I have a loft where I used to have a ton of clothes in storage. Sessonal, wrong sizes or styles. After I lost a lot of weight, from 114 kg to 55 kg, I decided to have only clothes that fit me and that I feel good in. I also kon-maried my home.
Now I have a very small wardrobe. I switch a few dresses and outerwear between seasons. Nothing else. No more clothes in the loft. All clothes fit in my flat without any problems.
It feels so good to lose weight and declutter big clothes I never miss them I just say goodbye 😂
Glad I'm not the only one that swaps clothes over.
Great job! Loved the running commentary of your thinking & decision process. 🔲I keep a small wardrobe. Jeans, shorts, tees, dress slacks, blouses, jackets. I find it enough and easier to dress. I’m in SE Texas. We don’t get very much cold weather. My winter wardrobe is a pair of crew socks, short boots, warmer sleepwear, 2 long sleeve shirts, a sweater, all weather coat, gloves, cap. In 2014 - I began doing an annual wardrobe decluttering and updating of my inventory. (I’m a numbers geek. I count everything just for grins.) 🔲I have a swim suit like yours. So much more comfortable and confident. I can enjoy myself swimming instead of fidgeting with the suit. 🔲Sonoma is a Kohl’s brand. JCPenneys is St. John’s Bay, Worthington, Alfred Dunner. I bought a lot of Alfred Dunner for my Mom. 🔲I bought my Joy Mangano beige velvet hangers from QVC probably 20 years ago. I thought I’d made an impulsive big mistake. Left them in the box under my bed and really forgot about them until 2013. That’s when I did my first round of decluttering my messy, packed closet. I started using them then. 🔲My mother got a hole in her sneakers. She painted a flower around the hole. 😁🔲Don’t forget to shop for the wedding! And, a new scarf.

I go through my closet and dresser twice a year and it always feels good to delete items- clothing, underwear and bras, jewelry, etc. And you mentioned Marden’s! For this born and raised in Maine transplant to Colorado for 28 years, that name made me giddy! 😅 I remember when Paul Le Page managed Marden’s and how it became more organized, kind of! Marden’s was my late mother’s favorite place to shop for everything but especially her dinnerware, she was obsessive about dinnerware sets. I so enjoy your posts.

The velvet hangers are also not taking that much space. They are more flat.
And what I also like about them over the plastic hangers..... the plastic ones often wear out, when I have had pants and such on them. They got realy wonky over time and then stuff is always slipping around and over them even more.

I too have been doing the clothes switch out this week but with admittedly more clothes. I tried on all of my fall/winter clothing and put to the side anything that did not look good or did not make me feel confident and happy. I had the added issue of knowing I will be going into the office to work occasionally after 3 years of working from home. I wanted to make sure I had some grab and go outfits ready for the mornings I would be heading out the door. I want you to know I really enjoy your videos because you are always moving forward but in a calm and friendly way that is inspirational without pressure.
❤ In the last video, you asked our opinion on vlogging. Today I started thinking maybe we think about different things? If vlogging is sitting down just talking, I still prefer the normal type of videos. If it is folowing your day with a camera while you do stuff like the cooking you din, I love it. 😊

You could also wear it with any solid color T-shirt and/or a black sweater.
I love that you have a personal stash of paper towels! (I might need to hide a roll or 2, too, that's a good idea)

I also have a small closet and change my clothes out for the seasons. I have also decluttered so much that I no longer need to store off season clothes in the attic! Each season I have about six outfits I wear constantly and then just some special occasion pieces. Love having such a simplified wardrobe. It was so nice to have a Friday night video from you !💕

Your closet reminds me of Mary Poppins carpetbag. It looks so small and you keep pulling stuff out. I didn’t have any cute pajamas and always wore raggedy too big mismatched pajamas. Had to go to the hospital in an ambulance looking like a bag lady. Got some cute stuff as soon as I got out of the hospital

Plastic hangers will break and fly in your face. I have them, plus those plastic triangles, that you put on the hangers. Enjoyed your videos.
As I watch this it is a day off work for me as I try to catch up on things like organize my Optavia fueling for the days I work and plan Lean and Greens and Green meals, make some phone calls. And much more

Wow, that's a very minimal wardrobe and something I'd like to strive for... so many dilemmas though! I love the pretty patterns and cuts of polyester tops but they're no good in the summer. I've been thinking that I need more natural fabrics in solid colours so it won't be so obvious when I'm minimal and wear them a lot. Even though you're getting into the graphic Ts and sweatshirts, I'm thinking about phasing those out of my closet in favour of solid ones too. I just hate shopping so much that I end up keeping most of what I have, even pants that are hard to do up.
Maybe keep some black hangers for your upcoming dress buy and some other new clothes that fit.

Wow, you have so much nice clothes now. I´m glad for you that you are finally happy in your skin. I need to declutter my closet as well bus I never find something new so I keep the old (and shabby) stuff. I invested in all wood hangers when I moved into my house. I feel like you should invest in real tiles. So it´s done once and forever. Have a nice weekend!

