✅ Hi RUclips Friends! A new video? Yes and no. The video I released yesterday had a stupid mistake 😬 and was rather darkish. In my editing program everything looks fine though. I corrected the mistake (DJI instead of DIJ) and made it lighter. Hope you like it 🙏! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

This is the most thorough review I've seen on the pocket 2. Your segment about the microphone was very detailed, I don't think I've seen any other reviews that mention the 3.5 mm input. Thanks for noting that! And thanks for comparing it to your filming camera at the end. I've been on the fence about getting the pocket 2 or a larger camera like a g85, but this pocket 2 is so portable. The best camera is the one you have with you, they say. I travel all over, and I'll always have that little pocket 2 with me. Cheers
Great video well done. I find the P2 transformative - easy to get great moving shots but needs a lot of practice to get professional looking footage. I connected mine to a power bank to record some stage performances. On the first attempt it stopped recording after an hour but subsequently I have recorded continuously at 4k 50p for over 2.5 hours while controlling remotely using the Mimo app. The P2 seems to run its own battery down to around 8% then starts to recharge itself slowly and gets very hot - I'm not sure if this is going to do any damage in the long term but you can get very long continuous recordings like this
My family bought me the Pocket 2 and immediately I was overwhelmed. Your video helped so much! Great stuff there. Keep up the good work. Thanks again! MG

Sir this is the best video on youtube about this camera, you've sold me I ordered one for my adventures. I'm looking to get into youtube production and have bought this and a Mavic Air 2S fly more to get started.
Very good informative video. I already have the P2 but haven't used it as much as I'd liked yet. I shoot b-roll and stuff for stock agencies and also have a GH5! - still the best video camera at that price point. Keep up the good work.

