Each of us mourns Arthas, Our One True King, the only one we ever had and ever will have. You will never be forgotten Arthas Menethil, King of Lordaeron, Lich King and King of all Warcraft.
Arthas made Warcraft into what it is. The face of the Lich king is the one thing that comes to mind when someone Remembers Warcraft. An icon, a legend.
My king, thank you for the journey through the north lands and Northrend, I wasn't the first, but I was raised into undeath, born to scourge the living and serve you once more in death eternal. Your service to Lordaeron and commitment to your people has been fulfilled my lord, may your soul find peace in death, your sacrifice and burden is felt by many. Although, your throne sits vacant in the icy north and the Capitol city of Lordaeron, blighted... during the first days of the 4th wars beginning, we shall always remember the name...Arthas.
The Blizzard writers failed us. Anduin didn't have any fallout for all the evil he committed while under the Jailer's influence, and Sylvanas got a slap on the wrist for all she did in the name of Jailer and being under his influence. Yet one of the biggest Warcraft characters Arthas, having been controlled through the helm and the blade by the Jailer, was reduced to a wisp and allowed to poof out of existence; thus ending any chance at a redemption arc for Arthas. I know Blizzard has been under the knife for awhile, but this failure will be felt for years to come. They could've done so much more with his story.
The idea of retconning the jailer into the suit designed to enhance arthas possession by ner'zhul merging them together to be the lich king really annoys me.
Yep thats exactly how it is all i can ever think to justify this fail of a story is internal issues between the writers themselves through the years i mean here we re talkin about characters that made Warcraft to what it is (ehem was). Anyway.. in the end i guess all things must end even Warcraft.
I just think that the man Arthas was, had no peace in life or in death and that is a shame. My regret is that he so willingly exchanged the life he could have had, for the darkness he never lost.

it is unknown if arthas is still out there somewhere in the maw since last remnant and flicker of arthas' soul was part of his soul since arthas will be judged and redeemed after destruction of domination magic and zovaal's defeat.
Pretty sure they kept the design for WotLK nostalgic reasons. That and he did have a new voice pre shadowlands before they brought back the dk reverb effect.
The best way Blizzard thought they could address the Arthas storyline conclusion was to not address it, and refuse even the future possibility of an ending. I understand it's tough to lay perfectly the story of Arthas, but to ignore it completely and deny any hope of closure is a massive disappointment.
Although i didn't play much during Burning Crusade(not my account), WOTLK is what caught my attention and started my first/current account. Lich King will forever be missed. Here's to hoping Wrath Classic brings back the nostalgia
It's funny to me how these scenes of Jaina and uther talking about Arthas was retconned and changed to what we got in shadowlands and uther apparently doing what he did as a kyrian and that this uther was nothing but a fragment that was inside the sword or something. Maybe that's what he lacked and should have been returned to him as a Kyrian to stop that which happened. Shadowlands couldn't have done arthas more dirty if it tried.
I feel the same....our sense of Justice really Is been tortured with what they've done ti this char.Never seen anything similar in a game...try to Imagine Square. Enix erase a char such as Sephiroth...nobody mentally sane would do such incredibly stupid thing. But Blizzard did It 😐
Fully agree....It was a good end for him...but they had to mess up things since soon After, showing him as an innocent boy Lost in the horrors of Maw,instead of giving him the peace he finally deserved...what a mistake!!
Gone are the days of heroes when its creators carried a strong passion for their craft. Now replaced with jaded cynicism and cowardly writers that kowtow to the tyrannical false virtues of a society built upon degeneracy. I'll miss this era for what it represented and mourn that it devolved into something that I can't stomach to even look at anymore.
Remember the films "Ready Player One" instead of putting King Kong as the final boss of the New York race, I would've put Arthas and the scourge instead.
Why'd he have to die so early? If blizzard wasn't do gun how on killing of bosses that are integral lore characters to the powers that be. He could've been a lingering presence like Nagash or Arkhan the black.
It's still baffling to me that an expansion about death did not focus on Arthas. All they had to do was do the same thing they did with Illidan in Legion and it would have been amazing. But no, they had to go a write a convoluted mess that barfs all over the legacy of Warcraft. These people should not be called writers, they are leeches, without any talent.
