    I have one of these bows and love it, it works great and have even taken deer with it. I practice with it on a regular basis along with my compound at the same time and carry both when I hunt. I carry the folding bow in its sheath along side my back quiver with arrows as a backup bow just in case or to use for traditional shooting for hunt and stalk times. It is nice to have a second bow for that purpose that is easy to take down.😊

    I have a Timber Creek Mamba horse bow for SHTF. It's super light, splits into two pieces, you can run with it in your hand for long distances, and they can be 40lbs shots.
    It took me a while to adapt my style to it from a normal recurve, like a Hoyt, but I love it now I know how to use it. Can keep it at the back of my back with no fuss.

    It's been decades since I used a traditional bow. The TSB is an interesting option to add to a bug out system. I've been using a Simple Shot sling for about a year now and have gotten pretty accurate with it using 3/8 inch ammo...targeting one liter plastic soda bottles and an old BBQ lid. Zach Fowler from season one of "Alone" got me interested and my collection has grown. Economics is keeping me at the sling shot level...forty bucks (plus ammo is cheap) for my sling vs 200 bucks for a 40# draw TSB and arrows aren't cheap. Thanks for sharing this option, Bryan.

    Bryan, for a survival bow I would highly recommend the Samick Sage Recurve Take Down Bow. Amazon sells it for $129 and is a much liter package than the Survival Archery Bow and fits in a smaller package. Nice review. Check out Samick Archery and do a comparison video of both packages.

    Bryan if the bows were set up properly to your requirements with a good arrow rest, the knock set at the proper height, the brace height properly adjusted, you would dial in your shooting very quickly. The off colored vane should go to the outside as you thought. Your friend gave you excellent advice. Always wear and arm protector and a glove of some sort. You can't imagine the pain and ugly caused by the string slapping your naked arm. One last tip. Once your brace height is properly adjusted, when you unstring your bow, be careful that your string does not untwist. Put the ends together and secure them together. Happy shooting brother.

    Someone who designed this bow definitely did not have much archery knowledge just by looking at the arrows. On a bow like this you're going to need non-stiff arrows. Because the arrow has to "curve" around the riser (archer's paradox). By making the arrows collapsible, they are crazy stiff. Infact too stiff to even shoot out of a center-cut riser, this one is NOT a center-cut riser... Not only that but on a recurve you need feathers, NOT vanes for fletching. Because you need a whisker-biscuit or drop away rest like on a compound to use those. These would be more suited on a crossbow than a recurve...

    • @survivalarcherysystems
      @survivalarcherysystems 3 года назад +2

      Brian did mention in the video he had not fitted an arrow rest which is why he had the bare metal shaft sliding on the bare metal riser making a noise. With the bear weather rest it’s perfectly quiet. The other thing was that one of the pivot pin screws was not tightened so that was the twang vibration noise you hear in the video. The bow is very quiet.

    I have this bow in the 45 lbs range and love it I have made limb quivers for it out of a pair of flip flops that hold four arrows very nicely, unfortunately I don't have the take down arrows to go with the bow and I am using full length carbon arrows with 2 inch vanes.

Another reason I opted for a sling shot vs a TSB is that I can carry my sling in a pants pocket and a leather pouch on my belt with 100pc of 3/8 inch ammo; plus deployment is almost instantaneous should I need it.

    Hey Brian, that was another informative well explained video even with a little rambling, but there's nothing wrong with the rambling, I do it myself when I'm doing something new as a way to think thru what I'm doing, enough about me, do you recommend any smaller takedown systems? There are a few dart type systems for slingshots, even one for fishing. All of these are for much shorter ranges, but sometimes you just want something in your daypack just in case. Also, the link to your amazon account seems to be disabled? Is that because of my VPN or is amazon just being that way? Anyway I enjoyed the video, please keep them coming.

      What he said ;-) That is basically the amount of force it takes to draw the bow. The bigger the draw weight the faster it shoots the arrow flies and the more energy it imparts to the target.

Bottom line, when you call someone a liar you should really be sure you know what you are talking about. There was a time. Not that long ago, when that was justification for deadly combat.
