Christine is my kind of lady! We both enjoy our food! One of the pleasures of RV life is trying new places to eat. Of course, being from the South, Waffle House is not new to us but Tim Hortons in Nova Scotia sure was! Very much enjoying this summer with Mom ❤️ series.

It’s been fun watching your “Summer With Mom” trip. It reminds me of when we took my mother-in-law on summer vacations (road trips from Ohio to So. Carolina). We all had a blast visiting places she would never have gone to on her own.

Arkansas is called the natural State. Before that it was called the land of opportunity. But I’ve never heard it called the Wonderstate. Our license plate say the natural state.
I thought it was full of wonders - hence, wonder state :)

Mom 👩is having so much fun and may consider buying a van for herself and doing this full-time. In the future she may travel with you in her own van.

Really look forward to your videos to follow “Mom” on her journey. A bit of history, Fort Chaffee near Fort Smith, Arkansas is an installation was an Army training camp, prisoner of war camp and refugee camp. It was opened in 1941 as part to double the size of the army. During World War 2 it was a training camp and POW camp where 3,000 German POWs were held. In 1958, Elvis Presley received his first military haircut in building 803. From 1975 to 1976, Fort Chaffee was a processing center for refugees from Southeast Asia. The facility processed 50,809 refugees from the Vietnam War, giving them medical screenings, matching them with sponsors and arranging for their residence in the United States. My husband was in the Army stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington when the Vietnamese refugees arrived and was sent down to Fort Chaffee because he spoke Vietnamese. I found an furnished apartment and stayed down there also.

it was too hot for us in arkansas, so we went to tennessee, and gatlinburg, in the mountains, 10 degrees cooler.

I haven't spent much time in Arkansas, just traveled thru Fayetteville when it was storming like crazy so this will be fun to go thru with you guys. Y’all should’ve explored Northwest Arkansas. There was so much more to see including the University, Devil’s Den State Park, Fayetteville’s farmer’s market, Bentonville, and the Cooper chapel in Bella Vista.
*and the botanical garden/chapel in Hot Springs.

I've been working in emptying and cleaning the house to put it for sale for the past 2 weeks.
I'm so tired and sometimes I get so overwhelmed, because my husband works construction and long hours 😩, so for the most part I'm here with my 6 yr old son and the pets working as hard and as fast as I can to be done and thankful with the house.

I was in Jacksonville AR in 1988. It was in the mid to upper 60s in February. When I left Maine it had been below zero for days. I was walking around in a sweatshirt, but locals were shivering in winter coats.
That's how I am when it is below 70 - love the warm weather but not the humidity
