I see it as Bisping and DC have a more laid back style and they kind of freestyle and react as they go. Then Dom also has his own style, well researched, super informative, technical stuff. It's good to have both style's. It's totally fine to have each style. The only thing that's not cool is blind biases. Gotta stay open minded
Dom is not that well researched though. He makes a lot of mistakes and technical blunders like when he said Connor was trying to wear Khabib out by letting Khabib punch him in the face.
@@Vkk1-i1u I think that was an actual strategy wasn't it? That was what Kavanagh said, right? If it goes to the ground just let khabib gas himself out trying to finish conor. Obviously didn't work so well for them.

True.. If it was anyone else in the same situation that he was in, he'd be yelling out the ref to stop the fight and making commentary about how the bad the ref was for not stopping it earlier.
"Scrum" is a rugby term. I'll let Wikipedia explain, "A scrum in rugby is a procedure to restart the game. From the outside, it may seem to involve players from both teams clustering tightly around the ball competing for possession. Analogously, in a media scrum reporters cluster around a public figure competing for his or her attention."
When I first began watching MMA, Faber quickly became my favorite fighter. Cruz owned him. Made me not like Cruz. When I heard Cruz as an analyst, I was blown away. He is beyond amazing with his ability to break things down. Chael is 100% right, Cruz will be the coach of champions.
1-Jon Anik said once he can share %20 of his notes because of the high pace the commentating is going. 2- DC prepare for the fights, I remember him visiting Khabib cousin (umar) locker room ,and giving him tips of the guy he is about to fight from his notes. 3- I enjoy DC the most because he can read fighters during the match.I remember DC calling the GSP and Bisping fight and he called GSP’s trick for submission right when GSP pulled it off. GSP explained it in the post fight interview to Rogan. It was impressive analysis that showed that he is an elite commentator.
They both just have diff styles. You dont necessarily have to be a encyclopedia of info on every fighter on the roster. Sure it's nice to have that but DC is a former Olympian and 2 division ufc champion. On those accolades alone it's great to have his take on whatever is going on during a fight. He has done everything in the sport. You dont have to study as much as say some1 like anik when you literally lived it being a top fighter in the sport.
By this logic we would have to listen to Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman drool into a microphone just because they were olympic wrestlers and ufc champs.
The way he moved is why he got those injuries Idk how everyone ignores that only to "bE pOsiTiVe" He messed up his knees with this weird shuffle movement
this comment is why cruz is somehow an underdog. his movement has never been better his kicks have never been better. hes in his absolute prime but nobody watches the footage. and nobody watched his last fight. they watch the fight of 4 year layoff post surgury no camp cruz fighiting cejudo. What fight was his footwork not the same good or better. not a single fight
DC may not know the fighters as well as he should. BUT no one can question his KNOWLEDGE of the Sport. So there can be a middle ground. But love DC and Dom! And yes Chael is 100% correct with DC and his personality!
You have the observational skills of a seasoned comedian. And your ability to examine the "function" of the behavior before forming an opinion of said behavior is why you're one of my favorite MMA commentators & podcast hosts. And it's all delivered in a language I can understand: sarcasm. Gotta love the bad guy! Happy holidays to you & yours, much love!
But during Dom's call of Conor vs Khabib fight...Dom sounded like a clown! Thank God for Rogan correcting him throughout that fight! And Rogan was RIGHT each time! I was new to the sport at that time but even I knew better at time!
Ok Dom is really insecure and I dont like him at times. HOWEVER, and this is completely unbiased, the reason he said that was becuase Conor told him that was part of his gameplan before the fight. No matter how stupid it is, and how he never should have said it during the commentating AT ALL, the only reason he said it was cuz connor mentioned it to him.
A selfish dude that doesn’t understand that saying what he said is like throwing dirt to his colleague. And now every time they’re together in the booth people will wonder how authentic is Dom being when it comes to DC. You don’t do that to someone you truly consider a friend.
@Trade Bum Simmons No it’s not like that at all, the fighters who put there entire lives into the sport at least deserve to have commentators competent enough to have done enough homework to at the very least remember their names (which DC has shown to fail at multiple times in the last month). Calling out a colleague for phoning in their responsibilities when there are plenty of people who could do a better job and are looking for the opportunity isn’t a bad thing, it’s the right thing to do
Listen to Dom then listen to DC, if you say Dom is the better commentator, either youre just a fan of Dom, or came from boxing and just want fighters hitting each other. Dom doesnt even call set ups that well. Joe's not a fighter but he can see setups and so can DC.
Ok Dom is really insecure and I dont like him at times. HOWEVER, and this is completely unbiased, the reason he said that was becuase Conor told him that was part of his gameplan before the fight. This such an idiotic example Dom haters love bringing up. Conor legit decided in that moment instead of scrambling and wasting energy in getting up, im going to tire him out and take few a hits and get the restart next round. With now a hopefully gassed Khabib. In which his credit he won the 3rd round.
It kind of annoyed me that Little DC hid behind that excuse of "am I wrong?" Cause it doesn't really matter whether he was right about Big DC or not, but whether it was disrespectful or not. And to put a colleague and friend on blast like that, and then defend it to his face, is pretty disrespectful if you ask me. That's what BIg DC is upset about. Whether Little DC's comments were fair, accurate, true, or not, isn't what's upsetting him. It's that his mate and co-worker would think that it's okay to say he doesn't put in much effort and doesn't prepare properly to a live audience without at least bringing the issues up privately or in a professional manner with their employers, if he really thought it was an issue.
Doesn’t matter how great of a guy DC is, when he can’t even remember fighters names in multiple occasions that just speaks to his laziness and disrespect to the fighters he’s commentating on
Ok Dom is really insecure and I dont like him at times. HOWEVER, and this is completely unbiased, the reason he said that was becuase Conor told him that was part of his gameplan before the fight. No matter how stupid it is, and how he never should have said it during the commentating AT ALL, the only reason he said it was cuz connor mentioned it to him.
Honestly, Chael you got me thinking about this one. Do journalists have a script of dumb questions to ask fighters both pre and post fights? It's become so cookie-cutter that it's become a joke, and from a fighter's perspective like us both (less the me) I'd find this to be annoying as Hell.
This is pure ego, Cruz tells himself at home that he studies the most therefore he’s the best commentator in combat sports when the rest of the world knows the position is waaaaaay more than just memorizing stats. Plus, most fighters would prefer you don’t point out every last little thing they do, as we’ve learned with the Apex, so his point doesn’t hold as much weight as he thinks.
I also think comparing Anik & DC is ridiculous. DC is one of the greats. He knows the sport & experience of fighting in the octagon at the highest level intimately. It only makes sense that he wouldn’t have to prepare as much as Anik, because of the perspective & experience he brings to the table. And when you listen to him speak, it’s obvious he watches almost every fight imaginable. He has referenced or named some real obscure fights right on the spot. I think that’s one thing the whole team has in common. And Anik being the smart man that he is prepares like a beast so he doesn’t sound crazy speaking with the likes of DC, Bisping & Dom…again Greats!!! I think this is pure ego. I don’t even think it’s genius. Look at what he was like when he didn’t like the stoppage with the referee. He got all personal and crazy. And then he kept bringing it up so much during commentary when that guy ref’s that it become exhausting. DC probably just called out something Dom didn’t like and from that point on he’s been sour. I also think he probably feels some type of way because of everything DC has going on from the ratings in the games, to Detail on ESPN, DC & RC and etc. DC has a great personality + he makes the sport discernible to a wider audience because he’s great at and it’s taken him to great heights. And Dom is prob thinking “but what about me, I’m overly prepared” lol.
@@phoenixrise2411 you couldn’t have possibly said it any better and I agree with you 110%. A 'scrum' is actually a rugby term where the 'forward' players from each team bundle together to obtain possession of the ball. Jon anik is also great bringing commentators back to topic.. like that bisbing guy.
Dom can be extremely biased at times. Rewatch the Mcgregor Khabib fight and listen to his commentary.
Dom is not that well researched though. He makes a lot of mistakes and technical blunders like when he said Connor was trying to wear Khabib out by letting Khabib punch him in the face.
Bisping does his research
@@Ali920a Bisping is a lazy party boy. He does not do any research. He forgets fighters' names and forgets his chain of thought. I think he has CTE.