Fabulous video my friend. I’ve had the P2 for a while but every time I watch your content, I learn something else. Could you let me know if you use the Cinelike or normal filming mode? I’ve tried both but find the normal mode perfectly adequate for my use.
This first review and that review are both really nice, enjoyable and they give a useful overlook of the P2. And I like the way you do those reviews! There is just one thing missing IMO is how to use the P2 in bad weather. I know it's not waterproof but there's gap between divig into water and just being splashed by rain...So what are your thoughts about it?
Hi Juju, Is it missing? I thought I mentioned it somewhere. How water proof would you like it to be? I use it outdoors, also in the rain and it is still functioning. But... DJI does not warrant this. I use clingfoil and a plastic bag sometimes when it rains longer. Or an umbrella. I don't have the waterproof housing from DJI. Does this help? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Hi and thanks for your reply! As far as I remember it's not mentioned. Maybe in the hundreds of comments ;) Fair enough for me, I now know it's more less splash proof, I won't put it into the water tho!
@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Here's the hack that I use which solves one of your complaints....I cover the sd card slot with a small piece of black electrical tape, no dust/moisture/debris can enter the device.
Hello thank you for the vid, you answer my question at the end, DJI pocket vs gimbal om5, and you said the pocket is better. What about filming on a bicycle and how to put it on the bicycle bar ??
Hi Alfred, There are brands that make this attachment. Google 'dji pocket 2 mount' and you will find many options that might work for you. I am not sure I would mount it on a handlebar of a mountainbike though 🙄. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Hi and thank you and congrats for your review. Have you ever noticed in long recording (i.e. more than 10 minutes) with the DJI P2 an annoying audio delay? And the longest the recording the worst the delay, more than 1 second in a 40 mins catching... thanx for your answer
Hi Giuseppe, No, I have not. Mine is spot on. But... I hardly shoot takes more than 10 minutes. Have you heared from others that have this? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Hi Sebastian, Most of the time its on automatic and that works very well. But is also possible to adjust most manual in Pro mode. Does this answer your question? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Hi SM, Depending on the thickness of the case... I have a new Quadlock and that it not to super. I use elastic bands sometimes to secure the iPhone. I hope this helps. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe 😄! Cheers, Gijs
Thank you for a very nice video, it is good to se the tricks in action, especially the explanation on the modes are very handy, “follow”, “tilt lock”, “fpv”, and the new mode with pressing the key next to the joystick. We are very happy with our P2. Going hiking this weekend in Denmark, and I will try to pack my backpack according to your video. We also fly the DJI mini. Good that you have you voice back,so we get the inspiring video’s Regards Kim Koldsø
great video. Do you think the video quality is better on pocket 1 or 2 please? I can get pocket 1 used on ebay for like 100 pounds. I would prefer to pay a cheaper used price than expensive pocket 2.
Nice thank you. Good points! I learned the trick of placing the camera (when the head is floppy) into the holder button-side-down by myself (not realising it was somehow advised). I do intend adding my own 'hill' by sticking a rubber foot or something right next to it. Agree about the storage of wide-angle lens etc : I lost mine on a hill and thanks to good fortune I spotted it on the way down! I now leave stuff at home in a sandwich box. I almost lost my case up the hill too : my buddy gave me a lanyard for it. Fluorescent tape is being considered to spice up the grey! The external microphone has a 'dead cat' that is way too easily knocked off: I lost mine today on the hill or in the carpark. Never to be found. I have little confidense in the microphone clip but haven't lost the microphone ...yet. I didn't know about using it as a remote on/off switch so thank you for that! I love the idea of using the Lavallier mic plugged in to the remote! That is what I will do in future even though it involves climbing with yet more wires. Ah, I almost forgot the little joystick. Well, the little ruuber knob broke off somewhere/somehow a couple of weeks ago. I now have to rely on my fingernail to push what's left for zooming. Santa has been asked for a new one . Having said all that, the Pocket2 has given a quantum leap in quality to my videos and I think gained me more subscribers as a result. It is a wonderful device!
Hi Terry, Thanks for the tips! I lost my wide angle in deep grass but my dearest found it. The dead cat... I adjusted the 'legs' a bit inwards and it stick super now. Did you see that the P2 knows when the dead cat is removed? It says in the line in top of the screen. So thought trough this device is. I could easily do 1 hour more. Good luck with your channel; I envy you for your beautiful surroundings: Loch Venachar.... WOW! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Thanks, Gijs. Didn't know that about the dead cat. Oh, and thanks for taking a look at my Loch Venachar: that was a day to remember (only thanks to RUclips I will, lol!). Looking forward to your next one. Take care.
Great video. Your hand looks about my size and i couldnt fit it in the DJI supplied lanyard, so I used one left over from my Go-Pro Hero 3+ which was much bigger. Some people have said 256G micro SD card is max for Pocket 2, but I'm using a 512 with no problem. Agree with the weak case magnets. I lost my iphone adaptor after 1 day. The wind screen for the remote mic doesnt have a solid feel to it when inserted. Another reason to place the Pocket 2 in the case with the sd slot inside is the lanyard will now be on the outside. Im a new subscriber!
Hi Richard and Judy, Thank you for the kind words! My hands are 7.5/8 and I don't use the lanyard since it seems to be in the way always. Thanks for the sub! 😊 Enjoy the outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Hi Barrie, No, but... I got a few about a month ago but the sun has gone on holiday here so no chance to test them yet. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Great video. I have the p2 and will be using to film vlogs around Asia. My worry is the battery life and the heating. Should i get a second p2 as back up or a osmo action 4 or gro pro at least then i can swap out the batteries? What's your thoughts and will that affect post editing. Thanks again.
Does the headphone out actually work for you? I find it to be too quiet… am I missing something? Btw… the correct way to store it should be with the motor protected (inside the case)… if you notice there’s the perfect round space for protecting the axis. I used to store it as you do but it just didn’t make sense so i checked how they actually pack it when it’s new and it’s the other way around: you turn it off and while it’s still locked you olace it in the case with the power button down. Sorry i keep editing this msg haha. Great video, super high quality and great indoor light too man. Thanks for publishing it
Hi Drew, Thanks for the compliments 🙏.Headphone out... works fine. I tried a Sony phone thingy, I iPhone and a very expensive Sony WH-1000XM4. Cheers, Gijs
Hi, Thank you so much. Sorry, I cant... I bought it years ago and there is not a mark on it. But is must be something like the ME2. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Hi! I'm leaving a comment, such a lovely review! Just what I wanted. I travel a lot round UK ( seaside, mountains , everywhere) and everybody else are using GH5 or similar expensive cameras. You did more than I need - outdoor tent, hiking etc. While showing how you do it! Thanks a lot! I will definitely buy pocket 2 , and who knows, maybe even start a RUclips channel...
You did a lot of explanation about different uses for external microphones, but what can you tell about the built-in ones after 1-year use? Have you used it at all? How is the sound quality in general? Will the built-in mics will be enough to capture the environment or people talking around the camera?
Hi Lovetsky, Did you also see my other video on the P2? In general sound with the mic (onboard and separate) is fine.Answer to you last question: Yes, but of course depending on circumstances. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
excellent and educational. thank you. I use my P2 to record bands/music. Marty Sender You Tube. from what i've seen i'm the only one doing that. good job. thumbs up. Urge DJI to make a Pocket 3 with a one inch sensor, batteries, interchangeable lenses..faster processor.
Great video. I cant get my head around AFs and AFC . Is AFS like manual focus ? so you click on it once and it's focused at that point. So for example Click AFS once on a landscape. Move behind a rock ( rock should be blurred out) Pan /slide left and landscape will be in focus. AFC always does auto focus Landscape is in focus move behind rocK and it will refocus on the rock when would you use AFS vs AFC Regards
Hi Bill, AFS is Auto Focus Single. Use it mostly for static recordings. With AFS you must touch the screen to set where the DJI needs to focus. When you hit the record button it will stay on this focus. I use this for shooting myself for example when doing on the go presentations. AFC is Auto Focus Continual and that means that when you are moving the focus should adjust and keep the object in focus. It is important to have a look at the yellow box on the screen. Thin lines: it has not grabbed on the object, thick lines it has. Press the yellow box on screen to lock your object. You will see a lock in the screen. The AFC mode is more dynamic and responsive but it works better with light scenes that don't have too much contrast. But... the P2 does F%$K up once in a while. I hope this helps. If not: let me know! Enjoy the outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Excellent video 👍🏼 Just purchased P2 Combo version and would like to ask your advise for best setting for ‘action’ shots Moto X outdoor in particular - thanks 🔥🔥👊🏼 Cookie
Thanks for the review, what about the AFC? no problem to report? mine is constantly focus hunting and ruins most of my shoots. I now use it in AFS mode constantly. Any adivce on how to deal with the focus hunting in AFC mode? Thanks
Hi GFAH, Focus hunting... new word for me so I guess I don't have this issue. I will check and get back to you. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Hoi Gijs, Mooie re-review. Lesson learnt :)
Great video! We have the same combo package and did not know that the firmware update allowed us to switch on with "face the world mode" so thank you :-)
I really want one of these cameras but I find the phone compatibility issue a bit weird. The fact that you cannot use the camera without registering to a phone is strange and I question what data is being collected.
I don't want to have to do major micro surgery on a device to replace the battery when it finally crrrps out after years of sitting in a camera bag. I just don't have that kind of energy or time any more. So a non-replaceable battery is kind of a deal killer on any device.
Hello, just wondering if this camera is still worth buying, as I am after something for vlogging around Tokyo as I am going over there in September, or if you recommend any other camera.

