    It's the end, For Goodness' Sake! What a spectacular story and ride. Two Quick Notes - First, my main playthrough is through (51:57) After that is all the other endings! Second, I included a nice video I found of all the dates! It's in the description.
    I'm going to make a short WashuTalks video on this to wrap it up since its just a huge one (instead of the normal closing commentary) It will be different than the Theory video, should that still be in the cards (this game answered a lot of the questions!)

    OH MY GOD this game is the most painful and most heartfelt game I've played in a long, long time (maybe ever). I placed all the bad stuff together for maximum suffering and enjoyment when the good ends come around. You can tell in some of the Bad Endings i was getting a bit emotional. I tried to narrate best I could! The Freya bad ending almost had me shaking it was so rough.
    DID YOU NOTICE that in Freya's Grape Jewel ending- those are some familiar looking dresses in the window(2:45:15)? They are Fleta, Harpae and Lisette's outfits!
    The Pocket Mirror being a gift from Lebkuchen was unexpected! I figured it was going to be HINTED at not literally/straight up gifted to Elise. This is so mysterious!

      I have a couple of questions. Do you still ship Goldia with the Pumpkin King? You mentioned so in a reply to a comment on a video of the bonus room in the 2016 version of Pocket Mirror. This is probably a silly question but were you talking about the scarecrow Pumpkin King or the Strange Boy/Ozzy himself?

    though the bad endings are truly tragic, all things considered, elise really did have both wits and guts. she was absolutely not terrified of speaking back to actual demons, and when ozzy demanded a price, her firstborn child, her first instinct was to go "is that negotiable", eventually trying to trick him into getting more chances.
    can't say i am very fond of her being spawned from the witch from a demon's deal though. always thought it would be more interesting if she was just a perfectly regular girl. but i guess it does help to add to the lore.

    • @BakaWashu
      @BakaWashu  11 месяцев назад +26

      I agree about the guts point, but as for her wits she was so absolutely tunnel visioned on whatever her interpretation was. The Good Company couldn't POSSIBLY be my girlfriend? The only way I escape is with gold/riches (contrasted with all of her good endings) So its more like she couldn't bring herself to think through the alternatives. still really smart, theres lots of people who are smart and closed minded, but it hurt her here a lot. she could solve the puzzles sure, but so could all the other girls
      I think it would have also been interesting to see an Elise where she gets more desperate and does actually sacrifice her girlfriends (straight up- like not wishing for a better life for them both) or that she was going to have to actually steal stuff from the Village or hurt people. they decided to make her likeable by making her an understandable and good person. I think she could have been interesting as a hateable character too. you're still going to root for Elise because she's so determined- it could have been a play on words that shes absolutely NOT a good two shoes. her character now comes across as a Sassy girl with a bad mouth (even to demons) who knows how to hustle. she's tunnelvisioned and stubborn but very loving to her friends. really, she doesn't put herself first very often- which I was thinking we were going to see a lot of.
      I think being born from Walpurga is an interesting idea and a way to insert narratives around Christ (the Unicorn Tapestry, the apple bite, demons etc.) but the story would have been equally interesting with her being a normal girl (like all the other golden maidens) who just becomes twisted in fate

      @@BakaWashu that's a good point, and i like that you've taken your time to reply to what i said. i will admit she was very, very single minded. though i do find it odd that, even if she is warned of what was to come, she still remains shocked at the fact that her lover dies. though there are a lot of other things in this game that confuse me, a lot of ways i don't exactly know what message it is trying to send.

She'd just outwit him and she and her beloved would both be fine, living their dream. You know, so she thought

    So, Rozenmarine's bad ending where Elise sacrificed her to the strangr boy is the true canon ending that leads to the events of Pocket Mirror? It also established that Rozenmarine is Elise's canon and official love interest, at least in the continuity where Pocket Mirror takes place. That about right?
    Sucks that Rozenmarine accepted her fate of being killed by the Strange Boy after Elise sacrificed her to him. As we saw, that haunted Elise for the rest of her life.