The referee called it early
It was stopped early
"Scrum" is a rugby term. I'll let Wikipedia explain, "A scrum in rugby is a procedure to restart the game. From the outside, it may seem to involve players from both teams clustering tightly around the ball competing for possession. Analogously, in a media scrum reporters cluster around a public figure competing for his or her attention."

Mate you're still stuck in 2018?
He said one thing and people act like that one line is representative of him as a commentator
@@Reaching4Grapes he's just making a point. And a good one I might add.
No offense, but if you were new to the sport you did not know better. You may have been correct, but it would have been luck.
A selfish dude that doesn’t understand that saying what he said is like throwing dirt to his colleague. And now every time they’re together in the booth people will wonder how authentic is Dom being when it comes to DC. You don’t do that to someone you truly consider a friend.
I don’t know that it’s that serious dude
His colleague isn't good at his job though. Dom is right
@Trade Bum Simmons No it’s not like that at all, the fighters who put there entire lives into the sport at least deserve to have commentators competent enough to have done enough homework to at the very least remember their names (which DC has shown to fail at multiple times in the last month). Calling out a colleague for phoning in their responsibilities when there are plenty of people who could do a better job and are looking for the opportunity isn’t a bad thing, it’s the right thing to do
You sure do
If.....you're a real friend.
Listen to Dom then listen to DC, if you say Dom is the better commentator, either youre just a fan of Dom, or came from boxing and just want fighters hitting each other. Dom doesnt even call set ups that well. Joe's not a fighter but he can see setups and so can DC.

This such an idiotic example Dom haters love bringing up. With now a hopefully gassed Khabib. In which his credit he won the 3rd round.
DC is the Charles Barkley of the UFC. When he talks people listen. He says what he thinks and is unapologetic. Very refreshing
They’re both round and bald
Idk about that, Charles Barkley feels like he’s always being honest while DC is a ufc shill lol
Don't think Dominick Cruz should have said something like that in public, mostly about a coleague who seems to be a great guy

I think Cruz still can’t accept that cejudo loss lol.
@@josephbrotherbear2124 I think you 100% correct