Hi Gijs, thanks for your latest update to you review of the DJI Pocket 2 Creator set (and especially the hints of using the wireless mic en other mics. I have been thinking about purchasing this camera, but after rather extensive research on internet I am very doubtful about the purchase. Mainly because of a good number of reviews which mention all sorts of problems to get the needed app installed on Android smartphones. Can you (or anyone else reading this post) shed some light on this issue? Best regards, Thijs.
Hi Thijs, Yes, I have read the issues too. I talked to DJI about this and they say the app is the same for Android and iOs so it is a matter of the manufacturer of the phone... I know... this does not help, but it is the reason why I use Apple. I have grown up with building my own window pc's and android in the beginnen. Dealing with problems like it is normal. Since the first iPad came into my life I changed everything. Writing this... I recently had a look at the latest Samsung tablets and they look to do a super job too. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Hi Gijs, thanks for taking time to react to my question. So basically we've taken a step back in time of around 30 years, at witch time the industry coined the phrase "plug and play", which in reality meant "plug and pray" most of the times. Guess I'll pass on the Pocket 2. Kind regards, Thijs
@@thijsfeenstra8321 For sure I react (sometimes a bit slower). Back in time.... maybe Android is not keeping up the pace. I don't know. What i de know is that 30 years ago you needed 100K Euro or more to do what the DJI does for 300 Euro. That is progress😉
@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Just imagine recording skateboarders with FPV, follow them, go down with P2, switch to SM and let them jump over you. (I will try to do it in post production!)
That is how I do it. Doing SM makes you define the point of changing between speeds and making nice speed ramps more easy. But... I use Final Cut Pro X.

