A big shout out to Nick and his crew for bringing us all these lovely Messe vids.
Thanks you very much for the effort and time you guys put into this event.
I really enjoyed them all, much appreciated as always.
Can't wait for your Superbooth '17 vids :)
As one of the ~30 people who bought a Drumit Five, I'm confused - is the Drumit Three a less capable version of the Drumit Five? But if so, why is it larger? And also, the Drumit Five already works with non 2Box kits - I play my Roland kit with one every day. Also who needs flanger/delay on a drum - why can't they give us reverb/filter/something useful?! Very perplexing.... we waited years to hear of anything new from the 2Box guys and then when they finally speak up what they seem to be saying is not of that much interest/excitement…
Sounds great, I need one of these.
So... It's either a Drumit Three, ATV AD5, OR (for an extra grand) Pearl Mimic Pro. I have been underwhelmed by previous 2Box modules, but IF the sounds are better, they have adjustable paramenters (THE problem with AD5) AND downloading my samples works smoothly as described, 2Box could be the winner for me.
Geoffrey Merrifield AD5 also had terrible machine gunning issues. Of course there lack of editing it's a drawback as well
the kick cracked me up
Believe me, in terms of sound this module (like it's 'big brother' drumitFive ) blows away all big players and most of niche players.
It's just one of those EQ-ed, compressed kicks for some reason was selected, perhaps there in live situation it sounded better than in recording, but in module there are plenty of perfectly sounding natural kicks plus you can put in your own recorded samples or one from your favorite VST instrument.
This might be a game changer
Well done for making it black.
It's a shame they missed the chance for the what seems like the only demo of this module to be as good as it could be by 1. Dialling up just one kit with the one of the worst kicks in their library (IMHO) 2. setting the audio on the camera too hot so there was clipping on hihat and 3. Having it demo'd by not a particularly great player. A minor point decent player could have shown better the hihat function with the Roland VH13 (or 12 if that is what it is) and possibly the 3 zone snare pad function.
So after 5 year or more since the Drumit 5 they release basically the same module (with small improvements) with only 4GB? Don't get me wrong, the Drumit 5 was awesome for that time and it's still nice, but launch this new version with ridiculous 4GB in now days is so out of date!
Agree fully. Memory costs nothing nowadays, rethink please
Does 2box have a product for sale? Nobody appears to have a stock. Their website looks like it hasn't been updated in some time.
Lol that kick choice of his is disastrous for this show case. The man doesn't like low frequencies, I see.
When is this thing going to be available? I am leaning towards this over the ATV AD5.
So did anyone notice a slight delay on the ride cymbal there?
And yeah, what's up with the kick, it had no balls.
Can you trigger via midi?
'a flanger is in there also' -
SIGN ME UP FOR ONE IMMEDIATELY SIR!
i have a 5 and the 2box can sound so much better than the demo here so dont go on this sound set and playing .
Exactly, this sound is recorded with a camera and the sound source it picks up are the monitors they have in that croweded, loud area. That's why the kick sounds so awful, the crappy camera microphone that's made to pick up voice and not drums can't handla the low bass tones.
Skip to 5:07, they recorded directly out of the module and even say it. Problem was the signals coming out were too hot, especially the kick, resulting in that horrible clipping sound. I'm sure the kit sounds fine, blame the person who forgot to soundcheck it first.
He talks like he’s practicing a kids play.
Is it just my ears or did that not sound that great at all?
What is that kick drum? It sound absolutely terrible
Its the Lars Ulrich signature series 1988 bass drum ;)
Yeah I agree. I have the drumit5 and believe me, they could have choses 200 different kicks from their library instead of this one and it would have been better,
No you don't have the best drum module there is not even close. The Pearl mimic Pro is absolute the best sounding module that is right now 💯🥁
Actually, Drumit 5 has 24-bit converters, round-robin triggering, and you can load kits from Steven Slate, Superior Drummer 3, BFD, or Addictive Drums. Plus it is $500 cheaper. The end.
The majority of samples after loading them into the 2box sounds nothing like the original. Still a pretty good module for the price, I do wish the 3 had more upgrades. Other then being compatible with other pads it seems like a down grade form the the 5
That kick is stupid
That demo really did not impress.....
No reverb, no sale.
I know what you mean, verb eq and compression are the making and breaking of decent sound. However, a lot of the stock library sounds have verb built in. But it's not the same as dialling up a sound and thinking, "oh this would sound awesome with some verb on it!"
A mate of mine has the drumit5 and routes the FX out to an ouput into an external effect unit and back into the module via the line in, works for him and he has different verbs on different kits which change with midi. Still, it does mean a bit of messing about with cables and a rack.
PLEASE!!!! Forget about that HOOORRIBLE orange color!! that is dropping your sales!!.. Put some blue, some gray, some white... but not a bit of orange!, and make a better box design! (forget about that kickdrum you used here!)
My god... crappy demo-drummer. What is bengt thinking?? Why use Roland pads they´re expensive as hell. Instead adapt 2box drumit pads for instance mapex Hardware. Present HW is to flimsy, but the pads are good.
This is a really mediocre drummer..
