Hi Carol, that was a great video! Wanted to know how to shorten the chain bag strap for this model Kate-spade-new-york-medium-spade-flower-round-crossbody-bag. The chains are not removeable and it is attached outside the bag. Kindly share your ideas if any. Thanks in advance :)
One method you can use to make holes is a leather punch (around $25). One tool makes many sizes of holes. I found several places that sell them: home improvement stores (Low's, Home Depot, TruValue, etc.), Amazon, ebay, a "farm or rodeo type stores" that sell cowboy boots, horse saddles, cowboy hats, etc., a craft store, etc. The second method is one nail and hammer. Hit the nail with the hammer, not very hard, until you make a hole all the way through the material in something like a purse strap, belt or shoes. I made extra holes in shoes to make more holes for shoelaces. I have used these on different materials: leather, faux leather, pvc belt, other man-made materials, baby bottle (thin, plastic bottles). I have even made holes in small, thin and pliable plastic kitchen storage container, crafts, , etc. Anything soft like these materials will work.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO USE ON THESE MATERIALS: Glass, wood, thin cloth, fabric clothes, jewlery, nothing metal, hard acrylic, hard plastic or any hard materials like these. NOTHING RIGID!!! *These are Only MY experiences which have worked for me. This is NOT a tutorial or a teaching video at all!!! If you do try either or both of the 2 methods I have described, do so at your own risk!!! 🙂
I don’t know why this got so many downvotes, it’s very thoughtful and creative! Great tips!
Glad you liked it Karen! ❤️🤗

THANK YOU SO MUCCHHH! SUCH A BIG HELPP❤❤❤
Sooooooo helpfullll 💓💓💓👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much for this!!! I almost returned my handbag to the store cuz the chains were too long 😂😂
I love what you did with the Fendy strap! So smart!
It’s such a useful trick. Glad you liked it ❤️
For the first hack you could also crisscross it
I was thinking that too. Just hook the chain to opposite rings so it’s crossed over under the flap
Do you have an updated hack for those undetachable chained round bags ? 😢
Sorry I don’t have any suggestions for a bag like that.
your content is good. however, camera should focus close up with the bag to have a better view with your demonstration.
Thank you soo much!!!
Easiest is to take the bag to a shoe repairer. He or she will fix the strap in no time neatly and for little cost.
Luv ur tips!
What if you can’t unhook the chain strap?
How do you shorten an 11" leather strap that doesn't have a crossbody
Hmm hard to say based off that info. What’s the bag?
what else would you like to know about the purse.?It's an all leather kate spade. 11" strap with no crossbody strap. I'm only 4:10"