Hi, just bought my first pocket 2 and subscribed to your channel. Can you tell me if I can lock the exposure value to a general outdoor setting or do I have to manually set this each time I want to film something? I also own a dji mini 3 pro drone and on that I can set an exposure value and each time the drone is switched on it remembers my settings. So far I cant figure out if this is possible on the pocket 2? Can you help by answering this please. Many thanks Jon

Howdy Gijs. Just purchased the P2 earlier today so obviously was in need of tutorial type video to help me get started... and your video was very helpful. What are your thoughts on the P2's performance in taking still photos? My wife and I are going to Disney World next month and I'm hoping to use the P2 to take both video and photos as we walk around in the parks. It seems to me that I should be able to use the P2 with just one hand more easily than I would be able to with a mymart phone (Samsung Galaxy S10). Maybe the P2's photo taking capabilities (and limitations) would be good content for another video.
Hi RP, Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the comment. Yes, photo's are a possibility and I use the P2 for this once in a while. But most of the time reality is that the iPhone or the big G5 does this job. I think still are fine on the P2 and using the phone as a remote is super for selfies. I could do a video on this topic but I don't think I am going to. A lot things to do at the moment, maybe too many... . Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

Fabulous points for improvement! I totally agree 👍

I just ordered a DJI Pocket 2, it's coming in 2 days!
Have fun!

Is there a way to protect it from water? I want to record outside but it is raining a lot, so being able to film in the rain would be so nice!
Hi Henriko, Yes there is: store.dji.com/nl/product/pocket-2-waterproof-case
You shoot a lot outdoors, so you probably found yourself in very bright days. How do you solve the exposición problem? Lowering the EV? ND filters?
Hi Sebastian, Most of the time its on automatic and that works very well. But is also possible to adjust most manual in Pro mode. Does this answer your question? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Very nice review and update. A question though, will the adapter work with an iPhone in a case?

great video. Do you think the video quality is better on pocket 1 or 2 please? I can get pocket 1 used on ebay for like 100 pounds. I would prefer to pay a cheaper used price than expensive pocket 2.
Hi ST, I don't know... I don't own the P1. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

Thank you for the kind words! My hands are 7.5/8 and I don't use the lanyard since it seems to be in the way always. Thanks for the sub! 😊 Enjoy the outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

You did a lot of explanation about different uses for external microphones, but what can you tell about the built-in ones after 1-year use? Have you used it at all? How is the sound quality in general? Will the built-in mics will be enough to capture the environment or people talking around the camera?

Dope
Great video. I cant get my head around AFs and AFC .
Is AFS like manual focus ? so you click on it once and it's focused at that point. So for example
Click AFS once on a landscape.
Move behind a rock ( rock should be blurred out)
Pan /slide left and landscape will be in focus.
AFC always does auto focus
Landscape is in focus
move behind rocK
and it will refocus on the rock
when would you use AFS vs AFC
Regards

Hoi Gijs, Mooie re-review. Lesson learnt :)
Hyperlapse is best leuk 🙃. Ik leer ook iedere dag nog bij hoor. Veel plezier met je P2. Groet, Gijs

I don't want to have to do major micro surgery on a device to replace the battery when it finally crrrps out after years of sitting in a camera bag.

@@OutdoorguruGearReviews so you record in SM and wind up to normal speed? That way round? (Sure, thats the only way to use the fantastic SM Mode)👍🏼
