Imagine Loki singing this while sitting in the dungeons...
heartbreaking
Your Cheatin' Heart would be worse.
*animatic idea*
Frick.
Oh God..
Are ya a monster or something else ?
great actor but tom needs to do an album beautiful voice
That's a good suggestion. For now, you can purchase ISTL CD.
Yesss please! That would be awesome!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
He did. The soundtrack ;)
The lighting is freaking perfect, they knew how to invoke emotion.
Nothing compared to the man, Hank Williams.
@@codykutny2532 of course not but it's still amazing!

I really really really loved Tom's version, so tender and sweet :)
Agreed ! Also, remember his words in an interview last March, he said : “Music is the most evocative and most immediate emotional art form I think. Singing is the most naked means of expression because there is nothing to hide behind. Actors hide behind their characters, writers hide behind their writings, artists hide behind their paintings or their sculptures. Singers, if you communicate anything as a singer, it comes from the heart.” to which I concur 100%. So, Hank Williams here is very Tom Hiddleston.
Sound like pop music like Tony bennett's version. Hank williams wrote this song and sang it better but I like Tom interpretation
it the same song nothing has changes
@@DMarite I actually think no form of artist can hide behind anything.
At least I feel like I see artists' souls in every piece of art they make.
Doesn't matter if they're actors, painters, singers, writers.
But I absolutely agree that a singer and songwriter can't at all be hidden
@@DMarite That....is so poetic Ohhh my woah tom why 😍😍😍😍
This gave me chills. I will always wonder why it wasn't included in the soundtrack.
and that's why i don't buy soundtracks anymore... they ALWAYS leave the best tracks out. same with the only orchestreal soundtracks. the best stuff is always missing...
Chezmama1 I kept looking for this on the soundtrack but no dice. I thought maybe it was another film but come to find out I had better luck finding it on RUclips lol.

I dearly love Tom. I went to dleep and left my elbow on my keybozrd. It's just that sime. Tom is so talented. So. To whom the jerk is who said Tebecca Workman sucks..needs to watch his mouth and quite judging people before he knows the whole story... And I DON'T SUCK..
Rebecca Workman sucks
I remember freezing in my tracks when this song started it the movie. Definalty sets the tone
I was mesmerized by this opening scene, every frame and note. Love Tom Hiddleston. Such a talented man.
So was I !! It was a BEAUTIFUL start for a movie! At first I thought it was Hank Williams singing, but then it hit me that it wouldn't be that clear! But I must say, GREAT MOVIE!
I'm a Hank Williams fan and I think he did a great job portraying old Hank.
So did i
It’s so criminal how this movie doesn’t get enough credit
Thank you Tom, from a proud native son of Montgomery Alabama.
Best opening to this movie. He really does a beautiful version of the song. 😇
I broke the replay button.....not ashamed
Crystal Rin Cosplay me tooooo
Owo
Quite possibly one of the most perfect openings to a movie I’ve seen in a very, VERY long time...
This is the sexiest and best opening to a movie. Is there anything he can’t do?
Uncanny how much he looks and sounds like Hank! He really nailed it. And he's British!
This brings peace to my soul. Whenever I'm feeling down, I just listen to Tom singing one of Hank's songs. It's a pity he didn't do more though. I would love to hear for example Dear John or Kaw-Liga.
me too i love him ...the movie was very good and sad ...enjoy
Is he singing in his own original voice or as hank william's voice ?
Komal Shahzad In the I Saw The Light commentary, Tom Hiddleston wanted to learn what Hank's songs were about and how to sing, talk, and move like him.
Setting the Woods on Fire and Howlin’ at the Moon and I’ll Never Get Out Of this World Alive for me
This is such a perfect song for Loki! "...made your heart sad and blue..." lool
This made me cry the first time I heard it.
Rachael Hill I Get you. I cried the first times. What the song says happens all the time. Beautiful mix of words, music and outstanding performance of Tom (Loki).
This performance made me cry. It was incredible.
That was absolutely amazing. He evokes so much emotion with his voice.
Wish this was on the soundtrack
Tom did a good job singing. Acting a part like this is harder than playing loki, where no one knows him. Hank Williams is known all pver this country and it's gotta be hard filling those shoes.
Superior, Tom. One soul for another's.
The ending Steele guitar is powerful
i know, i love the sound it makes!
