Congratulations John on taking the leap forward. I did the same thing when I was a little younger than you. I loved having my business and retired when I was 45. Now I am bored and thinking of starting another business. One tip I can give is to make sure you set aside enough money for your self employment taxes. Another is to pay off your house as quick as possible. The feeling of no payments is awesome. Good luck! I know y’all will kill it working together.

I was like your husband, working from 7am to past midnight most days and some weekends for about 2 years!!! It was killing me and taking a toll on our family!! I quit my job last year when we were sure our mortgage and vehicle etc were paid off. We planned and prayed about it! Similar to you guys, we are simple people that just enjoy our time together, dont look for extravagant vacations or spending. We enjoy camping, fishing...just making memories together in the simplest of ways...enjoying life and family cause there is more to life than money!! Sally, I am doing what you do for the most part which is how I came across your channel...I do vinyl projects, wooden signs, working from home etc, as this was always a dream of mine. I started this year and our family has never been happier. Business is slow but we are content and living well!! All the best to you and God bless you in your new chapter. There’s a channel I watched called Keeping up with the Morgans. He cut trees for a living as well I believe and does tractor videos and cutting trees on his land and has a mill saw.

Just found your channel. Congratulations on taking this step. You guys are headed in the right direction. I would recommend setting up a health savings account since you have a high deductible plan. It is exactly for paying for health expenses, but instead of paying from after-tax savings, you pay for doctor visits with pre-tax money. Find one that will allow you to invest in index funds, or even just a money market just so you never have to pay tax on the money you use for health care that insurance doesn't cover. I would also set up Roth IRA's for each of you and invest in index funds. Roth is best when you are young and not in a high tax bracket. Then, later on, when income grows, switch to a pre-tax IRA and defer the taxes. When you retire you want a mix of after tax and pre-tax money to withdraw from to keep retirement taxes low.

Congratulations on taking this big step! It’s scary but so amazing. I remember when my husband started his own business and him being so nervous about paying the bills. And I kept reassuring him that every thing would be fine. And it was. We made it work. And so will y’all. Like I always told him, as long as we had each other and our kids, the rest was just stuff. If we needed to start over we would but doing something that makes you happy is important. As long as you are willing to work, you’ll be just fine. Enjoy the ride!
I’d like to see him make a video on how we could personally cut our own tree limbs back safely. We have some big Leland Cypress that are overhanging our gravel road that we need to trim without killing our trees. And another weird thing I would like to see is how in the heck do people make pretty lines in the grass? Lol. We have a zero turn mower and can’t figure it out. Just throwing some ideas out there.

How awesome! I'd love a video on how to remove a tree for a female to do. Its small not as tall as my house but its full. I do own a chainsaw. So I've got the right equipment for it. I just need a game plan. I don't want to get hurt doing it. It does have splinters. 😩