    I'm happy I got the Grape Jewel ending with Freya (after getting Elise possessed by a witch once and burned at the stake in other alternate timelines), I love how her dad already acts like he's Elise's father-in-law and we actually leave Kieferberg behind for good and make a new home in the city together and Freya becomes our successful fashion designer sugar momma so it's the only one where Elise actually gets her dream. It's really cool how Lebkuchen's ending has Elise becoming the mayor and turning Kieferberg into a thriving town again and I really like their relationship with how they've had an unbreakable bond from the start of the game. Rosenmarine's, is kind of underwhelming how she just peaces out to sow her wild oats for 3 years while Elise just waits and does nothing and then they get to be broke and settle for a modest life in a town that's seen better days, together I guess. Moral of the story, don't even bother engaging with demons, they actually just suck, and also don't go in the suspicious priest's creepy basement, this isn't Scooby Doo, doing dumb risky nonsense will get you killed. Just get a girlfriend and don't have kids.

      They are beautiful ends! Each of the endings shows Elise learning what the character has to offer her - Freya is in loving and selflessness (note how Elise talks in that ending), Leb's is in taking responsibility and being part of something real and down to earth(Again Elise's dialogue), and with Rozenmarine its the realization that meaning transcends material things, the idea that meaning and value is what one decides and feels. In Rozenmarine's good end, I think it was perfectly in character - her fate needed a bit of time to re-entwine with Elise's for good (after all, her actual fate was to die) but i mean it does read kind of sudden like "im taking your cute apron (like a thief) bye" Although, in Freya's End, Elise gets to experience Freya's richness and success (and fancy dresses), And in Leb's end, Elise doesn't 'escape' Kieferberg or working really hard. I think its subtle that Rozenmarine's good end is supposed to be Elise not having either parts of her wish granted / instead she doesn't need to wish for anything anymore

    • @ASHERUISE
      @ASHERUISE 11 месяцев назад +13

      @@BakaWashu Rozenmarine's ending is beautiful in the way that I think you're supposed to read it as "everything I needed was here all along" but it doesn't offer the escapism, for me, of Elise and Freya living comfortably in a bustling city thanks to Freya's incredible dressmaking talents being recognized by all, or Elise and Lebkuchen travelling the world before realizing that "yes, Kieferberg is my home, and I'm gonna make it the best dang town it can be because I've become super competent and girlboss from all my worldly experience." Rozenmarine's ending has Rozenmarine finding purpose besides being a pawn for Elise (but coming back because they truly love each other) while Elise just kind of comes to terms with her situation like "yes, this is fine, my life isn't so bad and things could be a lot worse" which is realistic but yeah, very subtle. Neutral end as opposed to bad end.

      @@BakaWashu u know what, the more I think about it Rozenmarine kind of trapped Elise in Kieferberg saying "I'll come back for you, you're the only gal for me" and then left for 3 years, when in reality she was probably hitting on every pretty, naive little country girl she met, breaking into their houses, crashing in their attics, saying "it's fate, we were destined to be together," charming them with her cute little goat, and then stealing their aprons when she got bored of them, the absolute tramp. My favorite has to be Freya's good end, since they both managed to accomplish their dreams without need for devious contracts, although I definitely see the meaning in the others: that Elise didn't need to leave her village and pursue a great future in order to be happy, but I still like the ending where she got to pursue her dreams anyway lol.
    I do wish we could've followed an alternate route entirely that led to Pocket Mirror's Little Goody Two Shoes ending, if just to know how that would've turned out, but ig it would've been quite boring since that end suggests Elise didn't make a deal with Ozzy at all (also, the red shoes appearing in that end may suggest Ozzy is trying to target them in the future?? I had always wondered how those shoes got there, but now knowing why Elise's got hers...)

    In the ending where Goldia is reborn in a timeline where Elise didn't make a deal, does that mean she married Roman? LGTS makes clear he was bewitched and she doesn't love him, but this gives more answers than questions...

