Beautiful plants. We just added the same plants our front this year but we don't know how to winterize them. I apparently also have violas as well. Can you help with this
How do you keep them flowering into October? Mine are dead by September. They will be doing great throughout July and August and then suddenly, towards the end of August, one at a time the individual plants will suddenly begin with wither and die. All the leaves just shrivel up all at the same time.
Mine have done the same, I've tried dead hearing, cutting back and no luck. I do think I was not using enough fertilizer. Other thing I learned from another video, that possibly during the hot months I should have watered at least twice a day. If it has more plants (not fullness but actual plants) will need to be watered 2 to 3x a day during summer to survive and be full.
@@lindsayb1329 water lightly before adding the fertilizer. You want the soil to be moist so that it can absorb the fertilizer, but not too wet so that it runs out the bottom.
I wish my baskets looked half as good as yours. Excellent video......... useful information............ I'll try the Jack's fertilizer and see if that makes a difference. Thanks!!!!
I have beautiful baskets like these and I use the same method, water daily and fertilize weekly. The only battle I have is if I get earwigs in the basket, drives me crazy….
Hi just came across your video. You grow jaw-dropping flower baskets. I want to make my own this year. How many plants per basket say a 18" basket & do you plat all flowers in the center or spaced out? Thank you
are these a certain variety of petunias or can this be done with any kind? theres a lot of wild petunias at my shop and last year i moved some to a hanging basket and they did well but eventually died
Your baskets are stunning, but so are the plants underneath them. Please tell me what they are. I love the pink, especially please let me know appreciate it I’m just in all of all of it. 1:491:52
@@josiahcollett3635 thank you very much! I greatly appreciate you replying so quickly. I bought two huge, beautiful hanging baskets and most of the flowers have run their course and I had no idea what to do to get the flowers to continue to grow to replace the ones that are no longer with us. 😃
I know its an old video but ive followed it to a T, my question is how often do you deadhead? And how adamant are you about getting ever spent flower? Mine are much smaller and they take like a hour each to deadhead. Thank you! 🙏
I never had to deadhead these. The new blooms cover the old ones. Sometimes after a rain there were some old blooms showing, but I just waited a couple days and then they disappeared.
@@josiahcollett3635 interesting, I was always told the spent flowers go to seed and that takes energy from the plant and you won't get as many flowers... I may have to do a side by side experiment, thank you for the reply!
@@EgZ3910 some petunias will put more energy into producing seeds, but with enough fertilizer it shouldn’t be a problem. There are also lots of sterile varieties available now too! I primarily grow the Proven Winners Supertunias, because they don’t produce seeds.
6 plants in each. These are Supertunias from Proven Winners. The vista and mini vista series are really good. These are Vista Bubblegum, Vista Silverberry, and Vista fuchsia.
@@Raniljayakody just fertilizer! Supertunias are actually mostly sterile, so they produce very few seeds if any. The only time you might feel like you need to deadhead is after a rain, because a lot of the flowers will melt if they stay wet too long. But if you fertilize, it only takes a few days for new flowers to cover all the old ones.
Gorgeous! I read all the comments first…what are your pink flowers with your blue salvia? That is the topper with your fantastic petunias. I’m so glad your showed your fertilizer. I have Jack’s and now o know I wasn’t using enough or often enough. Really hope you make more videos. You could do one on your sidewalk for sure!

Impressive!
Your flowers look amazing. Do you ever cut back or dead head your pentunias to help with growth as well?
Best video! Straight to the point and great advice. Not a lot of talking for nothing. Thank you.
I keep coming back to this video, by far the best one on the internet. Can you tell me how many plants are in each container?
There are 6 in each. If you’re planting your own, you could get away with just 4.
They’re absolutely beautiful!
They're so beautiful as your gorgeous face
Great video. Can you make more?
Jack's fertilizer really is a great product. It blows Miracle Grow out of the water, IMO

These are called Supertunias from Proven Winners. You can find them in most garden centers.
