Check dxomark review, according to them p50 has currently best graded cameras. Really impressive. Phones are becoming multi tools , impossible to find one best in all but have to check what you care about and buy accordingly. If camera or battery charging speed, p50 is currently best choice.
If you buy a phone solely based on the camera, then you should consider just getting a pocketable one inch sensor camera with a far better zoom range than any phone out there.

I've played with this phone in the store. It's beautiful! If it had Google services, I would not have even thought of buying from other brands. My Huawei Mate 20X which I bought 3 years ago have features that still surpasses some phones released today. By definition, it's still a great phone. That's just how good Huawei phones are 😔
Photos taken from the three lenses look like they were taken on a single lens. That's quite impressive. Usually when you shift with other lens, the image processing is different thus you'll get different color temperature, hue, color processing etc. This one, they all look the same

My huawei y9 2019 has been with me for 7 years, it also fell in the water but after 1 day, it is okay again. fell on the floor several times. For me huawei phone is the best among all mobile phones. The camera is nice and clear, even the audio neto is clear and sounds good. The storage capacity is also good, even though I have downloaded many apps, the storage is still not full. It's also great to use for playing games like mobile legends, no lag and good performance. I have tried many phone brands such as samsung, vivo, O+, apple (the old model 4s), realme, nokia (the touch screen), and the other brands, but this is the one I liked the most and I can say the huawei is really the best when it comes to performance, camera, photo quality, fast charging, sounds, and etc.. if I'm lucky enough to buy a phone again, I'll still choose huawei and I hope it's the huawei p50 pro.

I got exhausted by the constant positive comments on the camera. It really sucks that the Huawei is left out of the Android ecosystem because they have great phones (excl. the battery of this phone).
Agree but come on this phone is extremely pricy. Most people would probably rather have iPhone or Samsung with that price than Huawei. At least sell this wonderful camera phone at a reasonable price
I love HUAWEI cp due to their High quality of cameras. Since I buy Huawei P20 Pro in 2017 then in 2019 I upgraded it to Huawei P30 Pro and now that I know that there's P50 Pro I wish I could have it.
You forgot to mention that having a Huawei phone is now like wearing a badge of showing mid-finger to US's imperialism and bullying, which other flagship phones don't offer. I have to say it is a very unique feature!
Took my first profesional shot with Huawei P50pro and I do miss some Google apps like Lightroom mobile app and Nasa app. After getting this phone this week those Dual matrix cameras look amaz8ng. I'm going to test my dslr against Huawei p50pro as I think p50pro will come top but my dslr still produce Excellant results! Just love how camera makes phone look profesional and and you can use tiktok app plus screen looks clear and crisp. Google is big deal and Huawei knows it. Glad I've got this phone now!

I had the Mate 20 Pro and it was the best phone I ever had. I kept it for three and a half years before needing to upgrade and with no 5g and no google services…huawei are doomed. There is no way back for huawei in the phone market outside of china.
I got a P30 Pro a few years back. I was Samsung only phones for years and years. I then discovered LG phones for a while which were so much better than the Samsungs in every way. Then a few years ago I gave Huawei a try. They're fantastic. I'd never go back. I've had zero slow down after using the phone for a few years. I've no reason to buy a new one it's so damn good. The camera is brilliant. Screen is beautiful and it's took some really big hits too during DH MTB. Of course mine works with Google integration. The newer Huaweis not working with Google properly built in is a huge problem 😞
I think this phone together with the P50 Pocket, are aimed at Huawei Fans/Enthusiasts. The whole "No Google Services" fiasco kinda reminds me of the Windows Phone era. But since Harmony OS is based on Android, there's always a workaround to get the apps you need.
Whilst this is true for many apps, ‘always’ is a bit of a stretch as there is no way to make the experience comparable to a phone with Android services in every sense.

Last I heard you could no longer install it on new devices but this may have changed, and it certainly wasn’t a 5 minute job when I did it on the P40 Pro. It’s a constant battle to do so, and there’s always the risk that it will stop working. And for what? Just to have a Huawei running like every other Samsung or Xiaomi? Why would I *not* want a device that just works? I have a life to lead and things to do. Their devices aren’t *so* great that it’s worth the effort and hassle IMHO, and even with GMS installed I still ran into app issues and there’s still no option for Google Pay. If you like Huawei devices enough to accept these compromises then that’s great, and I’m not knocking Huawei as I like their products, but I’m personally going to wait and hope that they get approved again someday. It’s not as if no other manufacturers are making good phones and it’s not as if these Huaweis are cheap enough to make it worth my while (at the moment). This device is still very expensive.

Huawei was always my favorite brand. And the mate 20 pro my favorite phone. Now I'm happy with my Galaxy S21: ultra. But without those sanctions I still would have got a Huawei phone. But there is still hope because the Honor Magic pro 50 promises a lot with Google services 🙏

I'm using for 4 years huawei 20 lite and it still is the best phone I had. I'm also using the mate 20 Pro tablet. I'm now changing to 50 Pro and I hope I'll be able to use my Google apps, because I'm a google service user.
I think that this review was not complete as there was no sample of video stabilization and photos from ultrawide camera were round. I do agree with GSMArena but I think there is alot more about camera that 8s missing in this video.

