      For me it's the opposite.
      I own the DX3 Pro+ and the FiiO K5 Pro ESS
      The fiio has an extra warmth which I like and was going to reluctantly resent the tooping
      But I realized that the topping was in high gain and the fiio in Low
      Once the topping is set to Low, we recover presence and warmth, the listening quality is ultimately almost similar with the advantage of dynamics over the tooping.
      I keep the DX3 pro+

    This is another fine review Srboljub. You explain the differences between models so well. I did wonder where you were going with the heavy-weight boxer analogy, but you managed to explain your way out of the corner 😀 that you were retreating to very well indeed. I think that the analogy was quite understandable anyway, and you did well to keep it in your final edit. “Horses for courses” the expression says, and you described well for which genre each DAC/Amp could be chosen to stay the course economically. It seems that lovers of acoustic instruments and vocals need to choose the Topping DX5 from this group to satisfy completely their musical tastes. For its size and cost, the Shanling UA5 ranks creditably high near the Topping DX5 for its clarity, if not it’s punch (reference to boxing again 🥊 😀). I think that I would like both! The DX3 Pro+ has it’s place too, and represents good value. Thank you for another excellent video and review 👍🙂

      @@vintageprinciples sennheiser headphones are known to require a lot of voltage to sound their best, a headphone can be driven to loud levels but it doesnt particularly mean it'll sound good/better. HD 600/650/6XX are 300 ohms can you usually need 6V variations and the zen dac from spec can only push 3-5 V max - and that's using the balanced output, this is just intution but i feel like you need to pair the zen dac with an amp in order to get the best out of 300 ohms headphones

    Phew! 10 days ago I was leaning to the DAC-M1 based on your earlier review but I bought the DX3 Pro+ to replace my 9 month old (& only about 30 connect cycles) Hidizs S9 Pro as the S9's 3.5mm jack failed. After 5 days with it, I really enjoy the DX3 Pro+ sound, improves my old Hifiman HE-400i's somewhat (I don't like this headphone much) and pairs nicely with with my SIVGA SV021. A song came up in a stream and it was like I was in the room live. I'm so ticked I did not stop and bookmark the song. Most of what I listen to is more energetic shoegaze from the 90's thru 2010's and also stuff like God Is an Astronaut and All India Radio. I also use an old SMSL M100 + Magni v2 on my work desktop.

    Hi iiWi 🙂, smooth, yet detailed, punchy, transparent, separated, quick enough (natural) sound is a good sign of sound refinement. I would easily pick that, over the overly, edgy, quick and lean/sharp/dry thus detailed sound. How about you iiWi, what is actually your taste, the former or the latter? To be honest, I am already tired of that chifi style of the sound that all Chifi AMP/DACs have (mainly low to midfy toppings and smsls), which is edgy, sharper and overly lively-splashy and thin, what about you? That ,,details,, are usually details made by frequency response and trough quick transients with not decays, mostly fake details for the cost of a dry sound.... Also it is good to see that your analytical abilities (what to focus on and how to explain sound differences are still improving). It is nice that u included the UA5 to the review too.

      @@BENNYLiiGHT I would say DX3Pro+, because you can choose between line out and headphone output (or both) like you want. With the K5 Pro you always need to unplug your headphones if you want to listen only via speakers line out. On the other site the headphone will play music and you have to turn off your speakers when listining over headphone. The DX3 has a very good remote and a standby mode. The device shuts on/off(standby) with your PC. It works perfect! On the K5 you always need to turn the volume controller wheel to the left end to turn it off. the DX3 Pro will remember output and volume while in standby. The handling of the K5 ist outdated, expecially considering it's a 200 bucks device! Only if you need analogue line in for a turntable. Than of cource the K5, because not possible with DX3. DX3 has only digital in.
      DX3 bonus is Bluetooth and slightly more output power for your headphones.

    • @iiWiReviews

      E30/L30 is the most flat sounding here with worst dynamics... DX3pro + is more detwiled and also punchier sounding but it can sound thin and tiring as I explained in this video. E50 is the best DAC of the bunch, deteiled but smooth and easy to listen.
      Now, if you would spend the money for E50/L50 stack, I would actually suggest to save some 50 bucks and go for DX5 which is even better of all these mentioned here. I use it currently in my own desktop setup, it's amazing.

      I have a chance to test it in my system as a DAC. Fresh from the box (not burned in). In stereo and scene it is very impressive. Rother thin sounding. Fast and punchy. Ima li smisla porediti izlaznu snagu izlaza za slušalice kod integrisanih pojačala(u mom slučaju Pioneer A30 sa ''samo'' 250 mw na 32om) i amp/dac pojačala za slušalice koji često imaju i deset puta više mw(bar na papiru)?

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  7 месяцев назад +1

      Ima, samo integrisana pojačala obično ne posvećuju puno pažnje i budžeta za taj deo dok je za DAC/AMP to praktično glavna stavka pa se napravi da bude top. 250mW inače i nije tako malo.

      To nema veze sa snagom već sa tim kako su im štelovana kontrola jačine zvuka, tj. koliko brzo da pušta snagu.
      Ono koje ima više snage to obično pokaže tako što ima malo više dinamike i bolji kick u basu sa više kontrole. Ali razlika je obično suptilna.

    • @mydogskips2
      @mydogskips2 Год назад

      That's a question every person needs to answer for themselves, how much something is worth. I guess I got lucky when I ordered a DX5 used for just a bit more than a new DX3 Pro+. I haven't gotten it yet, but when it comes, I'll let you know how it sounds if you want.
      I say this because while I do NOT have a DX3 Pro+, I do have an Aiyima A4 DAC/headphone amp that uses the same ES9038Q2M DAC chip as the DX3 Pro+, so I can compare the two in that regard, though it is nowhere near $200 US. Personally, I do find the sound to be very detailed, it has good energy and excellent highs, definitely bright but not overly so, but it's also a bit thin, the upper bass is lacking a bit, and the full-bodied-ness to the overall sound is not quite what I want it to be.
      When I get my DX5 next week I'll connect it up to both my Audio Technica headphones and hi-fi system to see how it compares, then I can let you know if it's worth an extra 200 bucks.
