For the first time, I don't think prof had a depth of knowledge of the situation. Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. Hamas Is not the problem the status quo is. Hamas was formed in 1987, and the occupation of Palestine is over 75 years. Only question you need to ask is when has Isreal fostered a peaceful resolution. The only Israeli prime minister who came close was assassinated. What options would you leave Palestinians?
You do realize that the entire world had forgotten their struggle before October 7. Just two year earlier, the Trump administration orchestrated the Abraham accord, which seeked to normalize relationships with arab countries without consideration of the Palestinian plight. Which was one of the last leverages they had.

@aghoghobernard I think you're not accurate. The restlessness of both sides existed before 1947. The nuslim extremist has been influencing the muslims not to accept Israelis in that region. Israel was lucky to escape the war brought on them in the early days, and won't be wise to let down guards. Nigeria is paying the price in the north today.
Don't mistake the palestinian struggles as a weakness, these are people that keep blowing themselves as a part of religion. They are hardened just because they think infidels shouldn't hold gorunds around them. The struggles of Palestinians started from when they attempted to resolve their dispute of unfair sharing of the land through a war. Israel kept expanding after each war they won.
The whole fences and restrictions around Israel is as a result of the arab extremists blowing up themselves. Like prof mentioned, the new strategy is the radicalization of the children, which I think is a crime against children.
The Israel extremist hasn't helped the situation as well. The Palestinian state is over bloated with an ideology. The country was not fully established before Israel joined them, and I don't see what's so difficult in a 2 state.
The arab radio in the west bank has made it clear that the 2 state solution would be an inroad to eradicate Israel. Go and check history, the muslim extremist strategy has always been to infiltrate the country, then take over.
I would suggest that they reshare the 2 state, to ensure that each could be clearly divided by borders. It needs an holistic view.

    • @aghoghobernard
      @aghoghobernard 11 месяцев назад +2

Your first sentence reflects your lack of understanding of the region's dynamics, so let me educate you. There isn't a two-sides to this. There is one side with colonial and imperialist objectives and the other the subject.
Before 1947, the schism existed only as a result of the mass immigration of European Jews to Palestine in the 1920s and their intent to create a state on their land. Nothing more, nothing less. Anti-Semitism was a European thing, not a Middle Eastern thing. What did Palestine have to do with the injustice the European Jews experienced in Europe?
There was peace in Palestine between 1900 and 1917. Mind you, in case you don't know, the Balfour Declaration was signed in 1917, which created the plan to develop a zionist state in another people's land without their take on the subject.
To further educate you, the British weren't doing this in the interest of European Jews; they did it due to capitalist interest. They needed a client state through which they could exert British power and control key trade routes like the Suez Canal et al., also because Europe was largely anti-Semitic at the time. They would rather them be somewhere else.
To enlighten you more, if the land was inhabited, who did the British negotiate within their bid to defeat the Ottoman Empire? You do realize that the British government promised them - the Arabs their independence if they turned against their colonial masters - the Ottomans, and that's how the allied forces defeated the Ottoman Empire. So why do you think it was ever coined - “A land without a people for people without a land”? Isn't that a propaganda? The land was inhabited; we have videos and photos of Palestine before 1947. It had trains, Buick car production lines, museums, schools, airports, etc. It was a civilization, albeit controlled by the Ottomans. Isn't this a classic colonial divide-and-conquer strategy? Didn't the French do the same thing in Algeria?
Furthermore, before the 1920s, the Jewish population of Palestine was just under 5%. And please note this Jewish population we are talking about here is predominantly Jewish Palestinians, not European.
When you have not studied history on a given subject, please don't comment and be confident about being wrong. Go and do your homework. Your comments wreak with a lot of ignorance.
So you asked another question, albeit rhetorical, I think. “I don't see what is so difficult about a two-state solution.” OK, let me give you some schooling. What exactly is the two-state solution? It was a suggestion by the newly formed United Nations-it was previously the League of Nations as a suggestion on how to move towards peace in the region as there was immense pushback on the plans to create a zionist state in Palestine.
So, let me take you back a few years earlier. As I mentioned before, during the 1920s and the mass immigration of European Jews to the regions, the Palestinians unanimously rejected the idea of taking parts of their land, which led to a lot of fighting. The British government, which had a mandate over Palestine then, was shocked at the extent of the pushback; sidebar, why do you think they will be surprised? Why would anyone accept coming to take their land to create a state? I mean, a lot of people debated this in the corridors of power in London about how harmful of an idea this was when they were lobbying for the Balfour Declaration. Anyways I digress
As a result of this crisis, the British government created the Peel Commission to investigate further and come up with a solution. The mufti of Jerusalem was amongst the few who turned up to communicate to the British government that there was a unanimous agreement by the Arabs that this was not going to be accepted. The commission couldn't find a lot of people to interview. Many didn't even want to entertain the question because it insulted the people of the land. The commission proposed the first idea of a two-state solution. Although it gave about 35% of the land for the creation of a zionist state and the rest to the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian people rejected it, and the conflicts continued. In fact, at the time, the British government suspended further immigration. After suffering some losses from zionist militias themselves, they hung their boots and returned the mandate to the United Nations. It is pretty essential to note that the United Nations at this time was not a reflection of the world but a reflection of imperialist and colonial masters. Most of Africa and the Middle East at the time were still Colonies of some colonial power.
Ten years later, in 1947, the United Nations proposed another form of two-states with some tweaks- a three-way division. 55% of the land to the zionist state, the rest to the Palestinian people and Jerusalem to be controlled by the United Nations. Do also note the level of justice here. First of all, as I mentioned, the Jewish population was less than 10% and grew to about 30% during the mass immigration. This meant they were still a minority, yet the United Nations still allocated more than half of Palestinian lands to immigrants.
What they didn't know at the time was that the Zionists were fooling them. Their plan all along was to annex the entire land. The closest prime minister who had come close to yielding some annexed land to create a viable Palestinian state was assassinated by an Israeli far right individual during the Oslo Accords era. Since then, there has been a massive skyrocket of Israeli settlers into internationally agreed Palestinian territories. Did Israel arrest them? Did it punish them? Did the world sanction Israel for allowing it to stand? There are about 800,000 of them now in the West Bank. Many forcefully took land and properties from Palestinians. How can the two-state ever work when the international community has never enforced it? It was never about peace but process.
So I employ you, go and get educated on the subject. Don't comment until you understand the nuances and intricacies of the subject. Ask questions rather than comment. Religion was the smoke screen used to cover the gross crime and injustice committed against the Palestinian people. Israel represents the last colonial project and it won't last long in its current form. One final piece of advice - dont listen to MSM if you want to get educated on this topic because they control almost of all them.
If you want solutions to a problem you address the root cause, not the symptoms

