I was the chief training officer for West Vancouver Transit many years ago, and I can tell you that the driver would have been terminated long before this accident.
Guess you've never heard of DEI hires. You should know better to make a statement like this having worked in this specific industry. Sounds like you're a gatekeeper
It's taken a year to figure out Greyhound had a lousy bus driver. The parked trucks didn't jump into the bus. He/she was nodding off or playing with a phone
I have been on a bus before with a bad driver , told him either slow down or I was calling the state police , people on buses speak up if you feel unsafe and do not be afraid to force the driver to pull over and let you off , it's better to be stranded than to be dead
And people try to blame trucks for parking because we get too tired to drive. Once at the end of a trip I was going through NJ and receiver didn't have parking and all truck stops were full one morning. I had already gone over my legal drive limit trying to find parking and was just too tired/starting to fall asleep so I pulled over on the interstate emergency lane far over enough even though signs said illegal for trucks to park in emergency lanes I had to pull over anyway for a nap after 13+ hours cause no parking was available anywhere. I napped for about 30+ minutes and awoke to a parking violation warning on trailer. It's beyond me how us truckers has to sometimes choose between having a ticket or bad accident from being forced to drive because we can't legally pull over on side of interstate "WHENEVER NO OTHER PARKING AVAILABLE". With my 2 years experience I know my limitations well. Sometimes there's just no where to stop for rest based on the area and time of delivery/pickup. It's not our fault some people can't maintain their own lanes/shouldn't be driving and crash into us even though we're pulled all the way over in an emergency lane. Bad thing is allot of 4 wheelers also crash into state troopers in the emergency lane also even though a truck wasn't there. People also crash into construction vehicles in emergency lanes. Nearly every time a trucker gets too tired to drive for any reason sometimes we just have to pull over immediately as sometimes the human body can just get too tired to function right for any reason one day but most of the time we "have to pull over" into the emergency lane for a quick 15 minute nap and we are breaking the law to get an emergency nap in most cases. I can't believe what little respect the legal system has towards us truckers especially considering without the work we do people in multiple areas would perish from starvation and lack of medicine. Now imagine being a greyhound driver instead of a truck driver..... I can just imagine the backlash from either passengers or the job itself for needing to pull over for a 30 minute nap or maybe even an hour nap if needed...... If we have to pull over on the Interstate in an emergency due to severe fatigue we shouldn't be held responsible for some distracted driver who couldn't maintain their own lanes from cellphone usage or intoxicated driving. Anyone who can't maintain their lane for any reason shouldn't be driving at the time or probably not at all if a cellphone is more important than a driver's life. If you don't have the personal lifestyle which allows for proper rest than don't join the transportation industry like if there is allot going on in your personal life which stops you from getting adäquate sleep. Proper rest is so important when it comes to driving long hours which becomes fairly easy with proper daily rest. The bus driver I guess thought to themselves they'll just "tough it out" but the human body is going to sleep no matter what when too tired even if you're driving you are going to fall asleep eventually no matter what.....
The person went to sleep 😴 behind the wheel. The person was supposed to tell Greyhound he/she couldn't drive because fatigued. The reason why they may be covering ... Greyhound doesn't let a driver get his full sleep, if they are short handed they call you right back to work instead of giving you the mandatory off time commercial drivers have to have.

The next rest area going east on I-70 has been closed for "repairs" for over 5 years. Illinois should lose it's federal highway funding until it gets all rest areas on the interstate open. If driver fatigue is a danger, Illinois dereliction of duty to keep rest (for drivers) areas open undermines highway safety. If the other rest area to the east had been open the crowd of trucks at the rest area by Silver Lake could have been divided between both rest areas and big trucks might not have been on the shoulder of the exit where the crash occurred. It was obviously a fatigue driving issue and I don’t understand why the NTSB allows these all night passenger carriers to operate during these hours. What was their origins start time and where and where was trips to terminate max 10 hours driving 15 hours on duty.
And the media and greyhound tried to blame the drivers that had parked their trucks on the ramps paved shoulders ! Typical I would say that the driver in question was not having his hours of service correctly tabulated! And was driving with not enough rest between runs. I am in the trucking biz and my safety department drills into my drivers get your sleeper time no load is worth a accident from being fatigued ! We do heavy haul so most of our loaded running time is daylight only and they get plenty of rest and most states do not allow OS loads on week ends . Bit a note About 45 years ago I applied at Greyhound and they would not hire me because I had a beard ! I went on the put under me over 3 million accident free miles over the road before starting my own business and I still drive a lot but just local now back and other problems have sidelined me from long trips .
Sounds to me like Greyhound needs to be sued along with the driver. Someone has gone to extensive lengths to cover up for this guy by the looks of it. Is he represented by Rudy Giuliani?🤔😳
A bus driver should be FIRED after one wreck! No wonder they went out of business well-sold off. a driver has other lives on his bus, and just WOW, dumb!
Never ever change. If they wanted to fix things they could. All night bus trips and H O S but the government still shucking and jiving. He swerved or fell asleep or followed the tail lights into a stopped truck. Confidently lost!!!!!!
Illinois should certainly be sued as well as Greyhound but because they're controlled by our friends the high and mighty Democrats nothing will come of it watch and see.Scum will always protect they're own.If i,de had half that many wrecks I would have been fired from trucking and never rehired by any company, not even Swift or Western Express, that driver was a loser and they protected him from the get go.Sick, sick ,sick.

Greyhound!
This is YOUR typical goverment entity at work.......They had their info within the first week but took over a Year to come to this conclusion
Must’ve been a DEI hire 😢 RIP greyhounds going to pay biggly
More Proffesional Drivers should be Screened for Diabetes..
30 yrs old
Fell asleep.....
Fell asleep!
When I get tire I look for a hotel with truck parking so I can get my 10-12 hours of sleep
Dude should go to prison so he can catch up on his sleep.
Ride the Dirty Dog…
Sus
Illinois should certainly be sued as well as Greyhound but because they're controlled by our friends the high and mighty Democrats nothing will come of it watch and see.Scum will always protect they're own.If i,de had half that many wrecks I would have been fired from trucking and never rehired by any company, not even Swift or Western Express, that driver was a loser and they protected him from the get go.Sick, sick ,sick.
And those who denied [in] Our Verses will touch them the punishment for what they used to defiantly disobey. (Al-An'am 6:49)
DEI?
You have to factor that we have a democrat led government right now as well. Probably should say. MAJOR FACTOR. ( Upgraded ). Buttitfudge

This should put Greyhound out of business!!!!