Tom Hiddleston is more country than Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean put together
Andy D I do believe this is the realest thing I've read all week this week
Andy D you're a absolute joke if you believe Tom hiddleston is more "country" than Garth Brooks. The others you named, sure he could beat them, but you do realize he's a ACTOR ? he trained for this role, he studied various singers from the era you're obviously referring to, to get into character.
Andy D maybe not Garth Brooks but the others, yes I so agree
Andy D you're dumb
Baileigh Robinson Garth Brooks wasn't country, and neither was his "alter ego" Chris Whogivesadamn...Garth was nothing but a Coke head
Wow. Amazing that somebody from a completely alien culture (England) could manage to "get" Hank Senior. Awesome talent there.
GuTWorm68 That doesn't mean Hank was English, does it? You swear like just because white people in America are mostly English colonizers they stick to their English roots. Yeah right. Hank was southern - a total contrast to English culture.
In actuality the English do a better job imitating Southern accents than some Americans and have done so in several movies, including Gone with the Wind. There are reasons for that which I won’t elaborate except to say that the South was mostly settled by transplanted Brits.
English culture is not completely alien, its different, but the similarities out number the differences by far. The US, UK and Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand are all part of one continuum of cultures. Some would include South Africa, but I don't because the Dutch Boers, and the native peoples have had a bigger influence on SA culture than the British did. Its really not that amazing, American Country has enjoyed a fair amount of popularity in the UK in the past, more so in Scotland and Ireland no doubt, but in England as well, I mean The Beatles were self-professed fans of Hank sr. themselves. Furthermore, the ancestor genre of Country, Bluegrass, is the direct descendant of Scots, and Irish folk music, so there's a direct link there. English, or more appropriately British, and American culture are completely different things, they are really just variations on the same themes, and the same is true for AUS, and NZ. Without Britain, none of these nations, or their cultures would exist.
FKN FGGT
You are saying that England are U.S. are same only because U.S. is a former British colony, which is ridiculous.
TH is an upper class Oxbridge boy from London who did really good portrayal of a working class Southern country singer of the past.
lindygee
Because Brits have better drama schools, which they actually attend. In the U.S. acting education isn’t that much required.
Tom shoulda got an award, this performance never ceases to amaze me!💞
I've been so stressed and his beautiful voice relaxed me ❤❤
I can't stop listening to this!
same
his voice is so beautiful 😍
No hablo inglés pero amo la música de Hank Williams y creo que esta es una excelente interpretación de Tom
So this song came on my “If you really love me” station and I thought it was the perfect song for a Loki edit and I came here to RUclips to record the song just to find THIS. LIKE THATS HIM SINGING IT
😍😍😍😍😍 Tom Hiddleston singing voice is perfect just like his regular voice..
*casually dies*
He has the vice of a ANGEL 😇
I love this man sooo much
he killed it in this.
Although Tom is no Hank himself, I love the passion and emotions he evokes into his singing. It's beautiful really
I learned Hank Williams through this movie, I only can say he was amazingly talented.
This opening scene made my heart stop. Too bad they didn't include more of Hank's wonderful songs in this film.
Agreed.
+DMarite Some songs in my opinion could have included "Settin' The Woods on Fire," "Long Gone Lonesome Blues," "I Won't Be Home No More," "Ramblin' Man," "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You)", "I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive," "You Win Again," "Half As Much," "Kawliga", "Howlin' At The Moon," "Weary Blues From Waitin'," or "(I Heard That) Lonesome Whistle."
Virginia Mackey, my mama was a Mackey before she married my dad.
I can't believe how amazing he sounds. Great talent.
That was so very lovely! He's no Hank Williams but he's got a very sweet and tender voice.
AND he's British!
True. There will only ever be one Hank Williams but he portrays him well.
I love love LOVE this so much... He did such an amazing job. ♡
Chills. Literal chills seeing this for the first time at the cinema.
Sounds fantastic and singing this acapella.
this is the opening scene to the movie and really sets the mood and forshadows. defitnely recommend this movie
When I watched this scene for the first time, I was in love with the ambience and the voice with no instruments, the final chords at the end are otherworldly also.
god this scene is so fucking sick. who ever had the idea to shoot it like this knows how to set a mood to the point where the cinematography alone makes you wanna cry. Makes you feel almost like its his last song he get to sing but its actually his first song of the film...
