@Ashton kinnett under heavy loads and a lot of boost, a turbine can generally get a lot hotter than what's shown here in this video. Ever seen a turbine housing glowing a bright pink/orange? They can take the abuse, but with a lack of lubrication (or overabundance) and proper cooling for the oil to prevent coking etc., any journal/ball bearing turbo will not last very long.
It is the job of the turbocharger to compress more air flowing into the engine's cylinder. When air is compressed the oxygen molecules are packed closer together. This increase in air means that more fuel can be added for the same size naturally aspirated engine.
It has nothing to do with being able to add more fuel. Oxygen is an accelerant, thus when a turbo sucks and compresses more oxygen into the engine it causes the combustion to be far more explosive more violent even with same amount of fuel. In a diesel for example the compression of the oxygen is what egnites the mixure and produces an explosion. When you compress oxygen under high pressures it superheats and ignites on its own without the use of sparkplugs. But in the video the turbo is delivering a superheated jet sream of air thats already ignited. This would destroy your engine. This is why your turbo needs to have a air cooler to cool the air before it enters the engine block, and your turbo should be oiled to maintain it smooth lubrication reducing friction of parts.
@@voltsoftruthBSbuster it has everything to do with adding more fuel. Thats half the point of supercharging (turbos are a form of supercharging, look it up).
