I don't understand why people keep bringing this up, even if vegito wasn't retconned, they would've defused him by the end of the arc anyway. Vegito would've still lost to Zamasu because he'd just become the universe and kill everyone.
Yeah I agree on Temporary Vegito being the worst thing Super did to DB. They didn't need to do anything else other than say that Potara can be canceled out by magic for it to make sense not only for Vegito to defuse inside Buu, but also for the Dragonballs to do it and even for Merged Zamasu to beat Vegito. Now Vegito has pretty much nothing separating him from Gogeta, which IMO makes him flat out inferior.

The ones I think are the worst are Minus, and the S cell "tingly back" ease that you can go Super Saiyan. Super Saiyan shouldn't be reduced in such a silly manner and it shouldn't have been so easy for the Universe 6 Saiyans to reach not only Super Saiyan, but even the levels beyond. Oh God, then there was Frieza not ever training before and having the ability to surpass ridiculous amounts of power scaling in a couple of months. AND Beerus being around to TELL Frieza to destroy the Saiyans, instead of it being Frieza who did it because he was afraid of the Saiyans' growing power. Beerus' involvement ruins the whole dynamic going on in the Frieza saga. Basically, Minus and Super are the worst retcons. By far.
I disagree about remaking Dragon Ball and DBZ. I prefer the retro look of the series and I don't like the look of modern Dragon Ball (as seen in Super except for a few key moments when the animators are actually trying). Also, you gotta remember, Kai was released in 2009, long before Super and even Battle of Gods were even a concept. So, I disagree with it being remade to better accommodate the retcons and inconsistencies present in Super because it's adapting the content of the original manga. Too bad Toriyama can't keep his own facts straight.

Potara retcon by far got under my skin the most. There was almost no need to put a timer on it. How would they split up? The multiple magic tricks they have like Buu, possibly Whis, and especially the Dragon Balls as they explicitly did that with the Kais earlier in the series. Trunks should have had the win? Well maybe if they didn't push the power of the villians to a point where Trunks (understandably) couldn't hope to reach within a reasonable amount of time. And on top of all that, considering how quickly Vegito timed out on top of the nature of the writing in the show nowadays, Potara fusions (and likely by the extension the Fusion Dance) are completely worthless outside of getting one or two attacks in. Because they gotta nerf EVERY SINGLE TECHNIQUE the main characters have in order to not have to actually think of genuinely interesting ways for weaker characters to do something to the main cast.. I MEAN to make things fair. Yeah that's what I meant... But all joking aside and getting onto my highest of soap boxes, it's stuff like this that really make me wish that they officially reboot the series. Because they're basically rewriting all the rules anyway. Why not just wipe the slate clean so you don't annoy the people who keep tabs on stuff like this (like normal people who keep the rules of how something works at the back of their head would do) and so that you can't get called out for doing this that or this in the new incarnation because that's how it's established to be in that iteration? It'd be so easy since it's clear that the way the series has progressed in it's entirety has screwed up any semblance of balance, and therefore potential tension in matchups, due to how its progressed. It's understandable. This show is old as molasses and has tried to stick to one continuity throughout all of it. It honestly should have been expected that something like this would happen. But at the exact same time they're barely doing anything to fix it and if anything have almost actively made it worse. (Mostly due to Toei's money grubbing tendencies on the brand exacerbating the issues by essentially giving the team zero time to iron out these problems and just get the episodes out there regardless of quality) That's why I think they need hit a redo button. If they don't want to make the effort to fix the problems they're making, they might as well just jump to a different ship, start fresh, and then barely anyone will care because it's a new set of base rules being "created" and not constantly changed every two seconds like a ball of Playdoh. And if you think that'd be a risk as it'd potentially alienate a portion of the audience, you'd be correct. But at the same time... IT'S DRAGON BALL! And is Super Dragon Ball Heroes is anything to go off of at this point anything with the words "Dragon Ball" on it will have enough recognition to make some sort of profit anyway regardless of any risk. So hopefully for the sake of the fandom's sanity they consider rebooting the series one day. And this is the last thing I'm gonna talk about I swear. Because I think Dragon Ball's wide spread appeal yet inconsistent internal rules is part of the reason the fandom can be so toxic. I do think they basically retconned ssg base goku. But if they were give an decent explanation as to why he doesn't seem as powerful as he's supposed to with ssg in base, they could just say his ssg power slowly drained away overtime.
NinjaX SSB ssjg was never in his base form. His Ssj was made as strong as ssjg, and it's a multiplier so all of his other forms followed the same way. Base form was 50x weaker, Ssj 2 was 2x stronger, etc. They put other characters at his level so he and Vegeta would have a challenge.
me personally i think the show has a FEW retcons. but i think what we have to realize thats worse than retcons is the amount of wasted potential the series has. many interesting plots and stories and characters and character designs have been thrown to the wayside. like to me, i think dabura THE KING OF FUCKING DEMONS should be a sort of end of the series villains. someone who is strong in a sense of like what omega shenron was. he is basically the king of demons which obviously is hell and therefore i think that he could be a great final villain for the series to end with, especially if SUPER isnt coming back. i think that it would have been a great idea for the winners of the tournament to have begged shenron to maybe combine all the universe as well on top of bringing everyone back. i think that they should have had the sayains make their own wish to UNDO their ability to transform. maybe they can come to the realization that they dont like having to rely on TRANSFORMATIONS. maybe they just want to get stronger as they are and just learn TECHNIQUES instead of being able to transform. i think that they wasted a future trunks and younger trunks storyline. i think they wasted a namekian storyline. i think they wasted the opportunity to even involve some movie characters and villains and make something cohesive so that it could fit in the story. most of the villains after buu, in the movie could be introduced into super. like tapion and then we could see him give trunks his sword. janemba etc so so much wasted opportunity thats all i have to say
Worst Retcon? Saiyans get constantly stronger as they fight/The whole Super Saiyan Midichlorian shit. Both absolutely shit on what was built up in Z (pre-Buu arc). I think they took Zenkai's description too literally. Goku and Vegeta and the U6 Saiyans (and I suppose Gohan and Trunks to a degree) all kept getting random unholy powerups throughout mainly the ToP. The legendary transformation that was meant to be rewarded through immense struggle, reduced to fucking DNA and peacefulness. Yeah. Real peaceful Goku was when he first went SSJ. They actually turned the lore into a fucking joke. And its clearly a big ass cash crab when Gohan can get back to full strength in a couple days of training when previously he was one shot by fucking FIRST FORM FRIEZA. AND THEN THEY DIDNT GIVE HIM ANYTHING ELSE. If you're gonna bullshit the story at least see it through. Gohan legit didn't gain shit except maybe some pride back.

