I just ordered one of those. You are a great teacher. You make me happy with my purchase. Thank you so much for the instructions class❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
This is a great video. I just upgraded to a 2-story house with high ceilings, and high outdoor flood lights too, and have always lived in smaller homes with easily accessible bulbs and am afraid of heights, so climbing a ladder is not my first choice. Thanks.
Hello, Average Me. My family recently purchased a home with very high ceilings. We were lucky enough to make it abiut 3 years before we noticed light bulbs failing. I had ourchased one of these devices but was very intimidated by the minimal instructions included. You have brought my family out of the dark thank you so much
Fantastic. Thank you so much for your demonstration and explanation. I'm a senior citizen (5'2") and always need someone to change a ceiling bulb, which makes me feel like a beggar. I will order this now. Thank you again.😊
Thanks so much for your clear instruction on how to use this light bulb changer. I had purchased a similar tool that would come unscrewed from the pole because it did not have a hole for the set screw. I returned it & have ordered the one you demonstrated. I will not have to hire a handy man to change my spot lights & my porch light thanks to these instructions! I have the same issue that you do with your porch light-just can’t get my hand in the fixture to unscrew the light bulb. Your instructions showed how to use the tool without the pole to extract the light bulb. Also thanks for showing how to use the suction cup correctly. You are correct-this tool is well worth the $25
Finally someone showed the end threads of the pole instead of skipping to the lightbulb change! I did not know nor 100% sure if I could use the pole for other products such as paint brush etc.. ?
You could, but it's probably a bit lightweight for use with a paint roller. The alternative is to buy the light kit without the pole, and get a more sturdy, multi-use pole from the hardware store.
I have a problem. All the light changing devices are for lights pointing towards the floor. Mine are in a wall pointing towards the ceiling. O you would have to go up and over. Any thoughts on what to get for that type of light? I loved the video.
I've never lived in an apartment with such horrible management. Our bulb is on the ceiling 12 feet high on the top of a stair well where 2 sets of steps (10 steps & 4 steps) meet. It's been out 3 years. I've already fallen twice. My mom has fallen once. The second time I fell I was in so much pain for 6 weeks. I could barely walk for 2 weeks. I bruised my tailbone badly & had a lump at the top of my butt. I was screeching in pain for 20 minutes non stop. It was the 3rd most painful experience of my effing life. My long haired fluffy cat sleeps on the stairs at night once in awhile so often unexpectedly at night I'll slip on her furr & prior to that night I'd always caught myself. But that night I slipped & hit my tail bone on every step. Prior I tried putting my tallest stand there & a step stool on top but it started to wobble & I was like hell no. It really infuriates me what this complex gets away with. I can't wait for them to be shut down & sued someday. I think everyone living here prays for karma to bite them & they meet their inevitable downfall.
Thanks Mark. Nice informative video. But this device is worthless to me as is. (Except for maybe the telescoping pole.) You see, all of the bulbs I need to reach screw in and out perpendicular to the celling. So I need something with a universal swivel joint. Do you know of a kit that has one of those? Or am I going to have to invent one of my own.
Be careful with flood can lights, old bulb came out just fine, but when new bulb was screwed in it wouldn’t release without trying to rip the whole can housing out the ceiling. Pole was stuck dangling from 20ft in the air. It wouldn’t let me unscrew bulb either. Had to climb ladder use another stick to apply pressure on bulb while someone else gently pull the stick
I wonder if this tool could change GU 10 bulbs, which don’t screw in but have two short knobs in the base that fit into notches in the fixture. Those are a pain to change at regular height, never mind on my 20’-high split level stairway.
I'm sorry, I just saw this! It's a soft rubber attachment that simply wedges into the broken socket which allows it to turn. I didn't try it yet but it looks like it would work.
Why doesn't anyone show how to get the string through the tiny hole in the suction cup? The string is actually 3 strings wound together and mine came frayed at both ends. You can't just thread it through the hole. Maybe a small drill bit to push it through?
Every time I try to reinstall a new lightbulb with a similar product, I can’t remove the installer which ends up hanging down from the ceiling until my husband comes home and removes it. When I try, it wants to take the entire fixture out of the ceiling and live it hanging from its wires. So frustrated as I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong!
BEWARE... don't assume the can is secured to the cieling. I was recently replacing floods in the LR and when I tried to pull spring grabber off, the ENTIRE CAN started coming with it, bulb and all.
I tried the suction tool and the old bulb came off. Fortunately it didn’t hit me in the head. My advise is to be careful that that bulb doesn’t fall on you and cut you fatally. It could be the last thing you ever do.
The metal winged set screw strips the plastic threads on the attachment, so the attachment loosens itself from the pole when you try to loosen a bulb. That leaves you with the bulb and attachment in the fixture. Cheap. It DOES NOT have the screw alignment hole. Goes in the US as Bayco, and is yellow. DO NOT BUY.
I explain why that happens at 2:50 . It happens because people use the set screw improperly. The set screw is desgined to fit into the matching hole. When used that way, it does not have to be overly tightened. Many people who strip the set screw are attempting to tighten it directly against the pole rather than into the set hole, which results in screwing it too tightly and stripping it. If you bought a different unit that doesn't have the hole, you can fix that by removeing the set screw, and use the set screw hole as a guide to drilling your own set hole. But if you buy the same unit in the video, this will not be a problem.
I was surprised at the effectiveness of this tool. This was a good buy!
What about bayonet lightbulbs?
I just ordered one of those. You are a great teacher. You make me happy with my purchase. Thank you so much for the instructions class❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊

Great video! Exactly the information I was looking for with clear format and excellent presentation. SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks Scott! And welcome!
I was struggling trying to figure out why mine stopped working! Thanks so much for your clear video to help me troubleshoot!
This would come in handy! I have 10’ ceilings in my living room!
I agree! I know I’ll use it a lot.

Thank you! Great instructions. Now, how do you
change light bulbs that are encased and almost totally flat on the
ceiling?
Haha! Ya got me! I guess we can’t sell the ladder just yet! But at least this cuts back on it
I need one!!!!. Any day now that top of the stairwell light will go out.
The link is just above! I’m glad I got it. I was pleasantly surprised
The suction cup worked good for my old light bulbs, but the new ones I bought are kind of plastic like and the suction cup won't stick ☹️
Is there a pole that works with bulbs on a chandelier facing up ?
Not in this kit.
Cheers Mark
Thanks for your post.
I don't have screw on lights my lights have 2 pins and have to push to get it down is there a version for the lights I have

Sorry, I can't. Just a ladder!
It would require a different kit if there is one
Would one of those work on a light that hangs over the railing of your stairs?
Any suggestions on what to do if the bulb is stuck?

What about high mounted lamps that are horizontal in a hooded fixture over a stairwell? I cannot figure out a way to change these.
Also works well to pick figs from my tall fig tree😅

The solution is to use the suction cup adapter, and that won’t happen

I bought a yellow one and it's a pos. It's too big for all of the flood bulbs I've tried and isn't worth the plastic it was made with

You did not show any U bulbs!
I didn’t have any. I suspect this wouldn’t be helpful on those.
My bulb is at an odd angle, I can’t get directly underneath. Between stairs and floor beneath. I want to punch the builder and designer of the home.
Oh that does sound annoying!
I think I would add caution to this operation and wear goggles. Should a bulb break while looking upwards, that could be painful.
