    Hi. I am a postal worker and I bought like 3 pairs. I must say they are comfortable and nice to wear but they don’t last long cause I do a lot of walking. About 12 miles a day because of my route. So the drawback is the bottom is the first to wear then the inner sole but I wouldn’t mind finding a pear that last a little longer than 6 months.

    Love the look of these and was about to get a pair, then realised they're not gaiter compatible, which is kinda crazy for a winter hiking boot, especially here in the UK, I need to be able to wade through shallow mountain streams in them and they too low for that without gaiters, a bit gutted as I really do love the look of them, they could just add a little tab to clip gaiters onto at the front, great review!

      Started hiking more after my first pair of Free Hiker because it is just SOOOO Light, and super comfortable on both the top and bottom while hiking for a pair of hiking boots. I ignored it for a year thinking it's an over priced pair of hiking version of SUPER NOVA boost running shoes until I tried it few years ago during Christmas sale and was hooked since the Free Hiker model is most stable and comfortable pair of shoes I now own!

    I am a size 11.5 and they fit snug. If you wear medium to thick socks you may need to size 1/2 size up. They grab the back of your heel nice for a snug hug almost which is unique and I don’t experience on many other shoes. Took some getting used to but I kind of like it for support. And yes wish it had a front pull tab

    Thank you for making this video so I can have better understanding of it's features before placing my order. Amounts my 30+ pairs of different Adidas boost shoes/boots the Free Hiker model is THE most versatile, functional, stable and comfortable shoes/boots for my wider & flatter feet. I Love the waterproof Free Hiker GTX (Gore-Tex) for hiking and walking the dog into wet/muddy areas that other dog owners would avoid so I can unleash the dog to burn out its steam of the day; however, in the cold winter season it's just too cold even with Merino insoles and Merino socks (Rule#1 in cold: NEVER WARE COTTON SOCKS!! since the saying "COTTON KILLS" is not a myth!!). The TERREX Pathmaker Climawarm Boots is stylish and very warm; however, it is a narrower fit even with one full size up. It is much heaver with a very stiff ankle support and MUCH harder outsole that the boost is often not notifiable unless I use the Hefeluxx E-TPU (boot) insoles.
    I received the Free Hiker Cold RDY sneaker boots in the Pharrell Williams Triple black version almost a week ago and loving it. I LOVE the zipper since I don't have to install the elastic No Tie shoes laces on them as on my other shoes. I bought this pair with 1/2 size larger in order to install the Hefeluxx OG comfort insoles (works best over all other versions of Hefeluxx insoles on my Free Hikers) and the comfort and stability is equal to all the other pairs of Free Hiker/ Free Hiker GTX I have. Without the Hefeluxx insoles I would go true to size like my OG Free Hiker with excellent fit; however, the Hefeluxx insoles just adds extra "Boost" feel especially when hiking all day up and down on rocky mountain pathways. Thanks you so much again for making this video.

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 3 года назад

      The Free Hiker is much more comfortable for wider/flatter feet as well as it is much lighter and not as stiff on the ankle area. The Boost is well felt on all Free Hiker models but not the Pathmaker CW.

      I just need a shoe for normal wear wheb it's raining outside as my normal shoes tend to get wet inside as they absorb water. Will this ensure I have dry feet when it rains outside?

    • @jdubb45
      @jdubb45 3 месяца назад

      @@HerschelVjepxa yep, that's actually why i bought them - but there's a few caveats. Ex: i didn't realize at first that the waterproofing from the Gortex diminishes over time. Depending on how often you wear it/how much you expose it to, people say you may need to give it a few fresh coats of waterproofing spray every 6 months. I've had mine for years and haven't sprayed mine and my feet stay dry but... i havent exactly jumped into 3ft puddles either lol. Also, even though GTX makes it less breathable, it's still primeknit, so in cold weather it may be chillier than thicker shoes/boots. That said, I've worn mine in snow several times and I've been fine 🤷🏾‍♂️. Hope that helps

    I just scored the new version of these for work (at a fish market) where full size Rubber Grundens are the go-to since everyone's getting literally hosed on all day, they did hold up and kept my feet dry, but I do need to add some DWR Spray under the zipper/tongue part of the shoe where the water seemed to soak in finally, my feet did stay dry though, over-all for the paces I put through them I'd give them 👍 especially the light weight and comfort vs. A full heavy Rubber Boot.