You did not get rid of too much. Get you some sweaters and sweatshirts. Also, yes I do. I have been changing over to the felt hangers as well and what I do is as I wear something I get rid of the plastic hanger and when i wash it and put it away I put it on the felt hanger. This way I know what I have not worn at all and I need to reaccess whether I want to keep it in my closet. It's crazy when you see how many plastic hangers you have in there that you have never worn.

I don't change my clothes over every season. I wear the same things year round. (I don't live in a super cold climate like you though so I don't need winter coats etc). I do need to declutter though. I always feel inspired after watching your videos. I laughed at the end when Leo jumped up on the bed head. You said "Leo, what are you doing?" and I replied "Making bad decisions" for him haha. He's so cute.
Oh and I also love graphic tshirts and jumpers (sweatshirts). They're lovely and cosy. I always wear tshirts under my jumpers though - I feel hot if I don't, which is weird, but true haha. I just got a new graphic tshirt that says "Detroit" I got it because my grandma grew up in Detroit. :)

I like the "surprise" videos, so keep them coming when you can. As far as giving your husband the black hangers - you want to keep a few for the new dress and few new shirts or sweaters you need for fall going into winter.
I really like to have matching hangers too. I did it a few years ago and it just made my closet look so much more organized. I also declutter clothing in the Spring and Fall. I just pulled out my fall blouses and put away my summer tops as I have a small closet as well. Another great video Karen!!
Taking a break from my sewing (with my cat sleeping in my lap lol) and I totally understand with the desire to film and post more videos but life keeps throwing curve balls. 🤦🏼♀️I put it into the Lord's hands after my son reminded me to "post and move on". Such wise advice that kept me from being consumed with perfectionism. If I can do a short and thats all for the week, that's better than nothing. If I do several videos at once I just post them. 😊Big hugs and bravo on the declutter!!!❤❤❤

Great job! Your closet looks so nice. I go through my closet twice a year. There are usually a few items to discard or donate. I also find it helpful to make a list of needs for the upcoming season. Have a great weekend!❤

I took care of folding yesterday so today you were my dishwashing buddy 🤣😂 Sorry you've been having computer issues. I know it must be so frustrating. I went through my closet this past week, too. Like you, I do this twice a year and then order whatever is missing to fill in the holes.
I need to do this but multiply your bundles by 10...yikes...too many clothes. Love you

Karen, I think it’s great that you carefully decluttered the clothing that no longer fitted you or you didn’t feel comfortable in. Nice that you and Robin will have all matching hangers too. I also need to sort through my clothing again. I decluttered quite a few items last year (mainly jeans that no longer fitted and formal dresses I no longer need) so I doubt there will be much to go this year.

It was nice catching up with you while working on my planner early this morning Karen! Bummer about the iMovie software. I remember I had a problem with that one time, I believe I had to delete most of all the saved projects, updated the software, and it began to work. I think I even had to delete the software and reload it. Anyway, I saved the whole library onto a external drive first. I'm learning Adobe Premiere Pro. It's a beast of a software to learn.
Yes! I did end up deleting, then updating, reloading. Did you ever try Final Cut Pro? I'm worried that since it is an Apple Product I'll have similar issues eventually!

Even with everything you decluttered you have way more clothes than I do. I hate shopping. I only go when I’m desperate. I don’t have to change out the seasons though. I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I got rid of so many clothes when I retired- due to Lupus-and then because of Lupus I lost 40 pounds due to attacks - I decluttered almost all - I keep one size up pants in case I have to take steroids which can cause weight gain but it’s very freeing- I have to declutter purses but that is my addiction since I was a teen😂

Here in Texas we are in the between month of summer and fall. Still wearing shorts and flip flops most days! It will be a month before I switch seasonal clothes. But all seasons are on a single 5 foot closet rod. Just a matter of changing position on the rod!

My husband and kids get plastic hangers because they pull their clothes off and if you pull on the velvet they break at the top. Although with these slimmer plastic tubular hangers, they also snap. 🤷♀️

I just bought my favorite 3 pair of winter slippers and I bought a second pair of each so I put the new pairs away and I have the other pairs that I can wear because I know I want to always save some for GOOD. Just in case I'm invited somewhere or I need to go somewhere with my new slippers like a weekend getaway with friends even though it never happens😂😂😂

I have never felt confident in a traditional bathing suit. Even when I was fit and only weighed 104 pounds.
I am thankful for my age because it helps me to just wear what I feel most comfortable in. When I was younger, I was always trying to *be* what I saw, you know? 🤷🏻♀️
Everything I ever bought from Kohl’s looked okay until I washed it. Bad fabric and poor construction (and not that inexpensive) so I would end up donating them. I have found that investing in a few high quality basic pieces is less expensive in the long run and look so much better. And don’t put nice clothes in the dryer for any amount of time. The white jean jacket was one of your cutest items. Would look great over any top or dress. Sorry, but the hole on the shoulders of tops is not attractive on anyone. Keep up the good work, Karen. You’re such a sweetheart!