(Sorry for my bad english)
Tom’s voice always makes my heart melt, and it’s the only thing i’d love to listen to everyday.
Like an angel’s voice. It’s so warm, so sweet, and this song (sang by Tom) is my lady jam haha. Everytime heard this song, i got so many feelings in my heart.
Thank you, Tom. For being exist, for having such a thrilling voice, for being the kindest most caring person in the world (i’m following Tom everyday haha).
❤️❤️❤️
Yes, Tom does a wonderful job!! You should listen to the original by Hank Williams as well
He certainly doesn't sound like Hank Williams, but I like his voice all on its own. It's like a tribute, instead of an impression.
I love it! He's beautiful and so is his voice.
Best part of the whole movie....everything is just perfect in this scene!!
I wish they would have put this on the album! It would have been perfect to start off the soundtrack! So so good! He did an AMAZING job in this movie!
That gives me chills. I love Toms voice in this Video♥♥♥
One of the best song’s that Hank ever wrote. With all the pain, sorrow and hard living, he really died an old man.
This a capella version is absolutely spellbinding. I'm not even a country music fan, but his voice is just breathtaking on this.
This is definitely one of the best opening scenes I've ever seen
This is fantastic. Tom did a beautiful job! Love this song and his performance in ISTL.
I cannot stop pressing replay. Everything about this is incredible!! I love Tom with 110% of my being. I'm a big fan of Hank Williams, and this just leaves me speechless every time. The way the lighting hits him, the fact it's a cappella, it just leaves chills running down my spine. I think it was a perfect way to open ISTL.
very sweet and so true ...thank you for these song from my childhood ...re done with a very sweet voice of tom Hiddleston
Imagine Loki singing this to Sylvie 🥰😭
Damn I just made myself cry
This comment I did hits hard now that S2 is out. This is exactly what he would sing to Sylvie to snap her out of her bad attitude
In case anyone is wondering why we love Tom Hiddelston ... here is the answer !!!
Man wrote from the heart your not in pain anymore hank you have flown away and you are seeing the light
TH deserved an Oscar for his portyal as Hank. I am an Indian and nothing know about Hanks Williams. But TH gave his soul in this film I feel. But poor fellow did not appreciated much for his hard work. He deserves better appreciation for his acting in this movie.
Happybelated heavenly birthday hank williams your country music legacy lives on forever made the way for many future country stars you were are the brightest hank
more films need to start so wonderful ...wow...
This scene gave me the chills the first time I heard it
big tom wakes hank up and embodies hanks spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a voice and what an actor!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everytime I hear that steel I get chills
he made me cry.... he is sooo good at singing too, what he is not good at
What is more beautiful than the song is the lighting. Oh my god.
I will never stop listening to this 😇
omg i love this so much
I tried so hard my dear to show that you're my every dream.
Yet you're afraid each thing I do is just some evil scheme
A memory from your lonesome past keeps us so far apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold cold heart
Another love before my time made your heart sad and blue
And so my heart is paying now for things I didn't do
In anger unkind words are said that make the teardrops start
Why can't I free your doubtful mind, and melt your cold cold heart
You'll never know how much it hurts to see you sit and cry
You know you need and want my love yet you're afraid to try
Why do you run and hide from life, to try it just ain't smart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold cold heart
There was a time when I believed that you belonged to me
But now I know your heart is shackled to a memory
The more I learn to care for you, the more we drift apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold cold heart
He needed to put just a teench more cry in it....
That said, I think he and Crowell did a fabulous job recreating Sr.
hiddleston is incredible!!!!!!! HANK IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow I love this like no other
aw dam it tom has a beautiful voice i shall have to watch this film
Por que no hay un botón de 'me encanta' aquí!!
This man is perfect.
It's a tragedy that Tom's stellar performance in this movie most likely will not be recognized at awards time because the movie itself is a complete train wreck.
Agreed. Not recognized at Awards but recognized by the audience AND by professionals in Film Industry. This performance will drive him upwards, no doubt.
Exactly
Do you know Jaiden animations?
@@alechs_alechs I do

Superb!
My favorite part of the movie. I wish I could add this to my Playlist on Amazon....but no.
This was a great opening and Tom did a phenomenal job! Too bad the rest of the movie went downhill from there.
