your network traffic when using those Chinese webcams. also - C922 is a thing, and they had that weird enterprise one but it's not very good
These Chinese cameras come with no software or drivers, there is no traffic to monitor. They're stock UVC devices and work with standard class driver.
@@SianaGearz That’s what China wants you to believe.
I was just thinking the same about Webcam progress when I found your video. 100% agree.
"He who buys cheap, buys twice." Very often that's true. And btw it's better to support the production of more durable things in general. Just my 2 cents :)
I do not want to use the word embarrassing
10 seconds later:i am gonna use the word embarrassing

Most of the products are made in China I won’t be surprised to know that 90% of your gear is made in China. 🤟🏼
We use 3 C390e cams in our radio studio. They’re great. We also have 1 old C920. The C920 has been dropped, tossed, stepped on, and just keeps working. We’ve only had the C390e cams for about two months. Hopefully they’ll be just as durable.
I’m watching this on my iPhone 5
hahaha 5s here!
Go buy a Samsung
@@MrSoundwave Samsung here
Also samsung here
@@moymelgar iPhone 5S here too!
i love how honest all your reviews are, thanks for all the good info!
Let me complicate this by getting a c920 for $30...
9:00 the Brio lens is using a rectilinear correction (all perspective lines are straight, such as walls and doors) whereas the Cheapo lens is curvilinear (barrel distortion as you move further to the edges).
Just the other day, I searched at AliBaba etc. for cheap webcams, unbelievable huge variety. So great review, thanks !
This is how reviews should be. Very informative!
Super useful; and you are correct; looking for a webcam right now in 2020; and it's the same selection as 2014... Thanks for the vid.
i use a Vitade 960A USB camera i got off Amazon, only $50 crisp 1080p 30fps out of the box but with some corrections you can get it up to 60 fps and still have it look great. Even comes with a built in ring light which helps give great facial lighting for streams. Very great camera i'd highly recommend it.
Using my phone as my webcam right now, it works very well. Just miss being able to use it fully while I'm inbetween games
I got some Brio knock off I think it's called an E-Meet or something but it's pretty decent for its price.
Very informative video! What would you recommend for someone looking today? I've heard most have sold out and the Brio is going for $300 and up.
I was looking for the logitech c920 on amazon and people are asking 190$ for it! 8 years old webcam!! Covid 19 is f***ing with our pockets.
Where is cheapo #3's web url. It stops at Cheapo #2.
OMG!! Homelander's reviewing webcams?! What a time to be alive!
the distortion at the edge of cheapo one isn't due to software processing. It ocular distortion from a cheap lens. The brio appears to have a lens that was engineered to reduce that.
when he looked at the $27.99 camera 📸 & said "I'm leaving a bad review" 😂😭🤣
I think something better is bound to come along really soon. It was for a long time impossible to get a decent low-cost chipset that would be capable enough to be a webcam processor and would have some flexibility, so there were a few dedicated solutions by a handful companies and they've gotten really stale. Now i can imagine the recently(-ish) released Allwinner V3s serving the duty paired with any semi reasonable phone camera, for a maybe sub $60 price point... well at least USB2, not USB3, which the latter would be slowly par for the course, but there again, we have to wait for the more open market friendly semiconductor companies to catch up :(
Great video as always Harris. I would love to see some kinds of upgrades done in the webcam department this year! Fingers crossed.
I would've liked to see how it handles green screen keying. Usually the cheaper cams can't handle OBS keying out G/B screen
Valid point here
Great video, c270 is always a great super cheap pickup for people that do not want to stir away from branded web cams.
Been looking for a 60 degree viewing angle camera for video conferencing. The $27 cam is perfect.
You mentioned that Cheap camera #3 is pretty good, but you did not leave a link for it. Would you please leave a link for Cheap #3. Thanks
waiting for someone to post a link too
it's as cheapo #2 in the description, he made a mistake
Awesome thanks for the video.
Just wondering though which ones have auto focus or does this not matter?
been waiting for this! THANK YOU!!!
Ive had a c615 and c920 for like 5 years bought them used at pawn shops for under $20. How are they do expensive now?
Funny you mention iPhone, honestly because I am using old iPhones as my webcams. 😂
