  • With over 300 aircraft in its commercial passenger fleet, Turkish Airlines connects the world to and through Turkey and its hub at the new Istanbul airport. The airline offers service to over 200 international destinations and is a defining feature of the Star Alliance member. With narrowbodies and widebodies from both Airbus and Boeing, let’s take a deep dive into the big and diverse fleet of Turkish Airlines in today’s video.

    Correction: This video mistakenly included the airline's 10 A330-200 freighters in the numbers and average ages. Excluding these jets, the airline has just under 300 aircraft instead of over 300.

    Turkish Airlines cabin crew is A+, I’ve never been dissatisfied. My first long haul flight was with Turkish and after receiving a hot towel, amenity kit with socks and slippers AND 2 free 23 kg checked baggage, I was under the impression every airline would do that in basic economy but no other any other airline flying US to Europe does that. Not to mention the food quality. Really good airline.👍

    Turkish Airlines has a beautiful livery on par with Hawaiian Airlines. The silver pattern in the middle adds a touch of elegance to what is basically another Eurowhite livery. I also remember the ad Turkish put out based on the five senses. A truly classy organization. 👏

      silver pattern in the middle is a tulip, arguably the unofficial national flower of Turkey. Netherlands is famous for its tulip fields but the first tulip buds were brought from Turkey.

    I remember an article that TK was going to order the 747-8. It wasn't true, but would've been amazing if it was. They could've done a usual layout of business and economy on main deck with premium economy in the hump.

      @@cameltoeharris6569 with Lufthansa having about 30 business class seats in the hump of their 747-8, I'd imagine you could put the same amount of PE seats. Virgin Atlantic had a mix of PE and economy in the hump of their 747s

  • @grahambaker6664
    @grahambaker6664 2 года назад +6

    Possibly Turkish Airlines is too diverse and would be better sticking with A350s as its large widebody, 787s as its small widebody, and A320 NEO family (including A319 and A321) for its narrowbody. This would retain good freight capacity in its passenger fleet which has been a regular earnings feature of the airline. The 737s could be transferred to the subsidiary airlines as they tend to be more leisure passenger focused and the cargo handling advantages of the A320 family are not required.

    • @lastflightofosiris
      @lastflightofosiris 2 года назад +1

      Turkish is too big and uses cheap labor too much to be standardized. 787 and 350 fleets were purchased for specific destinations and they only fly there. Airbus narrowbodies are jack of all trades, while 737s are the breadwinners for both domestic routes and African ports with inferior infrastructure. Cargo is becoming more and more profitable, but managing and planning small quantities are simply not profitable for this magnitude of operation. So, they opt for big cargo. Even 777F series haul full to the brim.

    • @hakanevin8545
      @hakanevin8545 2 года назад +3

      They have diverse fleet in order to be able to get best prices from Airbus and Boeing. They have a very strong maintenance division, so diversity is not a technical issue for them.
      Also being a 6th freedom airline, there are strategic reasons to share orders between European and US manufacturers.

    well, I think they should only buy Airbus jets, as they are European and also why do they call the Boeing 787 as " Dreamliner " does this jet make people go asleep, They should stick with Airbus. In fact are now making profits again.

    • @mmm0404
      @mmm0404 Год назад +1

      Why thou? The 787 offers better economics than the a350 more especially on narrower long haul routes and is more flexible and versatile. Why should they give all that up just because they are European? Delta , American and united operate a huge n.o of Airbus jets so I don't get the fuss. lol

      Turkish Airlines usually wait to order a new aircraft type. They prefer to take other airlines' feedback first. This was the case for their 787 and A350 orders.

    I think, there is a misstatement in the Airbus A330-200 fleet. Ten of these aircraft are A330-200F freighters. As you remove 8 Boeing 777F freighters, you should also remove these 10 Airbus A330-200Fs from the commercial fleet.

    Can't compete with SQ and QR. Especially Q Suite but also CC on SQ is def way better.
    Another Problem is their extremely bad safety record considered it wants to compete and play in the Champions League. I dont know any other Airline that size with a bad safety like TK does have.

      Nowadays, turkish airlines is very safe. They had a rough past, but now they are extremely safe. I’ve never had a problem with them.
      Business class wise, their products on the A350 and 787 is good, and so is on the A321neo and A321. However, the hard product on the 777 and A330 has to improve there.
