    Love how even though it was the railroad that pressured the engineer to speed to make up time, the lesson at the end of the song is somehow for....women.

      Is that where the footage is from? I’ve seen it used in other productions, like the film serial Zorro Rides Again.

    Almost sounds similar to the one heard on my old cassette "Treasury of Railroad Songs" featuring Wayne Moore.

      After the wreck, the engine was recovered and repaired. It continued to work until July of 1935 when it was dismantled.

      @@Fanofthomas31 yes it was a Southern Railway steam engine that derailed. It has since been scrapped many years after the wreck.

      that’s VALE 97. completely different engine. the train number was 97 and the locomotive number was 1102.

    • @CraigBaughan-mg3hf
      @CraigBaughan-mg3hf Год назад +1

      Broady's 1102 was renumbered and not scrapped. It was haunted by the ghost of a headless crewman and left to rust on a northern Virginia siding which has since passed into private ownership.

    I think the crash mighta been a little bit cheesy. It just fell off the side of a straight line bridge.

    • @johntravis3500
      @johntravis3500 2 года назад +2

      The train never made it onto the trestle. It left the track in the curve and plunged into the ravine where the trestle bridged Stillhouse Creek. Cheesy? Apparently you've never seen a 60 mph train wreck...and "scalded to death by the steam" doesn't accurately describe Broady's injuries. The flesh was literally flayed off his upper body, arms, and face clean to the bone.
