Just discovered Ani about 1 week ago and must tell you folks: I love this singer. Every song is so different and is crafted by a true musician. Which now a days is a wonderfully refreshing statement to make. Five Stars!!
She's one of the best acoustic guitarists alive. She was doing fascinating harmonics in her songs long before it caught on. Her lyrics are all incredible poems, too.
I am a gay Man and would too. Just need to smoke, smile, and chat.... Love is wild and damn cool cool and confusing. This Woman gave me the strength to appreciate love.
She is so ON FIRE!! I remember seeing her in the 90's at Blue Moon Coffee House at Illinois Wesleyan University...This video reminds me of those good old days!!!!!
!!WHAT!! Just call me shameless.. if only we could all embrace these lyrics every moment of life.. how much happier we'd be .. I love this freakin' song!!!!!! this song gives me chills..
Roes and Blue-jay, with purple eyes raise to your z, you are a classic Canadian folk icon. Blessings. I first met you at Winnipeg folk fest at the side of the stage while mo xi fruevie preformed. I heard your music, floating stoned i fell in love with your harmonically melodic rhythmic percussive style. Blesing and thanks for how you have always inspired me, and made me wept, while smile with the thought of you. With tearz in my eyes, much love. Namaste
hot stuff Ani, thanks. Caught you on PBS & looked you up. Just shared this on FCBK... "This woman is daring to be ! hmm... imagine 1/2 the world as open & honest as she... ♪ ♥ ♪♪
she tours all the time and she's outside the US very often. She's played all over Europe: France, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Denmark but also Australia, Japan... And guess what? she played in Oslo at least two times that I know of so I'm sure she'll be back.
shes fucking amazing! an absolute goddess, incredible character and the best damn poet on the planet! if you cant find even one little thing to respect her for talent wise, then youre blind because you wanna be, ya dig?
as a 'black metal bitch', I discounted her for many years as just another hippie with a guitar and connections.... I was so wrong... this woman is amazing, and anyone who doesn't take the time to listen is selling her/him self short....
I'm claiming that you don't think it's okay for "Joe Southerner" to think that being gay is wrong. The argument I make is that you can't tell people that they have to accept others homosexuality and say that we're being intolerant.
Christ, the fucking singers. Audiences hell bent on turning shows into singalongs is really starting to ruin concerts. I go to shows specifically to hear and see the artist, not hear a bunch of tone deaf strangers desperate to show everyone that they know the words and competing to be heard over the band.
She always changes things up or loses a little stamina when the crowd is screaming back at her. But none of these fools seem to notice. Maybe I just didn't have enough chocolate today but those people piss me off. Ani is the greatest, no doubt but let her sing the fucking song people.
Ani was writing music years before Christina Aguilera started recording other people's songs. But that's fine--Christina is a fantastic singer, which isn't really what Ani is aiming for. I'm not wild about her slap-style guitar, but she doesn't rely heavily on cliche--do you have a specific example in mind? And she can't be a fallacy. In what way is she an illogical or misleading argument?
Ya know. Some people can really screw up a perfect thing. What the hell does gay or anything like it have to do with this great music. Listen. Enjoy. Go about your life. Why do some lesbians run around looking like truckers and some gay men run around looking like an umbrella drink and then bitch because they get picked on. God. This is great music. Leave it at that.
woodensaw, pop-pablum? Really now, it seems like you were just just dying to use that insult without regard to the artist you applied it to. If she was pop-pablum she would have been played on pop radio, you wouldn't have had to go to RUclips to hear her. So much of Difranco's work has no resemblence to pop that I've got to believe you're making these comments just to get a reaction. You come across as a juvenile in need of attention. If you're really 24 this is just pitiable.

😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈
I wish i was her double-bass player.
@FWFFAN Shut the front door, Female DMB? I can't even possibly start a comment on the depth less ineptitude of that statement.
Tight. Dig the hair, btw.
I'm claiming that you don't think it's okay for "Joe Southerner" to think that being gay is wrong.

She actually made a comment on this on Render.
btw, if you have not seen Render, Highly, highly recommend
+Dvdsky It's a two way street. Done right it adds to the atmosphere of a show. Would be joyless if the crowd stayed silent all the way through.

Shameless: the Yngwie Malmsteen Remix 🤣
Ani is a capitalist ... she's one of the wealthiest women in America
For the record...dudes can listen to Ani D too
For the record, there is no record... That's the problem... ;)
@hotcheerios911 Would make more sense to dedicate a political song like Serpentine to them, instead of a love/relationship song.

🤣
It's about her affair with another woman. Some people don't agree with that lifestyle. Tolerance is a two way street.
lol
Mod
wow, that is a sexist comment if i have ever heard one!