      @BakaWashu  11 месяцев назад +27

      So my theory on the Little Goody Two Shoes ending for Pocket mirror (and Dawn, but more to talk about that later / both still researching/subject to change!) Is that Ozzy failed to collect his payment. He was, legitimately, defeated. He had to collect Elise's secondborn CHILD, and Goldia was kept asleep for so long she became an adult. (different than the Dawn ending where Goldia has to keep the pocket mirror close for the rest of her life - but in that ending Goldia doesn't rescue/take Enjel. In the dawn ending, Enjel gets the pocket mirror before Goldia and shatters. Maybe it was more of a personal loss to Ozzy that Goldia escaped payment AND saved Enjel).
      Ozzy invested in it heavily - he made Enjel, he meddled with her soul, but he still lost. That was humiliating / unacceptable to a demon lord. One of his servants, Golden Maiden Elise, had beaten him? Instead of accepting it, he reverts back to before Elise ever put on the shoes to try again for his payment. We already see some timewarping with the picture of Goldia in the picture of the first Witching hour(which is a huge piece of lore). But he can't just unmake/kill Goldia- so she is returned there too (Henri is cooperating with him under different circumstances). Those are literally Elise's shoes - they have the ribbon and the emerald clasps. The ending slate shows Goldia wearing her mother's shoes and the book dripping blood - on a background of the same Tapestry as in LGTS. She's wearing an apple embroidered dress, so it implies she's in Kieferberg the same time as with Freya (who made the dresses). So yeah, not a good sign. But there's a few things in the image that make me think its a foreshadowing of what COULD happen, not what did.
      Also Roman turned out to be a very unimportant character lol I mean I was kind of envisioning a whole "Oh I'm in love with Roman now!", but I mean she just straight up doesn't even love him. He was put back too- he's still the count, but Elise isn't with him.

    • @Suika182
      @Suika182 11 месяцев назад +21

      @@BakaWashu wonder why Goldia made the wish in the LGTS ending in PM then. Then again, sucks being Goldia. She's either taken by the Strange Boy (Freya and Leb bad ends, Witching Hour), makes a deal in an alt timeline or wakes up in an insane asylum, with her parents dead, brother gone and holding to the pocket mirror as a charm protecting her from the Strange Boy forever! The happiest outcome is the one where Elise gets together with one of the girls, Goldia isn't born, but she isn't suffering either!
      And yeah, I remember AstralShiftPro said Roman was gonna appear in LGTS, but we only see his face in the bad ends, showing how unimportant he was to the whole thing. Poor guy is basically a plot device. The reveal of him being bewitched is a huge plot twist tho.

    I first watched Pocket Mirror gameplay in 2018, and then saw the LGTS ending. When AstralShift announced that there would be a prequel about Elise, I always wondered how they’d go about it since we all know how PM starts and ends (it’s just a sad story all around). So when I started watching this series on LGTS, I just kept wondering how things would turn out to be the way they were in PM. Always knew Elise didn’t have a good ending coming… now that I’m done watching LGTS too, I just feel for Goldia and her family situation. 🥲 If I remember correctly, the true ending to PM is the one where she wakes up in the mental asylum… really makes me wonder if she’ll just spend the rest of her life there. 🥲 wish she got to spend more time and bond with her mother, Elise…

      Hello! So AstralShift originally developed their game/marketed it on their tumblr. They also had an ask/answer function on their tumblr. there was at one point someone who answered a question phrased it strongly that Dawn was the real ending on one of those ask functions. However, that answer (and the tumblr itself) was removed. I would imagine that if AstralShift wanted to communicate a real cannon ending they'd do it through their game itself. If I were to give my best AstralShift impression it would be "Any of the endings could be the real one" but for reason's I'll go into later, I do think after LGTS and Goldentraum that the Little Goody Two Shoes ending is the cannon one now (especially after we saw the painting of Goldia in the First Witching Hour)
      In the Dawn ending, Goldia wakes up after putting herself back together (collecting all regalias, but not saving enjel) so she isn't a shattered soul anymore. she won't live in the Asylum - there's nothing wrong with her anymore. she just has to keep the pocket mirror close to her forever