It's not that nothing is done in Congo and other African state in conflict. We just don't give them the same airtime in our media and parliament. As a South African I've known of the Palestine conflict since the 90s their history and ours are the same. We also shared a lot of bilateral relations. In Congo South Africa has a peace keeping mission, we recently have been requested to send more troops and we did. In Sudan, we are also trying to mediate, the problem is that there is so many of us trying to do that. In Mozambique we have another peace keeping mission of SADC which was also initiated by South Africa after Mozambique refused assistance but allowed Rwanda. Rwanda again is the stumbling block on Congo. When we address Rwanda East African nations come for us. So we rather do the peace keeping until real engagements are ready to be held.

A true Bible believing Christian fully agrees with All that God promised Abraham.
God specified the boundary for Abraham's Seed .
And NO AMOUNT IF WORDS OR MAN'S POWER WILL CHANGE THIS.

      Pharaoh,Haman,Edom,Ishmarlites,Moab,Hagarenes,Gebal,Ammon,Amalek,Philistines,Sisera, Oreb,Zebah & Zalmuna.
      (PSALM 83; Esther 1-9).
Two states side by side was wrong thought no wonder it'll never happen!
How comes enemies of Israel that surround Israel have failed to destroy Israel?
Nobody can defeat israel whose father wrestled with his God and prevailed(Genesis 32).
      Their God fights for them.
I pity those whose accuse Israel because Balam's prophecy said they'd be cursed while whoever blesses Israel will be blessed (Genesis 22-25).
What will one say when Israel finally destroys the mosque of omar in east Jerusalem before building their Temple there?
Infact the whole world will go to fight Israel but God will us Russia to burn them with Thermonuclear power(Zechariah 14;Rev. 17).
I tell everybody to repent and be baptized in the Name of the LORD Jesus Christ for the remission of sins then shall ye receive the Gift on the Holy Ghost(Acts 2:38).