I had this phone and honestly would not recommend it. Its because of the battery and charging. It drains faster than the p40 pro and the charging speed is slower(somehow?) although it has a higher wattage brick. The camera is still the best but not on another level like the p40 series. And the price is not very competitive.
Sideloading google apps is easy. What's difficult are those payment and banking apps. They don't usually work. If you only use your phone for media consumption, gaming, photography, then this phone is good but if you casually use your phone for money, nah
my Honor 8 had a b/w camera that i loved. I think they dropped the sensor already in the p60 pro. I hope to see a 1 inch b/w sensor on smartphone one day.

I have the P50 Pro and have used its main camera for webpage advertising (it's that good!!), that is since it's a photographer's cell phone. You can use Google apps on Gspace which will make Google thinks it's an earlier phone before they banned the newer phones. I am using a list of apps that I should not be able to, but they work fine... So far very happy!
This is one of the phones I was most excited about. Sadly, all that excitement went down the drain as I'm really disappointed with the P50 Pro. Nope, it's not because of the no-google thing, and also not because of 4G only, but really because of that abhorrent battery endurance. I wonder what happened. The Kirin 9K version of this phone could nearly go head to head against the IPhone 13PM in terms of battery life but it looks like the Snapdragon Triple 8 version has no chance of ever hoping to compete against it, and it's a shame that they couldn't bring the Kirin 9K version to the global launch. Also, how come charging speed is slower? The P40 Pro with its 40w Supercharger could get from 0% to 80 in 30 minutes. All of a sudden a more powerful 66w charging brick gets to only 73% in 30 minutes?!? Other than that, it's pretty much a typical flagship. Nothing special, really. It's sad that Huawei's cameras are no longer way ahead of the competition. You can pick pretty much any top 2021 Flagship and you'd get the same results. I honestly don't see much of a reason to buy this one.
Still loving my Mate 20 Pro and was looking forward to this model but likewise, dissapointed too. Price is too high and some features are missing. And battery life and charging too. My Mate 20 Pro has 45W charger and it charges from 0 to 70% in 30 minutes. And that's a model from 2018. Now is 2022.
@@Shagrath06 agreed, I also own a mate 20 pro although I'm kind of traumatized now wd curved screens as the lower left portion of my screen is defective and unresponsive. I will be switching to a non curved screen on my next phone purchase. Also, this screen tends to glitch and cause white flashes everytime I on with the power button. I know this needs an lcd replacement but knowing the cost of repair, I'd rather buy a new phone.
I had a good hands on.....for me, the 2 biggest faults - 1. It doesn't transition smoothly between lenses 2. Still has loads of jitters when panning on 60FPS (at least in the viewfinder) and it has been so since the P30 pro I owned. considering the pricing, I don't know what their strategy worldwide is.
In another review the battery is only 25minutes worse than s21 ultra which has 5000mah. I think GSM arena's test app is broken. Even users with the phone say that it has same life as p40 pro

It takes me less than 5 minutes to install GMS. But if you want something that just works, this is not for you.

GSM arena's has some problems with the app that test battery life. It's not bad at all as they claim.

This is one of the phones I was most excited about.
Sadly, all that excitement went down the drain as I'm really disappointed with the P50 Pro. Nope, it's not because of the no-google thing, and also not because of 4G only, but really because of that abhorrent battery endurance. I wonder what happened. The Kirin 9K version of this phone could nearly go head to head against the IPhone 13PM in terms of battery life but it looks like the Snapdragon Triple 8 version has no chance of ever hoping to compete against it, and it's a shame that they couldn't bring the Kirin 9K version to the global launch. Also, how come charging speed is slower? The P40 Pro with its 40w Supercharger could get from 0% to 80 in 30 minutes. All of a sudden a more powerful 66w charging brick gets to only 73% in 30 minutes?!? Other than that, it's pretty much a typical flagship. Nothing special, really. It's sad that Huawei's cameras are no longer way ahead of the competition. You can pick pretty much any top 2021 Flagship and you'd get the same results. I honestly don't see much of a reason to buy this one.
Still loving my Mate 20 Pro and was looking forward to this model but likewise, dissapointed too. Price is too high and some features are missing. And battery life and charging too. My Mate 20 Pro has 45W charger and it charges from 0 to 70% in 30 minutes. And that's a model from 2018. Now is 2022.
@@Shagrath06 agreed, I also own a mate 20 pro although I'm kind of traumatized now wd curved screens as the lower left portion of my screen is defective and unresponsive. I will be switching to a non curved screen on my next phone purchase. Also, this screen tends to glitch and cause white flashes everytime I on with the power button. I know this needs an lcd replacement but knowing the cost of repair, I'd rather buy a new phone.
I had a good hands on.....for me, the 2 biggest faults -
1. It doesn't transition smoothly between lenses
2. Still has loads of jitters when panning on 60FPS (at least in the viewfinder) and it has been so since the P30 pro I owned.
considering the pricing, I don't know what their strategy worldwide is.
Don't forget its exorbitant price.
In another review the battery is only 25minutes worse than s21 ultra which has 5000mah. I think GSM arena's test app is broken. Even users with the phone say that it has same life as p40 pro

The main camera sensor is Omnivision OV50A

May I ask if the P50 Pro still retain the useful "Light Painting" modes in their camera that were previously avail on the P40 & P30 Pro?
The light painting option is not available on the global version, only the China version.
