      I want the copium that anyone who thinks this is not a 6 Maxx C scenario in Master Duel if Maxx C is not banned. Putting yourself in a winning position in 50% of games is enough on its own to justify, yes the math checks out - you can get to Master 1 with a 50% win ratio which is the absolute WORST case scenario assuming you lose every one of your go first games. But if you really want more arguments:
      - A dead card is mathematically not a detriment worth even considering. You only need a single starter for full combo, and then you can have 3 other live cards alongside a dead Maxx 3.
      - Nibiru is a top used card despite how dead it is going first and even going second sometimes while Maxx 3 is even more impactful then Nibiru and will be dead far less going second.
      - It's insurance if your combo is stopped. Most decks can pivot into SP > pass. Simply disrupting a monster play of your opponent's gets SP off the field or, worst case, they remove it with a S/T or go to BP and beat over it... in which case Maxx 3 is live... and they can't win that turn after BP... wait what exactly is the downside? lmao.
      The downside is trivial. Yes, some of the greatest copium of all time.

    The answer is simple: Konami NEEDS to go all in on a game design. The problem with Yu-Gi-Oh, is the Extra Deck. There is just no way to balance it. You can't design a card that "deals" with the Extra Deck and have it be fair, because there will always be situations where said card is not fair. Modern Yu-Gi-Oh is just a broken game.

  • @jacobwoodard818

    I think this good is good because decks have to simultaneously respect Nib and the Multcharmy cards. This forces combo decks like Snake-Eyes to make a fair end board. Because of the rise of going 2nd decks decks like Centurion, Tenpai, and Yubel Fiendsmith will be the best decks. Combo decks will still exist after Beatrice and Caesar are banned. But it will be decks like Spright variants that will keep them alive. We needed a card so that while people negate Nib they still have to respect something. Nib is so toxic that omni-negates are needed to support its existence. But if we want the TCG to become as healthy as the OCG we need a card almost as Impactful as Maxx C in a addition to a card like Nib to discourage people from making seemingly unbeatable boards. This is the easiest way to fix the game without banning over 1,000 cards. If allowing going 2nd to draw 3 or more cards fixes the game I'm all for it. It may even make decks like Exosisters, and Traptrix more than circumstantially good decks that only have a place in the game when the meta favors them.

    • @jvsonic2468
      @jvsonic2468 2 месяца назад +3

      I just think Nadir, aka Farfa, is onto something. Let's not make more handtraps with broken effects no matter how you balance the card for going 2nd decks to use. Let's make cards for archetypes moving forward that incentives or supports you going 2nd with the engines, mix of archetypes, and/or non-handtrap, non-engine cards you're running with great effects that helps them push against going 1st decks a little more harder, especially with the activated effects that would reduce the interactivity of your opponent's responses if the archetypes themselves aren't that great. That would be the better design approach of helping going 2nd decks thrive better. That also would bring Konami to be more open with the effects they make; for an example, instead of having you search or recycle a card, summon one of a theme or set of monsters, and/or disrupt the opponent's plays in many different ways provided that trades equally one another (ex. remove an opponent's card with your card that removes it), increase the number amount you search and/or recycle, summon, and/or disrupt the opponent's plays in multiple different ways with better value one card at a time (ex. like an archetypical Dark Ruler No More) through going 2nd. Dark Ruler No More was a fantastically designed card that keeps combo decks in check. More of that design will help make the game more healthy overall.

    • @jacobwoodard818
      @jacobwoodard818 2 месяца назад

      @@jvsonic2468 I agree but if we don't have them during certain formats we might be throwing away our only way to win. I was saying if we ban Veiler and Imperm and make at least 1 new once per turn version we can make the hand trap wars healthier. This also doesn't exclude hand trap enjoyers who don't prefer board breakers. Essentially the idea is to balance the hand trap wars instead of stopping them. The problem with that board breaker is whatever board breaker they come up with would need to be a mix of Dark Ruler and Evenly Matched because Konami has and will produce cards with weak stats. The only way make Dark Ruler work for example is cards like Garunix Eternity. The Multcharmy cards fixes it through deck building influence and doesn't make us wait for cards we might have to wait years for. If decks other than decks like Kashtira can't bust a combo decks board then they will lose as they slowly get out advantaged.

      @@invertbrid My reasoning is handling the real problem is better than not allowing decks like Snake-Eye exist. If Apallousa is banned Konami can continue making decks consistent. • @JTSpeeed
    @JTSpeeed 2 месяца назад +14

    My main problem with the Snake-eye example is that forcing your opponent into I:P Temple pass while you still start your turn with 6 cards is not a fair trade. If the most recent tier 0 deck is ending on 2 interruptions in a best case scenario, you are functionally kneecapping every other deck in the game. It's also just another bridge to power creep. Since Nib was revealed Konami has made a consistent batch of decks that don't care about Nib, now we'll just be seeing them make decks that don't care about Mulchummy. The power creep in the game is about to go berserk again

Op now starting on 5 cards and you got handtraps, Guardian Chimera on the opponents turn and a Diabellze play.