With much respect, I would propose a fact check on two issues
    1. The Balfour declaration was made in 1917 and not in 1948. It proposed the setting up of a homeland for Jewish people in Palestine.
    2. Connected with the above, the two-state solution did not first emerge from the Oslo negotiations. It was merely re-echoed there. The two-state solution was proposed by the UN resolution in 1947 for establishment of a separate jewish and arab state in palestine. The jews accepted it and formed the state of Israel. The arabs rejected it and declared a war on the young israeli state. The arabs lost. The arabs have aways rejected the two-state solution, and they will never accept it. Incidentally, they have so far lost all the wars they have started.
On another note, all residents of Palestine before 1967 were called Palestinians (both arabs and jews). The capture of the term "Palestinian" as a description of nationhood for the arabs only happened for political reasons in about 1967.
Palestine was started by the Romans in 135AD after the crushed the 2nd Jewish revolt and renamed what was the Roman province of Judaea as Palestina-Syria as a sleight to the jews. Palestina-Syria or the British mandate Palestine comprised of modern-day Israel and Jordan.
Fast forward, and Palestina-Syria was actually divided into two states, one for arabs and one for jews. The one for Arabs is what is now called Jordan (previously Transjordan). The one for Jews is what is now called Israel, including the Judaea and Samaria (the West Bank) and Gaza and all israel. This should have solved the problem except that the arabs didnt believe there should be an Israeli state. This partitio, which was initially meant for the jews is what is now being discussed for further division into another two states. One for Jews and one for Arabs.
The Jews were actually betrayed by the British, not helped or propped up by them, as many people now say. This betrayal is what caused Jordan the state for Arabs to get off the table even after the two state solution had been proposed and implemented.
Even today, israel is very cautious, literally tiptoeing around the international community for fear of mass condemnation.
Dear Prof. PLO, Please verify these assertions, and if you find them factual as I know they are, please consider realigning your arguments and conclusions in this video

Exactly 💯 % true!. For Palestinians to behave in the manner in which it did like that of 7th October 2023 is understood to me, although it is a wrong way of doing it in that way. If one is oppressed extremely for too long, one can react desperately in any manner that sounds befitting no matter how bad or good. If the reaction is bad, what has the international community done to normalize the situation? The answer is nothing!
So, Palestinians' reactions were justified in natural terms, though it was wrong from the logical understanding

Jonathan attacked the Philistine outpost at Geba, and the Philistines heard about it. Then Saul had the trumpet blown throughout the land and said, “Let the Hebrews hear!” 4 So all Israel heard the news: “Saul has attacked the Philistine outpost, and now Israel has become obnoxious to the Philistines.” And the people were summoned to join Saul at Gilgal.
5 The Philistines assembled to fight Israel, with three thousand[c] chariots, six thousand charioteers, and soldiers as numerous as the sand on the seashore. They went up and camped at Mikmash, east of Beth Aven. 6 When the Israelites saw that their situation was critical and that their army was hard pressed, they hid in caves and thickets, among the rocks, and in pits and cisterns. 7 Some Hebrews even crossed the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead.

    • @MrVasco07

If it is not a two-state solution then it must be a one-state where both the Israelis and Palestinians get to enjoy the same rights inside this new country. The other option will have to be apartheid which is what we are seeing now in the West Bank.

    • @jamesmuchiri1305
      @jamesmuchiri1305 Год назад

@@MrVasco07 A one-state solution is inconceivable under the current circumstances. It should not even be contemplated. The two peoples already have very different cultures and the hostilities between them are too deep and personal to imagine them living 'under one roof'. Secondly, unless Palestinians are willing to submit themselves to an Israeli-led government then a one state can't work. Israelis are economically and militarily stronger than Palestinians so they can't agree to be governed by the 'lesser'. And sharing power is hardly sustainable. The problem with a two-state solution is not having two independent Israel and Palestine states per se but where each state will be located. Both peoples are claiming the same territory for historical, cultural and above all religious reasons. And ceding parts of that territory is an admission of defeat by either. I think it's high time Palestinians, the International Community and the Arab countries admitted that Israel has won the war and let it occupy the land and resettle Palestinians in a different place where they can form their own state and establish a government. The international community and Arab Nations can provide funds for such an undertaking. Israel too can be compelled to compensate Palestinians, the value of the land they occupied and existing infrastructure. This might be a massive capitulation in the side of Palestine but it's high time they admitted they've lost too many lives.