      But I like your clarification about PM’s Dawn ending. Honestly, I couldn’t really understand much… I just knew she was getting discharged. I didn’t know that it also meant she was in a much better place mentally - always thought she’d be afflicted with mental illness for the rest of her life. I wish the creators would at least hint at what Goldia would get up to next… and I still wish we got to see more of Goldia and Elise’s mother-daughter relationship :’)

    Washu, "the red shoes" and "the green ruby" what is useful for Elsie, just increase luck, just decorate?, who give her red shoes?, and why give her red shoes? .

    • @BakaWashu
      @BakaWashu  11 месяцев назад +13

      hello! the Red Shoes are Ozzy's invitation. Ozzy gave them to Elise himself. his marquis both acknowledge it as a hex and its basically the beginning of the end for Elise. It looks like the wishers all wear the shoes and their Good Company do not. many of the golden girls comment on her shoes "I wish I was in your shoes!" because they can, actually, still come off. Whereas their shoes cannot
      Ozzy gave her the shoes because it puts her fate in motion. its like the domino effect that ends with her being an especially regretful and suffering golden girl (that he's been waiting for since he made her)
      I think the Emerald Brooch was a nod to Pocket Mirror mostly. it was an important keepsake from her mother. the shoes are decorated that way (the emerald and the ribbon) to make it extra clear that this specific pair of red shoes was made for Elise

    In the bad end where Rozenmarine was killed and that dude said that he will be back for Elise's second child could that mean that this is the start to pocket mirror? Elise could be the main character from pocket mirror's mother???

    Washu, the item "pocket mirror" possesses strength, keep and protect the soul not taken away by Ozzy? all series game Ozzy forever will win? and Ozzy scare item pocket mirror or not? why he not Take away directly pocket mirror?

    • @BakaWashu
      @BakaWashu  11 месяцев назад +8

      The Pocket Mirror is still a mysterious object, made even moreso after the events of this game. It appears to be some kind of treasure (?) from Lebkuchen that quite literally repels evil and devils (including Ozzy). It needs to be kept close to the person its protecting to be effective (50:39) Explaining those details would take quite a lot - it appears there is a link between the Pocket Mirror and Goldia's soul, especially inside Goldia's dream/mind. If the Pocket Mirror is destroyed in her dream, its no longer effective in real life (maybe even is destroyed) and she dies. Ozzy can't/won't take the Pocket Mirror directly, but Enjel can. But since she's made with his magic, she dies when she does (in both the Dawn ending and in the Shattered Delusion end). It looks like the Pocket Mirror can be collected directly after it shatters Enjel and Goldia dies. Maybe its only good for a one-time use?

    Washu, if elise Deceased, the elise's soul will become golden maiden belong to Ozzy or the soul free ?

    • @BakaWashu
      @BakaWashu  11 месяцев назад +5

      Elise's soul belongs to Ozzy forever after the contract is made (36:18)(41:17)
      It looks like it applies to the Good Company as well, with the exception of Lebkuchen? its not clear if/what happens in Leb's bad end (1:50:21) Maybe she is going straight to Ozzy

    • @Suika182
      @Suika182 9 месяцев назад +9

      Not quite, in the bonus room in Goldener Traum Ozzy complains that Elise's soul was protected after her death and he couldn't claim it. Still sad, as Rozenmarine is a golden girl and they can't be reunited.

