Keaton is Batman. The eyes, his own voice, just his presence and the way he's shot by Burton will never be beaten. Bale looks good as Batman but as soon as he talks........game over.
I really liked Nolan's Batman, but damn, Keaton had a style all his own. At 2:50, that look said it all: Don't think you're getting away with this, cause you're not.
I've always found that sort of smirk that Batman gives to Napier to be unsettling to me in some way. Like, scary or something. I can't really put it into words.
Nickhead87 lol that's exactly what he thought he know napier was a common mob thug who would cross the line with him and knows jack wants no part of him that's why jack uses a gun and not his own fists
This Batman suit is by far the best. I mean the Dark Knight one is technically the most functional but this is the look of Batman. All black with the yellow crest and belt. I feel like Disney could create an incredible Batman and bring to life something similar to Burton's creation of the superhero. Man I so wish D.C. would sell the movie rights to Disney and we can put all of this Zack Snyder business behind us.
When I was little and watched this I thought the guy at :45 was fish hooked by Batman. I thought to myself, "DAMN! That's gotta hurt!" But now I see he is hanging by his coat...ah man!
Think about this - If Batman didn't go to the chemical factory, Napier would of most likely been captured by the police, wouldn't of fell into the vat, wouldn't of became The Joker and all the people who died as a result of the City Hall shooting, the poisoned hygiene products, the museum attack, and at the parade would of lived. Meaning Bruce Wayne's mission to avenge his parents murder actually resulted in the murders of hundres of other innocent people. The whole movie was about Batman trying to stop a villian that he himself created by playing policeman.
Napier still had connections in the police force and would've made bond or escaped. he would've still went and killed grissam and and the other gangsters as revenge for being set up. yes he wouldn't have done it as the joker per se, but he was still sociopathic killer. he killed eckhart right in front of everyone including the police commissioner. you think he would just go to jail and just say well it's all over now? I'm geussing no. interesting viewpoint though. :)
And if Bob managed to escape, Jack probably could have too if he made it to the exit. Even if an officer caught Jack on the catwalk, Bob being the ninja that he is, could have still held Gordon at gunpoint.
As much as I love Burton and Nolan's work, what is with the main villain's henchmen and not being able to use guns properly, lol. In Burton's series they can't aim at all and Nolan's series they run at people with them like their swords and never fire them.
+TheGame2k2s I was watching DKR and wondering the same thing. That big fight between the cops and Bane's army. Cops have zero weapons. The bad guys have machine guns. The next thing you see is all of them fighting hand to hand combat, some of the bad guys have their AK-47s on their back. It was ridiculous.
What happened to Jack Napier's face that the bullet ricochet it bulletproof by Batman? Why did Jack Napier screaming like a mock man? Batman try to pull Napier up safely, he was slipping in his gloves. He was slipping in the vat of green Chemicals at the Axis Chemicals. Jack Napier was killed. It was an accident.
hmmm...so I'm watching GOTHAM and definitely it's a Commish Gordon show... In here we see Gordon and Bullock as big...uhh... you know what I mean... hehehe. 😁
The cops can't see him use the grappling hook through the smoke, so to them it looks like he's flying at 4:19, i think thats why he used the smoke to make himself appear supernatural/unhuman
No, he just literally couldn't turn his head in that thick latex cowl. Batman cowls are like wearing neck braces, It's why they did the suit re-design for TKD. The actors and production where tired of the limited movement, so they wrote it into the story.
DeepEye1994 I love Oldman's Gordon portrayal, but I really like Hingle's as well. For the 1st few movies, they went with the Commisioner from the EARLY comics & 60's tv show...less character development...ALTHOUGH, there was a bigger realization planned for the relationship btwn Bruce & Jim for this film...it was unfortunately cut for time
he did that so the cops approaching him couldn't see where he was going. the commissioner and the cop next to him had a better line of sight of batman. their viewpoint was the one we were looking through as batman ascended upwards. plus I would imagine that it would help from keeping the officers from getting a clear shot on him, should they choose to open fire. And he's Batman. He has to say "I'm out" in style. Theatrics are a big part of his allure.
Therazorsedge999 also, so there was a bit of a "mysterious" circumstance to his exit...sort of a "Did he fly?" "Is he human?" angle...exactly what this Batman is going for
Keaton is Batman. The eyes, his own voice, just his presence and the way he's shot by Burton will never be beaten. Bale looks good as Batman but as soon as he talks........game over.
Perfectly said!

