Awesome stuff. I like the philosophy talk, also because I'm not a guitar player haha. You don't often hear these conversations between two people just talking about life and the bigger picture.
It was JUST like that when I met him after a show. We waited outside his bus after a show to meet and get his autograph, possibly the coolest guy I've ever met.
Absurdity. Yes. Traditional jesters or "licenced fools" used to spear absurdity and falsehood by mocking and satirising it, spearing it with irony and sarcasm. A gift and a healthy one at that.
I really, really enjoyed this conversation. Quite deep and really honest. I always find it hard to hear Devin or another artist I admire hear talking about how hard and tiring touring is. Because the moment he makes his fans the happiest (performing their favorite songs in front of them, in person) is the moment he is in an environment away from home and comfort. I feel kinda selfish for wanting to see him live so bad, just because it puts him in that situation. If that makes sense.
I keep waiting for an interviewer to bring up Devins appearance on Bulgarian TV.. on that talk show. Did anyone see that?? That was _the_ biggest hilarious train wreck of all time. I laughed for 20 mins. Devin is the greatest!
Hellborg’s incredible portfolio albums are some of my very favorite. It’s always the check this out kinda surprise I pull on friends and they are always like, damn, who is this??
Jonas, please put out a new album... even just solo bass would be cool. It's been a few years now and you used to put out one a year. Maybe one with Devin would be cool. ... great talk too.
Crap. What a luxury to live like these musicians. John Lee Hooker has an album called Free Beer and Chicken and boy could he play from the heart. Eat what you want and be happy. A very small percentage of people can go to Africa and try as a westerner to fit in with that culture. Total pretentiousness. Kale sucks! Fucking trendy. Yoga sucks also. Just breathe and live your life. Hype
+Jay John its super cool that you seem to be stuck in the whole "Every musician is a millionaire" phase that stopped being true, well, actually it was never true. Travel isn't expensive, maybe from some places yes, but to say that its a "luxury" isn't true at all, it boils down to how badly do you want it, do you want to travel? sell everything you own, or your house, whatever, and do it. You dont even have to do that actually, just save a bit of money for a year or whatever and just say fuck it and go. I've done it, lots of people have, it just comes down to how badly you want to do something.
this was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more deep than i thought it would be XD .
Nice to hear Big Dev talk about other stuff than his new albums or his balls.

Had a chat with him on one of his acoustic endeavours back down the UK and he's such an awesome and genuinly nice guy... even got a man hug lol

I like how he said "Well, Jonas brother" at the end. Kind of funny because of the group Jonas Brothers.
The irony about eating meat/seeing where it comes from and using exotic woods is not entirely lost on me.
This is beautiful
INCROYABLE! deux de mes artistes préférés venants d'horizons musicaux complètement différents ensemble!!!!
Alors là je suis sur le cul!

look at it this way - whether you were to go or not he'd still be on tour, he's doing that for YOU, why waste it?
Megan Prothero True that!
How badass a musician do you have to be to start a talk in a music context and just go on about the ethics of vegetarianism.
Very interesting conversation.

Mm-hm. Mm-hm. Mm-hm. Mm. Mm? Mm-hm.
Jonas is soothing as fuck.
Jonas is so cool
never realized how much Jonas Hellborg looks like Christoph Waltz
Jonas à quand le prochain album?
20:32 That was Plato actually. The tripartite soul, its called.
"aboot" oh Devin.
Dev seems like a good guy.
It won't play on the mobile app
Devin had his biggest spiritual enlightment when be beat Ocean Brainmaster, just for a sidenote.
Ocean Brainmaster? What do you mean?
Point of this interview: Eating meat is great and good, as long as you're ignorant about the process BEFORE it becomes meat.
