Matt’s explanation of how to use a match for training …is by far….the most valuable and articulate breakdown found anywhere. There are soooooo many layers to a match that Matt indicated. Thank you so much for your presence here…it’s what we all need…damn that’s good stuff…and truth. Pure. Simple. Truth.
Zero and some others have done the same thing. For people that are supposedly into the gunfighting/training world, they seem to be a bunch of little bitches.
The lack of respect and the lack of self awareness to admit that he is waaaaaaay out of his league is astounding. Chris, Matt and Nick who’s combined knowledge and real world experience is beyond measure give this guy every chance to back up his claims and even offer him a spot in their classes. He doesn’t even have the ability or depth of knowledge to explain his position BUT he’s got his own RUclips channel for “LE specific training”. Basically he doubles down on his own ignorance, why is this so common now?
Big egos are running rampant. Not one single original thought from cake this whole conversation. It sucks man, so many people being led astray by guys like him
So many professionals live and die on their image instead of their performance. Once exposed they have to double down or admit they never put in the work.
We need an experience filter in the gun community, so young larpers won't be able to get clicks. Clicks are driving the inexperienced to assume a position of authority they haven't earned, then breeding a new generation of kids who never grow into adulthood.
100 % agree. Seems like anyone nowadays can pay or attend an instructor certified class and then go teach. Its pathetic. Unfortunately, LE has officers with two, three, four years experience and they become SME after passing a bullshit state certified instructor course. Its a joke.
For most Cops and Military too (regardless of SOF), matches are very stressful. I went to USPSA when I had attended all of the "Advanced LEO" training in Texas. I learned more the first year in USPSA than 5 years of being a LE Trainer. Of my total 40 years in LE, I spent 32 training firearms for city, County, State, & Federal Academies. I was never involved in an OIS very likely because I had a shooting skill far above most folks (USPSA GM in Limited) which gave me confidence to perform effectively and gave me more time for other resources to avoid the use of Deadly Force. A 5 year Officer likely doesn't have the experience or training for this conversation......
Spot on. And his argument that matches aren't stressful is completely wrong, the higher-level people have more at stake and hence more performance anxiety than lower-level shooters that just enjoy the match for fun.
I was a cop for 34 years and I agree with everything you said. Five years on the job and this clown gets on the internet like he is a SME. Yet he has the balls to comment to Nick Young his connection to the rifle training is flawed or not 100%. Three men with extensive experience in shooting, military, and law enforcement trying to help this guy get his shit together and his facial expressions hearing the truth said it all.
Rewatching for a 3rd time 😂 When discussing drawing and moving on a stage, you can tell this dude hasn't shot enough matches. I'm new and I've seen a ton of stages that tempt you with stand and draw. But, if you understand the game, moving and drawing to another point, saves time. All part of your stage plan, which takes time to learn.
If some people stop talking and start listening they will be better overall. Listen to dudes that have lived the life and are still here to teach you. Some people just want to buck what works and they usually pay the price when the time comes.
These old guys just don’t understand what it takes to look good in the streets and on instagram. I’m just saying officer cake sounds like he knows a lot more than these random guys.
Cake has an extremely disturbing level of ego and arrogance for a cop but unfortunately it isnt uncommon. These gentlemen are the top experts in their field and were willing to sit down and have a conversation and even offer him a position in their classes. Half the time he just had a blank expression on his face and couldnt even answer straightforward questions. Disgusting.
This convo was over in the first 20 minutes. OfficerCake is like a lot of RUclipsrs out there who are just working their outside hustle but not really knowing what they are talking about.