Blizzard dont know what they did to a character that was so close to our hearts, maybe even the only thing that really reached into our hearts from wow universe
What they've done Is so unforgivable that there are no words to descrive It...and It Will have consequencies for the franchise and Blizzard.....you'll see
Jaina: "Perhaps he might some day remember what he once was. By the Light, may he at last find rest, free from the icy grip of that terrible blade." Blizzard: "Destroy him, then throw his soul into the Maw, then destroy his soul."
My dream to see a proper Netflix series or Movie trilogy based on the great story of Arthas from Warcraft 3 all the way to wrath. Legion is also a nice precursor to “Warcraft 4”.
WOW Dragons: We are going home (Dragon Isles). Hopefully we won't be attacked by the Void. FFXIV Dragons: Our home is already destroyed. We were destroyed by a force somewhat similar to the Void (Meteion).
There could actually be a chance for Arthas soul to be saveable: Remember in Wotlk when we made quests for Matthias Lehner? It was part of Arthas' good soul that lead us to his frozen heart. They could do it like this: Arthas good soul as Matthias Lehner and died with this heart. Went to the Shadowlands and when Anduin was freed the little flicker returned to Arthas good half and reunited his soul like Uther and Sylvanas. And if he ever shows up it is Arthas as the Paladin he was, coming to terms with the Monster he became. That is at least my head canon to save that shit show of a fart in the wind ending for Arthas. (Still pissed that Uther and Jaina couldn't say a final good bye btw)
The reason I hated shadowlands revolves around two things. 1. The jailer being behind everything from the beginning from the burning legion, to a pantheons death, to Sylvanas shattering the crown. It doesn’t work when we only learned of his existence when they announced him at the shadowlands announcement without any hints that theorists could have even remotely come close to predicting something like that. 2. They’ve been building up Arthas being in the shadowlands. Given you met other former enemies, I thought it would have been awesome for him and Sylvanas go down a redemption arc together in the maw. But eff anyone who wants to see Arthas again.
The Woman equivalent of Ezio Auditore, both anti hero only to end in suffering and losing someone close because of something in play in the background.
Sylvannas says "horrible price" but the speech bubble states "terrible price". I never trusted her. Still more convincing than the apparition of Uther voiced by Kel'Thuzad.
I bought shadowlands bcs of 2 things. 1. Finally kiling the stupid high elf Sylvanas to finish what we started in WC3 and 2. Arthas was in the fakin trailers and i thought he is gonna come back or have something like a quest line to try to save him or something like that. And what did we got? Sylvanas redepmtion and the most dogshit thing *poof* and no more arthas.
If blizzard brought back Arthas and actually began to make their game way better no bots no multiboxers in pvp and no hackers and no toxity or cyberbullying and lower the game's cost i might resub if they did that.
Arthas's actions were minor compared to other characters and even to the average demon of the burning legion. They should of had a good ending for him or resurrection to save WOW.
"his choices were his own" So...when Sylvanas is controlled to do evil things she is not to blame but when Arthas is controlled by Ner'zhul and then the helm of domination , it's all his fault???? Also he did nothing wrong in Stratholme
I can accept hi fate, i don't like it but i get it, Jailer wanted revenge for Arthas messing his plans BUT why in the god's name was Sylvanas the one that did that shit monologue at the end, we had Jaina, the love of his life, we had Uther his mentor and a father figure, the reason he was in maw in the first place, why didn't they focus on a story line where Jaina/Uther actually try to find and help Arthas, what happen with Arthas was not more then a huge fan wank for Sylvanas
Jaina being thw biggest hypocrite. So easily able to forgive arthas, justifying his shit with bullcrap like "he was in there somewhere, he was struggling" like arthas is a victim, cause he obviously was mind controlled and shit, manipulated etc. But sylvanas doesn't desirve the same benefit of the doubt.
I can't stand the new little girl, Bolvar's daughter. Such a forced, unbelievable pile of crap character. But wait, Chromie is not a girl, Blizzard confirmed she's trans!