    • @BakaWashu
      @BakaWashu  9 месяцев назад +4

      Oh very interesting! I went back and watched again. He says "Too bad she(Elise) wouldn't join me, I sure tried. I guess gold wasn't her color."
      I still think in a sense Elise's "soul" is forfeit somehow (since that was part of her payment). Maybe, in the sense, that "Elise," like the good part of her, is gone. she sure does seem lifeless and (mostly)obedient in her new life
      However, I'm confused about this. At the timestamp (41:19), you can distinctly see her portrayed as a Golden Maiden. I'm questioning whether this is a continuity mistake or not. Perhaps this scene represents Ozzy's imagination, where he's contemplating/looking forward to how delightful her soul will become. That is clearly an Adult elise too.
      But in the Goldentraum ending, like the 'Shattered Delusion' ending, Elise is clearly shown as a golden maiden on the left. Also This was a HUGE plot element in LGTS - the idea that both you and your good company are destined to become Golden Maidens. I'm puzzled why Rozenmarine would remain one if it were a choice. Is it like... Ozzy is keeping you from experiencing your hellish punishment? In that case, why would any of the Good Company stay(the shoeless girls) they didn't do anything wrong and could presumably leave@@Suika182

    Washu, Who is second Elise's Born twin. Henri or Daughter? and why give pocket mirror for daughter not for a boy Henri?, and Ozzy like a girl than a boy?, when him just collection golden maiden all the girl not the boy in collection?

    • @BakaWashu
      @BakaWashu  11 месяцев назад +13

      Elise gives birth to a pair of twins: The first born is Henri and the second is Goldia (49:28)
      Elise gives Goldia the pocket mirror because her SECOND born child is forfeit to her contract. (32:33) (38:24)
      Not sure! it looks like Ozzy prefers to torment young women exclusively (40:35) maybe its because he finds their hearts particularly vulnerable? or maybe he finds their regret especially tasty?

      Hello again! That would need quite the discussion but I'll summarize. I really could talk about it for a long long time. The really short version is the LAST paragraph
      First, the fact that Holle has a tapestry is itself unique. The time period this game takes place in (about 1840 - on Goldia's psychiatric discharge the year is about 1860 so I worked backwards) would make this extremely valuable. Tapestry weaving for the piece it was based on (The Unicorn Rests in a Garden) would mean that an ordinary person shouldn't have access to it, implying its magical/related to Holle being a witch. And it turns out to have magical properties / like responding the day, night, and fated choices Elise is making. Elise seems to respond that its not normal the Tapestry is changing, so maybe its changing now for the first time (arrival of her fate / Rozenmarine and Flocke)
      There is a few ways the tapestry can be thought of - first, is that its literally the Grove that Elise is visiting. In the Ceramic Golden Girl (the one with Holle - the Tapestry is gone into detail a bit) Elise = progeny of the woodland = child of Walpurga. The tapestry = the woodland. So Tapestry = Elise. I think the tapestry's contents is a discussion on Elise's fate. the woman in the picture has a similar-ish brooch to Elise and the Bowman has a similar-ish appearance to Ozzy
      The girl in the tapestry is trapped in the fence, so its implied purity. She is not happy about being there. swapping of forms between the mythical creature and a beautiful woman. Eventually, a man comes to court the woman. Then, the man shoots and kills the Unicorn. Then it shows the woman impaled with the same arrow. then the girl is gone and the forest is then drenched in blood.
      The apple falling is like sin touching the Pure girl. the apple only starts to fall when the bowman gets violent. the reason i think its strongly related to Elise is because that same apple actually appears in her bonus room in the Pocket Mirror Goldenertraum (and the same background). Its almost like the bowman in the tapestry is Ozzy and Elise begging for escape from Kieferberg isn't really what she wanted. It could be a discussion that the Girl in the fence has a wish to leave, so the man grants it by killing her. That's a bit like Elise - 'I want to leave Kieferberg' but only to be miserable with a man she doesn't love. the biting of the apple is what causes the expulsion of Adam and Eve from The Garden of Eden as well, which is the more obvious comparison.
      The idea of love from the bowman transforming into hatred for the Unicorn makes me think the man rushed to conclusions, but by a TWIST OF FATE, he granted the woman's wish anyway which was to escape. This is EXACTLY what happens to Elise. She rushes to have her wish granted just to kill the thing she loves.
