How To Format External Hard Drives on Mac OS High Sierra

Note:
There is another video on my channel that is nearly identical to this only a longer. I wanted to make a simpler straight to the point video. This issue of formatting hard drives on OS High Sierra has really frustrated people so I wanted a simple instructional version, so I made a part 2.
Are you getting error messages when formatting external drives using Disk Utility?
The fix:
In Disk Utility...Go to View and select Show All Devices.
Select the top volume of your hard drive
Press Erase
How To Format External Hard Drives on Mac OS High Sierra:
1. Plug in External Hard Drive to Mac
2. Open Disk Utility
1. Open Finder...Click Go...Utilities... Click Disk Utility
2. Go to Applications...Utilities Folder...Click Disk Utility
3. In Disk Utility:
1. Select External Drive to Format
2. Check ‘Show All Devices’
3. Select Top Volume of Hard Drive you want to Format
4. Press Erase in Top Center
5. Name Hard Drive
6. Format:
1. Choose APFS (newer format) or Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (older standard but still good)
2. Choose GUID Partition Map
Erase
Done
Hard Drive should show Green Check and mount on your Desktop