Arthas, the very definition of a hero who lived long enough to see himself become a villain.
May WoW rest in peace with our King.
it is unknown if arthas is still out there somewhere in the maw since last remnant and flicker of arthas' soul was part of his soul since arthas will be judged and redeemed after destruction of domination magic and zovaal's defeat.
Darion needs a new model. He was that Cloud Strike looking dude in the comics.
Here's to hoping Wrath Classic brings back the nostalgia
we will always miss arthas🥺🥺🥺🥺😟😟😟😟😟😦😦😦😦😧😧😧😧😨😨😨😨😰😰😰😰😥😥😥😭😢😢😢😭😭😭😱😱😫😩😓😞😣😖😖😖😣😣😞😞😓😓😩😩😫😫.
For our King!
Only fans would know that the last time Jaina and Uther spoke was in Halls of Reflection
My 2 absolute favorite wow characters were lovers ❤
They're both such badasses
The secret Trailer at the End .. So Amazing!
Blizzard missed the chance to add a child between Arthas and Jaina
Ive never been so annoyed and pissed with the ending to a characters story than I have been with Arthas'
I feel the same....our sense of Justice really Is been tortured with what they've done ti this char.Never seen anything similar in a game...try to Imagine Square. Enix erase a char such as Sephiroth...nobody mentally sane would do such incredibly stupid thing. But Blizzard did It 😐
They did Arthas dirty
They could never do dirty such a Legend...never!
Yep
He's still a legend. even in his destroyed, soul form, he still is more interesting the entire characters in that room combined.
It is amazing how many characters were destroyed in WOW.
True. One of the few stories I truly felt. The other one is the falling of Anakin.
Just saying, a TV series about Arthas from his early days to the frozen throne would easily rival GoT.
They really fucked Arthas in SL , what a shitty ending to his storyline they should have left it at Wrath and not bought him into this
He got turned into 35 anima, that then got deleted
True bro, true
At least bastion afterlives was cool
@@merlinboshoff1052 yea it was okay
Fully agree....It was a good end for him...but they had to mess up things since soon After, showing him as an innocent boy Lost in the horrors of Maw,instead of giving him the peace he finally deserved...what a mistake!!
"My son, the day you were born the very forests of Lordaeron whispered the name ... 'Arthas'" -- Chills. Every. Single. Time.
Such a pity. I would've loved to see him again.
Duck Blizzard for the way they ruined Arthas in SL, bloody sylvanas simps ruining lore for everyone else.
Yea i'm done with this i think i'll unsub tomorrow though it's a hard decision
First Kael'Thas then Sylvanas, then Jaina and Tyrande... So many Iconic warcraft 3 characters were done dirty in the mmo.
@@Porkey798
Yeah. I don't understand what the directors and writers are thinking. They are supremely incompetent.
The power of Pee-pee brain is uncontested.
Just think if Arthas comes back alive as a holy angel in some future story arc, and wazzups everyone casually. That would be a nice plot twist.
The lich king is so bad-ass, it is my phone wallpaper and most prophile photos
It's still baffling to me that an expansion about death did not focus on Arthas. All they had to do was do the same thing they did with Illidan in Legion and it would have been amazing. But no, they had to go a write a convoluted mess that barfs all over the legacy of Warcraft. These people should not be called writers, they are leeches, without any talent.
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader
Arthas Menethil/Lich King
Eren Jaeger/Founding Titan.
Best Trio ever become Protagonist/Antoganist

Yes!!! This!!!
tfw no sylvanas traumatizing arthas until he begs her to kill him

Peace be upon you my king :(
Blizzard dont know what they did to a character that was so close to our hearts, maybe even the only thing that really reached into our hearts from wow universe
What they've done Is so unforgivable that there are no words to descrive It...and It Will have consequencies for the franchise and Blizzard.....you'll see
Oh they do. They got rid of a fan favorite of the PATRIARCHYYYYY and now finally can have his Sister on the Throne.