      Traptrix? Basic turn one combo summons twice from the extra and once from the deck.
      Salamangreat? Ends on literally no interaction unless they summon like 10 times from extra.
      Dragon Link? See above.
      Branded? Ideally wants to summon at least 3 times from the extra to end on Mirrorjade.
      Etc, etc. I could keep going, but the point is, there is a lot of (definitely NOT "op") rogue decks which are forced to either let the opponent go +2/3 with this card, or play a suboptimal opener. Saying that it only hurts "stupid op decks that shouldn't exist in the first place" just because your pet deck is barely affected by it is incredibly disingenuous and extremely shortsighted. Honestly, I'm starting to think the OCG/MD is gonna keep Maxx C around. I say this, because the OCG/MD tends to look at the banlist heavily from a statistical perspective. Right now, the going first player has a 57.71% chance of drawing an out to Maxx C/Fuwaross (3 Ash Blossom + 2 Called by + 1 Crossout) in a 40 card deck. The going second player has a 33.76% of drawing Maxx C, but adding Fuwaross gives them 6 copies of Maxx C/Fuwaross, which is the same amount of copies as the first turn player's outs. So, now the going second player is as likely to draw Maxx C/Fuwaross as the going first player is to draw an out, which was not the case before. This is why I think the OCG/MD will probably keep Maxx C around.
    edit: they could also ban called by and crossout, in addition to Maxx C, if they wanted to keep the probabilities balanced/the same (3 ash blossom vs 3 fuwaross). but personally, I don't see that happening, I don't think Maxx C is going anywhere.

    I hate it not because it's individually insane, I hate it because it's the same as all other hand traps. Makes great decks even greater and middling decks unplayable.
    Joshua even points out that you want a grip of handtraps with this thing and even against it if it happens to resolve and you need to make a slim board.

Like, is you wanna play an old deck that can't keep up with snake eyes or whatever, Maxx C is that perfect, "Fuck you, I'm gonna play the game whether you like it or not." type card.
    In a game where people constantly spend 15 minutes on turn 1 trying to stop the opponent from doing literally anything, Maxx C is like a nice tank of air when you would otherwise down- and if Konami wants to keep the game in the state it's in, I say fuck it and unlimit Maxx C completely. 🙄

    4:55 What Josh here made me think of something: why are we trying to "fix" going second using new cards? Clearly going second is weaker, and it seems that Konami is "trying" to fix that by releasing decks that are good going second (Tenpai) or cards that are better/only work going second. The problem then is that these cards become "necessary" to play the game competitively, forcing players to spend on packs or the card market. Konami is just releasing band-aid fixes that makes the playerbase give them more money. They made the problem of cards being able to make impenetrable setups turn 1, then sell the solution. If they really want to fix going 2nd and don't want to implement rotation, they should do a fundamental buff to the turn 2 player. They nerfed going first before, they can do it again.

    I'd love a format with the Mulcharmys if it goes in tandem with removing the blowout handtraps and boardbreakers from the game. Combo decks having to contest a 12 card opening hand is pretty fair tbh, but if among those cards theres 2 Evenly Matched and you had to play through Nib as well, that'd be rather toxic I feel, and not a good experience for either player, really. If going second you have that many cards in hand, I don't think we should keep powerful equalizers like Evenly and Nibiru in the game, but trading one for one interactions somewhat proportional to how much your opponent committed seems like a pretty fun game actually.
    If this ends up in rotating out nonengine for an all gas back and forth, I'm all for it.

Plus this card is literally more fair at the end of the day.

      @@pwner10xExtra Deck isn't only used by combo decks, and if a deck is centered on a Extra Deck mechanic (granted, these are usually more combo heavy), they usually can't avoid using the Extra Deck since ED monsters have to come from the ED. I agree about the summon from Deck part, you can probably play around that with some clever deck building.

      How is spamming the extra deck any worse than spamming from the hand and deck? They're all a means to an end

      @@Big1nz Well decks such as vanquish soul don't actually need to summon that many times (like 5 max) vs many decks exhausting half their extra deck turn 1 which makes me sit there for 5 minutes? Also there are too many generic extra staples nowadays along with in archtype stratos type effects in the extra deck.

    Besides the obvious mulcharmy that will draw from gy and banish ss, what if the 4th element mulcharmy lets you quick effect discard it to add any of the other 3.

    The second part should only count the number of monsters your opponent controls, not cards so that it wouldn't count S/T when shuffling and it would shuffle back more cards. Another possible change would be instead of saying you can activate 1 other "Mulcharmy" effect, it could say you can only activate 1/2 other monster effect(s). I think this card would be much more fair this way.

    anyone noticed that the card says "NORMAL or Special summon from DECK or EXTRA DECK" kinda weird? Like, we probably cannot NORMAL SUMMON from those 2 places, lol.

    There's no HOPT clause on this, so you could activate two in one turn. Not very practical, but very funny if you chain to a card/effect that summons from the deck.
