In November 2020 Sir Cliff Richard sets a new all-time Official Chart record that week by becoming the first artist EVER to score a Top 5 album in EIGHT CONSECUTIVE DECADES. He was 80 years old when he reached that milestone. Thank you for highlighting this amazing artist. He really is a living legend.

His voice is wonderful! He is also popular in South Africa, Japan, far east, Australia , New Zealand and Europe. Bad timing, he toured the US with the Shadows in 1960 during the Cuban missile crises!!! He has appeared on TV here in the 🇺🇸, even performed and guest hosted on Solid Gold. He started at 17 in 1958, his 1st hit was Move It ( it still sounds great today) he just turned 83 on October 14th. There are some of us in the 🇺🇸who are enlightened 😉to his music! I have just about all his albums, even his gospel ones…really good music. He performed in the West end theater in London ( Time and Heacliff). Appeared in multiple movies in the 60’sas well. He had s very popular TV show in the 70’s too!
If you go to his RUclips site there is a bunch of albums and concert footage uploaded as well as official music videos. Other songs that were big here was We don’t talk anymore, wired for sound, some people, living doll..etc.
Carrie was released in 1979 and is from the album Rock and Roll Juvenile…also a great song and album! Would love to hear more! He is my all time favorite artist/singer, next would be the BeeGees!

I bet you know his hit "We Don't Talk Anymore," also from 1979. You're right in saying that Cliff was huge everywhere on the planet...everywhere but here in the US. I assumed he was a bit more popular in Canada because of the British influence there. American fans are kind of in a secret club. On the one hand, we're special because so few people here know of Cliff. On the other hand, we want everyone to know about him because he's so wonderfully talented and such a caring, funny guy. (And my wife wants me to add how gorgeous he was, too!))
I'd like to suggest a beautiful ballad Cliff recorded in 1977 called "When Two Worlds Drift Apart." There's a phenomenal live version from the British tv show 'Top of the Pops.'

I still think the best music and best thing he's done was play HeathCliff though. It really showed the strong Cliff. The one who ground a boys wrist in the tarmac when he was taunted at school. Paul, I agree that Cliff was a force to be reckoned with in "Heathcliff." What a fantastic showcase for his talent!
Sue, "Heathcliff" was a stage musical adaptation of Wuthering Heights that was the brainchild of Cliff. It featured music by John Farrar (songwriter/producer for most of Olivia Newton-John's big hits, including "Grease") and lyrics by Tim Rice ("Jesus Christ Superstar," "Evita," "Lion King"). A quality production that pleased the fans and repulsed the critics.

You know that I love you, makes you want to learn bass guitar.
My luck won't change, is pure head banging rock.
Sci Fi name drops just about every Sci fi genre there is.
And of course We Don't Talk Anymore was Cliffs biggest hit and wasn't destined for the album but jist couldn't be left off.

Hi Sue .. Cliff Richard has a very lengthy singing career, from the late 50s through to the 2010s, but his best periods for chart success were the late 50s and the 60s, and the late 70s and the 80s .. He made a big comeback in 1976 with "Devil Woman", which had a darker, more modern sound than his lighter 50s and 60s songs ( which I loved ), and this lead onto a string of big hits, including this one from 1980, which like "Devil Woman" has that dark and mysterious feel about it .. Far too many Cliff hits to list here, as he was absolutely prolific, but if I had to name a favourite it would probably be "I Could Easily Fall In Love With You" from 1964 .. BTW, I guess we should be calling him "Sir Cliff" !

Cliff started out with the band the Shadows they all did a couple of films Summer Holiday then The Young Ones. I think there were a couple more but i cant remember though the name Wonderfu, Life comes to mind. Cliff is an icon in British music Cliff Richard and the Shadows were around at the same time as the Beatles so in a way as a young person you kinda followed one or the other, me i prefered Rock more on the metal side and at the age of 70 thats still my preference thats not to say I didnt like Cliff I did same regarding the Beatles i just preferred the bad Cream and similar but there is a place for all music in everyones life.

As an American who used to have a copy of a book that listed the British top ten songs for every week from 1954 to 1977 I would like to give my interpretation of the British music industry. Back in the 1950s record companies would dictate to the artists who had a contract with them what song they would record. The record companies would always have their artists do a cover of an American song. I forgot if it was a week in 1955 or 1956 but that week the same song recorded by six or seven different artists (on different record labels) were in the British top ten charts. Cliff Richard’s record label was no different with him and told him to cover the song Schoolboy Crush. Cliff did get the record company to let him record an original song for the flip side of the 45. A friend Ian Samwell wrote Move It on a bus. The record label sent out the 45 to all the radio stations in the UK. The people at the radio stations listened to the song Schoolboy Crush but did not play it on the radio. This could have been the end of Cliff Richard’s music career. One man Jack Goode decided to listen to the song on the flip side of the 45. While he did not think much of Schoolboy Crush he praised Move It and played it on his show. This in turn led other radio stations to flip the 45 over and play Move It as well. Move It is credited as being the first British rock n roll song. I don’t know if it’s true or not but I have a feeling that it might have also inspired British artists to try their hand at writing their own music too. Of course the influence that Hank Marvin had has already been mentioned.,
