Leah, I am so glad i found your channel. It really feels like we are having a chat over coffee. I really want to read the book the comfort crisis as a reminder that we are meant to do hard things. Every time we keep a promise to ourselves we get stronger.
@@abrareads this makes me so happy, I’m so glad you’re here too!! ❤️ adding that book to my reading list right now because that sounds amazing. We really are! Meaning what we say and keeping our promises makes all the difference!
I thought you made a lot of sense. I wish I had someone who could help me set up the tracking and stay with me while I keep up with it. I just finished a no buy January. February is a big birthday month for me. I need to move this year and finding a suitable apartment (safe, clean, and affordable) is no joke. And my 2000 model car I have been trying to replace for over 2 years. I am in my early 60's so my job situation is not likely to change. I am exhausted coming home from work so trying to even look for a side hustle is difficult. I know I can figure out something, but it is just super hard. I am REALLY interested in hearing about life after the no buy year. What ideas do you have moving forward? I hear you saying what a midshift you have experienced. How do you see your life being in 2026?
I really do empathize with your situation and deeply wish people could live in nice, affordable housing & not be paycheck to paycheck on one income (or sometimes even two or MORE). It can be so frustrating! But I also believe that you will find a way and everything will work out for you. I’m rooting for you!!! ❤️ as far as what my 2026 will look like, I’m not sure! I promise to document that experience too so stick around haha but if I had to predict, I honestly don’t think I’ll be changing much from what I’m doing this year. I think I would like to try to be a little less strict in my “rules” for what I’m allowed to buy though. Our housing situation may be changing in the next 1-2 years and I know I will be needing to purchase furniture, decor, etc so I’ll need to be open to spending on that in 2026 and beyond. But I’m really hoping to take A LOT of these same parameters and principles of the no buy year into the rest of my life honestly! This has been so transformational in the best way ✨
@@niki9638 mine also started with finances but has grown into so much more than that already! Have you noticed any other benefits that you weren’t originally expecting?
I'm so glad I found your channel! I've just started documenting my own no spend and definitely need a reminder of my why!!
That’s amazing! I’m so glad you’re here too. Knowing the “why” is sooooo key. We got this 💪

This is our second low buy year. The environmental side is a nice side effect- our main reason is to pay off debt and build savings.

@ it’s easier to stay on our diet when we’re not going out shopping and seeing frozen yogurt, pizza by the slice, pretzels. Yummy stuf.
@ ahh yes!!! That’s a good point that I haven’t really thought about but im noticing that too now that you mention it haha
