You can format the Date column as well. Data Studio shows YYYYMMDD but it also accepts YYYY-MM-DD for that as it uses the "-" as a 'stop word'. You can format the Date column (column A) instead of creating a new one. You can select the column, select Format from the top menu, then Number, then More Formats from the bottom of the list, then "More date and time formats", then select the 1930-08-05 option. If you want to do that part manually to ensure accuracy, do all the steps above but instead of picking the 1930-08-05 option, you can click on the Year Month and Day buttons next to the green "Apply" button and do the following. For the year select "Full numeric year", for the month select "Month with leading zero" and for the day select "Day with leading zero".
You make such great tutorials! I was able to build an app without previous knowledge only by your tutorials! Do an udemy course!!! I bet it would be sold out
Awesome! Not a big fan of Udemy. I might do it if I get around do doing a self-hosted platform. Make sure to check out my new channel for more advanced topics ruclips.net/channel/UCJebzvfCuA5ymtb79DQm36A
I'm struggling to get a chart synced via Google Sheets to update when I change the date range. It refreshes when I change the date but always shows the entire data range despite what date I select via the filter. There is no date range dimension available when I click on the chart.
Hi, as always your videos are so helpful. Thanks a lot for sharing. Could you help me out how to arrange the months in chronological order in a graph chat. I'm only able to sort the month by ascending or descending but not JFM... and so on. Also I tried your way by creating a column for date(yyyymmdd)on Google sheet. But it didn't work on data studio. Please suggest.
A little problem there: Your bar chart lists data in reverse date order! How do you get the early date bar to appear left and the late date bar to appear on the right?
=arrayformula(if(B2:B="","",text(A2:2,"YYYYMMDD")) (Change reference B2:B if needed for another column that has data... if it has data it will spread the formula).
Thank you so much for sharing all these helpful series!! They're super super super helpful and help my work do in a much more efficient way!!! I learn and practice with the Data Studio and found that lots of the UI layout and functions have been updated, compared to 3 years ago. Do you have a plan to update a new series for Data Studio?
Not necessarily update, but there will be a few new Data Studio videos coming up next week. That should help you figure out layout changes and then some.
Handsdown the best Google GSuite related channel out there (and other tools too...). Thanks a ton!
You are teaching all this for free, thanks a tonn bro

Amazing info! Could you share the dataset so that we can work on our skills while you teach?
Can we connect multiple google tabs in with different columns can we bring all togather in datastudio

Depends on your source data, but you need to have actual dates in your date column and not text Jan, Feb, Mar in order to sort them correctly.

Thank you. It worked. I changed the Date format to YYYYMMDD.

how about using =arrayformula at 3:10 ?
=arrayformula(if(B2:B="","",text(A2:2,"YYYYMMDD")) (Change reference B2:B if needed for another column that has data... if it has data it will spread the formula).

@@ExcelGoogleSheets Awesome!! Look forward to the new videos! Thank you so much again for your kindness!
can we combine a fields from a two differnt google sheets?
Curious, why would you use DataStudio and not just Charts in Google Sheets?
To look cooler :)
The purpose of Data Studio is to share a report without sharing the data.
Save my ass!!! Best solution I found