I have a whole new level of appreciation for Burton, Keaton and Elfman's Batman after watching Nolan's films.
This is a perfect noir film about BATMAN. Based on the early comics of the 30's where batman kills.
Even without his neck being able to move he's still better than any other live action Batman
Heck Yeah That's your opinion. Not fact.
Love that bit at 1:49, where you can see Batman is right behind Jack without him even knowning.
Love burtons neo noir creative style, cant imagine a batman universe without it.

0:42 probably one of the best shots of Batman you will ever get in a live action film
2:31 "Jesus!" I can't help but laugh at that part. XD
Still the best Batman movie
8 Christopher Nolan Fanboys didn't think about the future!!!!!!
Batman1989King more like, they didn't think about the past
Damn Keaton was great as Batman
Yeah, he was a very graceful Batman.
Michael Keaton to me will always be Batman!!
Daytripper N7 i

Love the exit Batman makes at the end ..Great directing
"Nice outfit" That smirk on his face. It was always cool for some reason.
It still is to this day!!!
8 Christopher Nolan Fanboys fell into the vat of chemicals!!!!!!!
That music !!!
+Magemo7
The music is fantastic.
One of my all time favourite batman portrayals, btw who's watching in 2016 and hyped for Afflecks film in the future?
Z-REX I am!! Super Hyped! But as of right until the movie is released this is my favorite portrayal of Batman.
When I was little and watched this I thought the guy at :45 was fish hooked by Batman. I thought to myself, "DAMN! That's gotta hurt!" But now I see he is hanging by his coat...ah man!
Best movie of the 80s 25 years later it doesn't top Chris Nolan's films but it's the best film for the comic book look
I think this is far better than Nolan films.
2:49 : Creepy smile. Batman's clearly demented.
You got destroyed and you know it. Now you just a chicken with your head cut off. Waa, bitch. Stop liking ya own shit.
Best Batman scene! Best Batman movie.
Tim Burton is a good director. He has a more gothic approach to creating this film like the comic book.

Well thought, but as we all know DC universe is not the real world

The music from :59 to 1:06 is magnificent

4:19 Good question, Michael J. Fox!

True, but the illusion of action is lot of gunfire. Can't have lots of gunfire if everyone is dying after just a few rounds.
0:31 - Stormtrooper training.
3:15
What's with the "Duuuh" expression on his face?
I know, it cracks me up and then... BAM! Instant retirement.
Better than dark knight
Bad-ass.
0:46 Batman Shot First!!!!!!!
WHOA WHOA WHOA We meet again! Hello there!
"Eckhart....think about the future!!" (Shoots Harvey Dent)
+JSS Tyger You don't want to hurt the boy, Aaron!
Affleck Batman will blow the fuck up on all this dudes lol
+Jhon Alex damn right!
Why did Batman bother letting off the smoke bomb at the end when he could be clearly seen by everyone anyway?
+Therazorsedge999
He's too heavy. Has to lose some weight.
I always thought seen this scene that Batman had left Napier fall on porpouse, anyone thought the same?
hmmm...so I'm watching GOTHAM and definitely it's a Commish Gordon show...
In here we see Gordon and Bullock as big...uhh... you know what I mean... hehehe. 😁
I think ace chemicals is a better name than axis chemicals
You can tell by the look in Batmans eyes he let go of Napier on purpose. Even before he new later he was the guy who killed his parents lol
Couldn't he have flew upwards to escape without the smoke bomb?
The cops can't see him use the grappling hook through the smoke, so to them it looks like he's flying at 4:19, i think thats why he used the smoke to make himself appear supernatural/unhuman
Plus, harder to land a well aimed shot. tough I agree with your point totally.
+rakim day Makes sense
l'usine a servi de décor pour alien 2
lol he couldn't turn his head
That was intentional as it made batman move differently than everyone else
No, he just literally couldn't turn his head in that thick latex cowl. Batman cowls are like wearing neck braces, It's why they did the suit re-design for TKD. The actors and production where tired of the limited movement, so they wrote it into the story.
3:34 no blood
0:40
3:45 his bloody cheeks look gross
They were basing this Gordon from the Adam West Tv show....
Batman kills?
This film is based off the early comics from the late 30s and early 40s where Batman killed
Rapper videos but he didnt kill anyone in this scene I dont think
Yeah, even though this is my favorite Batman movie, I gotta say that Gordon sucks ass, Gary Oldman nailed the character on the other hand!
DeepEye1994 I love Oldman's Gordon portrayal, but I really like Hingle's as well. For the 1st few movies, they went with the Commisioner from the EARLY comics & 60's tv show...less character development...ALTHOUGH, there was a bigger realization planned for the relationship btwn Bruce & Jim for this film...it was unfortunately cut for time
Cringe.
Why did Batman bother letting off the smoke bomb at the end when he could be clearly seen by everyone anyway?
Because he's Batman.
