  • Bomb Vs Method Feeder | Which is better ?
    I thought I would have a little bit of a change in this video, mix it up and try a technique I don't use anywhere near as often as I should and that's the bomb (of at least my version of it using a small inline lead).
    As you will see in the video it can be fished the exact same as a method feeder using the same hook-length's and everything, its ideally suited to the margin or with pea bags you could even use single hook baits in winter.

    I’ve enjoyed every video you have made , but this has to be my favourite, fishing the tip with bomb , you can’t beat it , I love the method but believe the bomb would out fish method feeder every day of the week with the right baiting strategy, only thing I would have done differently would have been longer hooklink on bomb because of silt , brilliant video, that good I’m going to watch it again 😂😂, really enjoyed this 🎣🎣🎣

      You know what Chris, that’s great advice! That’s probably why the cage feeder with a 30cm hooklength works great there 🤔 I will have to test that theory ! 🎣🎣

    hi i fished high heyes on wed 18th sep only managed 3 skimmers 2 roach very patchy spoke to an old boy fishing opposite me he said the owner told him they have lost a lot of barbel have you heard this

      The people on my community group fish high heyes often and it’s still fishing well. You must have caught it on an off day. He looses barbel in matches in hot weather mostly. There are still some in but you need to know where they like to hide.

    The Square bombs can be flattened out with a hammer - Remove all the tubing & stick a round Nail that fits nicely through it first, so you don't close the hole up then put the tubing back in !!

    Awesome video …. Reminded me to try this technique during my mid July tour of Lancashire and Yorkshire fisheries. Always good to break out the routine of method feeder for a while. Also intend waggler mid water and over depth on the bottom.
    Once again entertaining, informative, and inspirational footage. Well done

    Tried them several times last summer, didn't get a single bite on them, never mind a fish.
    Caught plenty Carp on the essential cell, though.

    Watched a few of your vids now and really enjoyed them especially this one, but i do wonder was it more the margin was better than the other swim more than bomb v method? Anyways two things came of watching first you got a new sub and second I'm buying some mainline cell wafters for my trip to Redhill on the weekend. 🎣👍

    Hi Matt, great film as always 👍 love my bomb 💣 fishing, I really think it comes into its own on waters that have took a hamering on the method. As mentioned before, on silty waters a 15" hooklengh would be much better to stop your bait sinking into the silt. Have played around with longer but the fish know how to get rid of the hook most of the time 🤦 you need to try it with 8mm pellets and ping pellets over the top regularly 😀 that will get your tip moving 😀 great to see Papa West again, thought you'd banned him after Partridge 🤣

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Год назад +1

      Haha he is banned again now after this session. Can’t be having him showing me up 😅😂 I will definitely try the method with a longer hooklength 🎣 great advice, I don’t use pellets as much as I should ! I never seem to do well on them 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • @tomhill9934
    @tomhill9934 Год назад +1

    I like to make up little PVA mesh balls of pellets for bomb, so it's more accurate with the feed. Also try moulding paste around the bait, the match lads call it a conker, can be very effective because not many do it and its something a bit different.

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Год назад +2

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Год назад

      There isn’t much of a difference at all, other than the bomb is a little more subtle and is conventionally fished with a longer hooklength !

      He is fine with it as long as you aren’t putting 2 kg out 😂 a hand full is alright ! The main reason coarse fisheries don’t allow them is people put so much bait out it doesn’t get eaten! Ends up being a pollutant. But those 10mm even the bream and tench will eat 👌🏻

    Hi Matt, another excellent video using two of my favourite styles of fishing, although I tend to use a PVA bag or mesh rather than loose feed when using the bomb. I also use a longer hook length to ensure the bait is on top of any silt.
    Once again another cracking, informative and entertaining video, keep up the good work.
    Looking forward to the next one.

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Год назад

      Thanks Chris ! I agree about the hooklength, I wanted to show that it’s an interchangeable method more than anything 🎣

    • @chrishanford1354
      @chrishanford1354 Год назад

      @@WestysAngling Hi Matt, you are right it is definitely an interchangeable method and if the lake bed wasn’t silty then the shorter hook length would be fine, you just have to adapt it to the conditions.
      Thanks for taking the time and effort to produce these excellent videos.

  • @martinbrooks2464
    @martinbrooks2464 9 месяцев назад

    I agree with the previous comments by @chrisdevine2507 : However, the longer hook link is required to allow the bait to enter the carps mouth to allow the hook to grab. Using the shorter hook link prevents this. If you watch the Guru underwater videos you will see that a fish can take a bait and reject it without any visual signs on the rod tip. Hook links of 4" to 6" are optimum.
