This game definitely hit all the "nostagia" spots for me. Grew up in the 90s literally going to a laundromat in Deer Park, Long Island that had a Metal Slug X cab and a Cruising USA (along with another smaller cab). Back then, a lot of the local businesses offered small arcade cabs for you to jump on, so it wasn't uncommon for us to jump from one joint to another going ham on whatever rig they had available. Arcade Paradise did a pretty good job recreating that experience for me.
Enjoyed the game, too “grindy” for me tho. Lost interest between saving up money for upgrades that didn’t seem to effect much. Other then that it’s a cool idea/story
I admit it's a little grindy in the beginning, but less so once you completely switch to being a full-blown arcade instead of a laundromat with a few machines in the back. On a related note: I remember when SOFTWARE, ETC started in the back sections of the B. DALTON bookstores, then eventually became standalone stores.
A bit, yes. He represents the misguided notions that what worked in the past will automatically work in the present, and that his way to success was the only "correct" way. The laundromat yielded modest income, but Ashley was smart to branch out in a new direction. Ashley worked cautiously at first, and only fully converted the business into an arcade after the income from the video games matched or surpassed the laundromat income.
I got choked up when I realized that when Dad said, "Fix the toilet," he was _really_ saying, "I love you." He pulled a "Princess Bride" on us. 😭
Yes, that was a definite hit-you-in-the-feels moment. Thanks for watching!

That's interesting! Like a pub crawl, but with arcade games? Thanks for commenting, and stay tuned!
Yay you did it
