I was too young to remember the Beatles when they hit America, but I remember these guys a year later. The dance probably caught my eye. Freddie must have been quite athletic, he got up pretty high on his leaps. Great voice too. They were destined not to last, but they are remembered.

I must give Freddie Garrity & the Dreamers their due - They found a way to set themselves apart from the huge pack of British Invasion groups (which including so many other talented types) in such a way that was provided good music (albeit, some novelty songs) and a darn good entertaining time...

Freddie and The Dreamers were musicians but they were also PERFORMERS. Whether or not you're entertained by it, there is a definite comedic commitment in their presentation. They didn't dabble.

Freddie Garrity never got the recognition he deserved. Countless Pantomimes and Shows, all over the Country, entertaining kids and adults with his Zany Humour, but he could sing as well. Now,they give honours to Nobodies,on a whim.

Very under-rated group with a sizeable discography, some of it on Spotify. Saw the original (real) line-up live in a summer season, probably Gt Yarmouth, early 1970s, I don't remember exactly. Back then you could see everybody on seaside piers, at pocket-money prices. No rip-off tickets in those days. This was pretty much their act, and Freddie was tiny but massive on stage. The group were big for a couple of years and sold albums in the US as well as UK. Freddie kept performing till 2001. "I'm Telling You Now" is a 1963 song by Freddie Garrity and Mitch Murray, though the group recorded/played covers and a lot of their releases were on the Columbia label.

They had 5 top 5 hits and a top 5 album in the space of 2 year's and none of Thier songs were comedy record's.
They did a couple on their albums and released those as singles but they didn't get anywhere in the chart's.

"Gimme Some Lovin" was definitely a direct attack on Hermans Hermits who was in the same musical bracket as Freddie during the British Invasion. Peter acts like a cute little boy onstage when singing "Mrs Brown" and a few others. It looks as though Freddie pretends to be Peter, can't hold back being Freddiness inside (the jumps), and then the band gives up on him. LOL