    Washing in hot water is typically what strips the water-proofing coat from materials. My buddy was a dummy and washed his Northface waterproof Jacket- turned it into a windbreaker.

    • @dankmemer2774
      @dankmemer2774 3 года назад

      There’s a difference between waterproof and water resistance. A waterproof garment has a dwr(durable water repellency) coating on top of a waterproof/ breathable membrane underneath, water resistance only has the dwr. If that jacket you mentioned absorbs water, then yes the dwr coat is worn out and needs to be reapplied. However, if it absorbs water on the surface, but no water leaks through the other side, then it is a waterproof garment. If the jacket completely fails with water penetration, then it is a water resistance garment. In any case, the dwr coating should be reapplied because that aspect is found on both types of jackets and can be worn off through constance use or wash.

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 3 года назад +3

      I have few GTX as well and they are too cold for winter season especially walking the dog in the early morning in a foot or more of snow even with wool insoles. Got the Cold RDY a week ago and definitely warmer. I am still waiting for the cold weather coming next week (-7 feel like -13) with very little snow (1cm) but 40Km wind gust to test it out. Tested it with 20mm heavy rain with 50Km wind gust this morning (+5 feel like 0) and my feet were dry and warm with merino insoles and socks (never wear cotton clothing especially in winter! google "Cotton Kills" to learn why) while going through deep puddle and very, VERY soft/deep mud. Clean it up like I always do after each use of my shoes and they look just like new.

    @Heskicks here's a secret get the Gore Tex laundry wash and use it to wash the shoe and it will water proof the shoe. Then dry it on low after just spray it let it dry then give them a 2nd spay and your good

    when is Adidas going to sell these in Canada, where it get's super cold. They're leaving a lot of money on the table.

    Even with boost in the mid sole, it really doesnt feel like it. These are a bit more durable than Free Hiker 2 GTX and theyre insulated for warmth but I dont find them anywhere near as comfortable as Free Hiker 2 GTX. I never really feel that “energy return” on the Free Hiker Cold. Rdy.
    If youre doing long potentially colder or snowy hikes, thats the only time I would recommend these over some other Terrex options, particularly the Free Hiker 2 GTX. I found the Cold. Rdys to lose its comfort.

    I wouldn't bother. I have a pair and have walked a great distance when bad weather came in: The goretex is genuinely waterproof, they also have great grip. However, the toe box is really badly shaped and gave me sore toes. Plus they are freezing cold. Goretex isnt that breathable (that's all BS) so whilst it keeps rain out, it can cause your feet to sweat like crazy. They seem to have gone as far as possible to ventilate them which means they are colder than a pair of cheap runners. Overall they're a decent looking boot, but absolutely crap for hiking.

    Sorry to be pedantic, but it's Gore TEX...with an X, not Gore Tec. HAHA! Thanks for the great review!

    Great video! I don't mind that you pronounce it 'Gore Tech' but then you still pronounce Adidas 'Terrex' with the 'EX?' They have the same suffix but you pronounce them different?

    Adidas Terrex ; totally agree 8.43 point about folding down (or cutting off) the ankle tight bit; more comfortable. Also wish they were'nt made in China.

    White boost was a nonstarter for an all terrain boot. Why would you ever do that? Any water resistant shoe has to be non-white boost sole. Have these people ever seen what mud and grime does to white boost?

    Would the cold rdy pair be too hot for spring & summer hiking? I’d like something for all seasons but feel like maybe the regular free hiker may be for suitable for hot weather.