Biggest retcon was Gohan going back to his old bs after ToP.
I do think they basically retconned ssg base goku. But if they were give an decent explanation as to why he doesn't seem as powerful as he's supposed to with ssg in base, they could just say his ssg power slowly drained away overtime.
NinjaX SSB ssjg was never in his base form. His Ssj was made as strong as ssjg, and it's a multiplier so all of his other forms followed the same way. Base form was 50x weaker, Ssj 2 was 2x stronger, etc. They put other characters at his level so he and Vegeta would have a challenge.

me personally i think the show has a FEW retcons. but i think what we have to realize thats worse than retcons is the amount of wasted potential the series has. many interesting plots and stories and characters and character designs have been thrown to the wayside. like to me, i think dabura THE KING OF FUCKING DEMONS should be a sort of end of the series villains. someone who is strong in a sense of like what omega shenron was. he is basically the king of demons which obviously is hell and therefore i think that he could be a great final villain for the series to end with, especially if SUPER isnt coming back. i think that it would have been a great idea for the winners of the tournament to have begged shenron to maybe combine all the universe as well on top of bringing everyone back. i think that they should have had the sayains make their own wish to UNDO their ability to transform. maybe they can come to the realization that they dont like having to rely on TRANSFORMATIONS. maybe they just want to get stronger as they are and just learn TECHNIQUES instead of being able to transform. i think that they wasted a future trunks and younger trunks storyline. i think they wasted a namekian storyline. i think they wasted the opportunity to even involve some movie characters and villains and make something cohesive so that it could fit in the story. most of the villains after buu, in the movie could be introduced into super. like tapion and then we could see him give trunks his sword. janemba etc so so much wasted opportunity thats all i have to say

Saiyans get constantly stronger as they fight/The whole Super Saiyan Midichlorian shit.
Both absolutely shit on what was built up in Z (pre-Buu arc). I think they took Zenkai's description too literally. Goku and Vegeta and the U6 Saiyans (and I suppose Gohan and Trunks to a degree) all kept getting random unholy powerups throughout mainly the ToP. The legendary transformation that was meant to be rewarded through immense struggle, reduced to fucking DNA and peacefulness. Yeah. Real peaceful Goku was when he first went SSJ. They actually turned the lore into a fucking joke. And its clearly a big ass cash crab when Gohan can get back to full strength in a couple days of training when previously he was one shot by fucking FIRST FORM FRIEZA. AND THEN THEY DIDNT GIVE HIM ANYTHING ELSE. If you're gonna bullshit the story at least see it through. Gohan legit didn't gain shit except maybe some pride back.
Btw Tagoma was Buu saga ultimate Gohan level and gohan as a super Saiyan one shot him so i mean he did get stronger.

king emfj3201 I know that 17 actually hurt Jiren and destroy some of his proud trooper suit something Frieza couldn’t do. Also he was able to tank some of Jirens attack’s most notably the one where he fake killed himself. That same attack would have killed or eliminated Frieza for sure.
