Thank you for the discussion. This makes me feel like building Temur midrange with 10, one point cards. It would probably be terrible, but I think it might be fun to try and just play as many pointed cards as I can for funzzies.
Great to be able to listen to this video, I'm only an hour in, but I think it's already answered a question I've had. I was always curious about how "Hard Control" performed in the format, since I've heard occasional offhand comments I think in some N100 and Throwdowns that it has lost popularity over time. But it sounds like that's less because OTHER archetypes have been outpacing it with good cards, and more that they just started printing more good control-style "plays to the board" cards that it's hard for a control deck to justify NOT including? I guess it's not that control has gotten worse (comparatively), but the form control decks (primarily) take has changed. It's a useful perspective I hadn't thought of, and despite it I still think if I were to put together a Canlander deck I would try/start with a more classic hard-control and improve/alter from there.
It honestly was a card that I felt added *way* too much homogenization in the format. I felt like whatever match-up I saw, swinging in with two Karnstructs was likely to happen.
I put it in my mono blue deck on saturday, cuz it finds my mox, ring, and shadowspear. And after my friend sent me the update, i was like of, cool, im still at 10
A buddy tried to get me to go on one, but when I did the research it was just a tourney happening during a normal cruise. Decided that was going to be more awkward than I wanted.
Hello, Very nice announcement and well presented. Thank you (i got spammed by ads and that's a bit frustrating on a big announcement like this but well)
One minor thing I think is a little odd, you mention walking back changes but are walkbacks of removals and adds required to be unanimous as well? imo it'd make sense for reversions to have some lesser threshold to reflect that those initial changes had to be unanimous.
I probably got a little too happy about sol ring dropping in points but ny favourite deck is medium black and frankly it needs all the help it can get 😅
I have a question. I understand that self perpetuating engines are worth 1 point and i feel like these cards specifically are worth 1 point and I advocate for these being 1 point. I am interested to hear your take on combo decks with these points changes. Early in the stream u stated and personal experience dictates that the best way to deal with these things are ignoring them and winning before they become a problem. Do u think combo decks will be on the uptick after this points change, and what are your opinions of combo in general in canlander as of now?
There's a lot of baggage tied into this and wouldn't suggest this lightly but I wonder if the format would benefit from cards being half a point (effectively making it a 20 point spread). This would allow for some more flexibility and granularity while still having deckbuilders feel like they get that choice. I feel like there are a lot of cards that would be on the cusp of 1 point but aren't quite there that could fit into a 0.5 point designation (or maybe moxen being moved up to 3.5 or something)
About a year ago, i was thinking shadowspear shouldve been pointed cuz i died to it constantly, now im like, yea, it's a good card, dont think its a point worthy card though
Cards being on the points list is what makes this format cool! This is fantastic love these changes

Thank you this discussion. I can tell that a lot of time, energy, and consideration went into this.

Haven't been keeping tabs on the format as of late. Ancestral Recall is 8 now? Good lord.
I feel vindicated seeing saga get pointed I feel like I've been telling everyone that card goes in every deck
It honestly was a card that I felt added *way* too much homogenization in the format. I felt like whatever match-up I saw, swinging in with two Karnstructs was likely to happen.
I audibly cheered when I saw it pointed. Just too many games becoming Player v Construct
Now the next question - is 1 point enough points?
@ as someone who doesn't play the format I'm not qualified to answer but I think it's probably fine

Welp, time to make some quick changes to my first ever CanLander deck that I've been working on to bring to MagicCon Chicago.
I’ll see you there and will be doing the same. Haha
Hey me too!
Wow that was a fast turnaround on this stream!
1:02:55 - if there was actually an MtG cruise, that sounds like a good time.
A buddy tried to get me to go on one, but when I did the research it was just a tourney happening during a normal cruise. Decided that was going to be more awkward than I wanted.
1:23:30 finale of devastation and neoform were both printed more than 5 years ago, though

If it adds or removes a card, then yes
But how does Trudeau resigning affect the Canadian Highlander points list?
Kid: I want psychic frog
Ma: We have 0 points psychic frog at home
Psychatog: I used to be a Constructed powerhouse you know T_T
I just updated my drege deck to the new points list! Survival is the next card to add, I just need to find what to cut
White plume was printed in June 2022.
I probably got a little too happy about sol ring dropping in points but ny favourite deck is medium black and frankly it needs all the help it can get 😅
Urza's Saga taking this long to get pointed is wild imo.
It was obviously done as part of this comprehensive update, give it a rest with the complaining.
"we're getting Gruul players to actually think"
Not likely.
I thought this was a video about the PM resigning but with a meme thumbnail. I was wrong.
2:26:58 I have a comment! You've said Survival of the Fittest so many times the words have entirely lost meaning for me.
I don't think moxen need to move atm. Trip-mox saga feels like a good point spread, and dub-mox, saga, and 3 points looks right IMO
Mulder would like food being added to the food bowl to not require a unanimous vote... put Mulder on the council!
Do you need to be Canadian for Canadian Highlander or is that no longer a prerequisite
It’s not required, but you will need approval from the council
Dang, I guess I'll have to bug Wheeler
Non-Canadian citizenship is 2 points
no but you do have to renounce US citizenship
Meow, also love the changes
Make Mox Sapphire 8 points (the rest can stay 3). I have fixed the format.
I see wheeler's sidebar patrolling my elves room on discord....? I'm so happy to hear Pyrokinesis is getting pointed!
Nyx Weaver? I hardly know her!

Finally, I despise minsc and boo