@@Dharzjinion sadly, his sister Is as carismatic as a red fish in it's Bowl 😑🤦
Jaina: "Perhaps he might some day remember what he once was. By the Light, may he at last find rest, free from the icy grip of that terrible blade."
Blizzard: "Destroy him, then throw his soul into the Maw, then destroy his soul."
Darion talking with his father, that was something else.
To this day, I still think they killed off Arthas too soon, literally the second expansion.
I can't wait for wotlk classic!
Yeah, the most overrated expansion ever.
@@txdmsk I think that's the first time I played wow, at wotlk, played as undead warrior lol
How the fuck hasn’t his story been made into a big Hollywood movie yet is beyond me… it would be such a good few movies 😤
There could actually be a chance for Arthas soul to be saveable:
Remember in Wotlk when we made quests for Matthias Lehner?
Jaina is so pretty in that thumbnail
I think the fan base moutn him the best tho especially after what they have done to him. "My boy...look what they have done to my boy...."
Arthas did nothing wrong.
uther reminds me of janos audron from legacy of kain in this look
I NEVER FORGIVE BLIZZARD FOR WHAT THEY DID TO MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER!!!😡
The Woman equivalent of Ezio Auditore, both anti hero only to end in suffering and losing someone close because of something in play in the background.
what nightelf song is that in the outro?
Sylvannas says "horrible price" but the speech bubble states "terrible price". I never trusted her. Still more convincing than the apparition of Uther voiced by Kel'Thuzad.
Because of arthas wallpaper I aways know what is dota and Warcraft
The last they spoke was in Ice Crown Citadel
Tell all that Lich King is dead and World of Warcraft died with him, we all mourn one true KING
What if Arthas didn't follow Mal'Ganis to Northrend?
He met Anub'arak at Northrend
what if he never picked up frostmourne :O
@@Liwstar that would be a good what if... What if arthas ignored the call of Frostmourne and healed his friend and mentor
What if Arthas had time to explain Uther and Jaina whats happening to the pepople of Stratholme?
@@sharangcool or magni never revealed to him the sword existed at all
I bought shadowlands bcs of 2 things.
I didn't like the way Arthas's story ended. I mean, even Sylvanas found a chance at forgiveness; why not Arthas? Why not Arthas...
Still the best story ever done by Blizzard
what is the name of the music playing at the end?
If blizzard brought back Arthas and actually began to make their game way better no bots no multiboxers in pvp and no hackers and no toxity or cyberbullying and lower the game's cost i might resub if they did that.
the reason so many people started playing wow and this is the finale? sad
Arthas = anakin (vader)
He lives on in the Nexus,..... Soon as Xbox revives HOTS
You still think of him too… Dont you?
Someone knows what version of Arthas my son is used for the first cutscene ?
Arthas's actions were minor compared to other characters and even to the average demon of the burning legion. They should of had a good ending for him or resurrection to save WOW.
What they did to my boy Arthur
"his choices were his own"
So...when Sylvanas is controlled to do evil things she is not to blame but when Arthas is controlled by Ner'zhul and then the helm of domination , it's all his fault????
Also he did nothing wrong in Stratholme
I can accept hi fate, i don't like it but i get it, Jailer wanted revenge for Arthas messing his plans BUT why in the god's name was Sylvanas the one that did that shit monologue at the end, we had Jaina, the love of his life, we had Uther his mentor and a father figure, the reason he was in maw in the first place, why didn't they focus on a story line where Jaina/Uther actually try to find and help Arthas, what happen with Arthas was not more then a huge fan wank for Sylvanas
You got It.....
2:35 I thought the crown and the sword was made by the burning legion. Am I wrong?
No, they were artifacts in the possession of the BL, but they were not made by them

Twisted.

4:06 from this to the Shadowlands ending ... What a degredation
arthus never suffered in life he wanted power
And then, he was reduced to an anima fart...
I'm kinda sick of the girl power crap.... Everywhere you look in Warcraft now, it's a freaking girl power rally.
9/10 villains and heroes in the Warcraft series are male, so calm down Captain Neckbeard.
I can't stand the new little girl, Bolvar's daughter. Such a forced, unbelievable pile of crap character.