Proud to call him a friend, and wish I had one ten thousandth of his skill, knowledge and ability.
Pranka said it best… he hasn’t earned a seat at the table. I’ve been in LE for nearly 30 years and there are too many dudes with over inflated egos that haven’t done much. Every big PD (1000+) is plagued by similar dudes. Shut up and train. Learn from guys better than you. Stop talking about gear and talk about concepts. Stop buying more guns you don’t shoot. Etc…
This is a very valid point! With these post 2020 generation they truly think they’ve seen it and all, fault to the guys who left. Now these guys think they reign supreme and can teach.
So I'm going to get hate but I don't care. This guy down here is the consequence of years of teaching from Scott Jedlinski. He single handedly has made other instructors that then go teach shit that they themselves don't even understand other than well this is what Jedi says. I am frustrated as hell with this stuff. It's mind blowing how much shit has gotten out out there by that guy and I myself suffered due to his ridiculous training. Just stupid.
I'm curious because I truly don't know. How is Officer Cake a consequence of Jedlinski’s teachings? I've seen Jedlinki’s Instagram and things here and there but not enough to have formed an opinion myself or any opinion for that matter. I just don't know anything or enough abiht that instructor.
@williamhitchcock5520 in part, he encourages and sets a (poor) example for people with no pedigree or experience bacse to "teach". This leads to people with the ability to market themselves having an un-earned ability to reach an audience that assumes they have some sort of authority in this space. But it’s still a mix of competing and training for them.
As I watch this video… I ask myself “this guy don’t know what he doesn’t know” and won’t admit it. Everyone that “really wants to learn the gun” will leave the ego back in the car! The look on Officer Cupcake’s face the whole time was like “Holy shit! My mouth wrote a check my ass can’t cash! How the hell am I gonna get out of this?” 😂 Let’s not forget, he’s a cop carrying guns in public. His inflated sense of knowledge of shooting and may possibly need to shoot on the job at some point should terrify the public. And when he showed his rifle, he said “this isn’t my duty rifle obviously” then when he was asked about why he had goon tape on his rifle he said “because our rifle has to be black at work”. I thought it wasn’t his duty rifle. Which is it junior? 😂🤣
This kid doesn't know, what he doesn't know. Dunning Krueger effect. He is however like the majority of police officers in this country. I do think competition has made me better because I put the pressure on myself to be better. I don't understand what cake was talking about, breaking up the skills of a foot pursuit and shooting isn't a bad thing. Get the shooting skills to as good as possible then add in movement. Speed and accuracy save lives.
Notice how he can’t speak on anything drill or training wise but has no problem just name bombing products like Daniel defense, risers, “kit”, or what tail switches he prefers. Another product gear junkie bites the dust SMH
Finally watched the whole thing and my take away is this: Three guys on the video are at wits end trying to untrain officers that went through, very accurately describing, “entertainment”. It likely causes needless delays in actual evolution of course work and training for their customers. The customers they train to stay alive, to shoot well and keep innocents alive, and to send bad folks to the worms. Entertrainment gets people hurt, and this is the other side of the gun world that no one really thinks about, with exceptions of a few. If you’re reading this, please consider this advice: take training from some of these guys, or Ben, or other actual competitor shooters. Ask around if others have taken the class, what was their experience, what was their takeaways, have they continued with their notes for training and finally, have they improved. This guys came off kinda harsh, but this response would be the equivalent to a PractiScore board, reality.
I watch closely how people, who regard themselves highly, engage with others. It's unfortunate that shooting skills don't translate into interpersonal skills.

I hope that the officer realizes that he's in the same position as I am. I'm not knowledgeable enough to teach. I need to learn so much before I can do that.
Man putting bs tacticool content on the same internet as Pranka is like chumming for sharks and going for a swim. Now I don't even feel safe posting videos about techniques I learned off early 90s cold steel videos. The real question though is will Pranka give me a free class if I'm willing to get roasted for 90 minutes like officer cake here.
I thought you were exaggerating when you said disabled man but the first 4 seconds of him talking told me he is not on the same level as everyone else in the panel
OfficerCake just received 2 years' worth of Admin stress inoculation training.

It was like watching an adult talk to a child about adult things….

All his terminology and everything is GBRS dude just let it go
Yep. Easy to spot. Pranka did.
Officer🍰ignorance is astounding... However... Fuck it. I might try to piss of Pranka and Nick to get a free class if they ever do them in the EU. 😂
